Let's Take This Outside Layout for Lasting Memories #732

Who's ready for a new challenge? Here's the second Lasting Memories challenge for January; this time, we're deliberately focusing on our title. There were lots of options to use, but I decided to go big for the key word "outside" while keeping the rest of the title small, and I also stamped and fussy cut a few of the letters from patterned paper to match the rest of the layout. My final touch was to use foam tape to pop the big title up and give it more dimension. Hopefully that inspired you to come check out the challenge over at Lasting Memories and play along before the end of the month!

Tournament Layout

During his year learning Karate, my son Elliot participated in one karate tournament.  Although he didn't win any prizes, he did take home a commemorative medal, and I was so proud of him for getting up the courage to even do this in public. He was a Tiger orange belt at the time (i.e. a white belt with an orange stripe), so the Spellbound papers seemed a perfect choice for scrapbooking this momentous day. Although this was originally a Halloween kit, the orange/black combo works well for other events, too. And for those of you interested in participating in my Ombre Variety Challenge for Splitcoast Stampers, the title is another example of ombre.

And here's a video of him doing his kata. Notice at the end how he almost lands on the lap of one of the judges!

Life of the Party Layout

For Virtual Scrapbook Night at Splitcoast Stampers, one of the challenges was to scraplift a layout created by the person who signed up in front of you. My muse was Sewflake, and I chose this layout for inspiration. I reversed the design, but otherwise tried to copy her layout using a much brighter color scheme for these pictures of my hubby's birthday party at our favorite Mexican restaurant. The challenge is still going on until June 22nd, so feel free to check it out here if you want to join.

LOAD #1 - Lunch by the Shore

I decided to try to catch up with my scrapooking by doing a layout a day (LOAD) this month. We'll see how far I get! Here's my first layout. I pre-designed it using Studio J, and then recreated it with the supplies I had on hand. The title treatment is an old Becky Higgins idea that I haven't used for years, so I thought it would be fun to try it out again. Hope you like it.

LOAD #7 - Stingers

Wow, I'm posting earlier today than I have the whole week. Monica, I hope you're proud of me! Here's the latest layout. It's probably a little hard to see, but I random stamped the Honey cardstock using the bees from the Bee Mine stamp set (the Petite Perks Set from this quarter's idea book). I wanted a subtle effect, so I used Creme Brulee ink. I also used the bees for my embellishments, but I had to add a little stinger to them since my son's team is called the Stingers. I finished them with a little Liquid Glass and a foam square to pop them up. Looking forward to seeing today's layouts from everyone.

Fun & Games Layout

Wow, it's been over 2 weeks since I last posted! My family spent Thanksgiving with my parents this year, so I didn't do any scrapbooking while I was gone. I did get to work on my Christmas cards, so I will post them when I'm finished. Now I'm finally ready to get back in the groove. I'll start out with this layout from Vacation Bible School. I just purchased the Family Ties Children stamp set, so I had to use it on this layout since it's all about kids! The scrapbook magazines keep telling me that decorative scissors are making a comeback, so I thought I'd try it on the edge of my two border strips. Not sure I love the results; what do you think?
