2nd Christmas Layout

I know most people are counting down the days until 2017, but I'm counting down the layouts until I'm done scrapbooking 2013 (only two to go), so I kept this one pretty simple! Ever since we saw The Lord of the Rings movie wherein the two hobbits are astounded that Aragorn doesn't seem to know about "second breakfast," it has become a catch-phrase in our family for any time we do something twice. So it seemed perfect to adapt the idea as the title for this layout featuring our second Christmas celebration of the day! I started with a sketch from Stick It Down and added a bunch of closely-cropped photos, then looked through my Cricut cartridges to find the fun font for the title. A few embellishments and I was done.

Christmas Eve Layout

Another Christmas 2011 layout down. I got the basic idea for this one from a layout done by the uber-talent Wendy on Splitcoast Stampers. I was participating in a scraplift challenge, and since she was the person ahead of me in the list, I went searching through her gallery to find the perfect page. On her Ice Skating layout, I loved how she created a grid but let some elements break out, so I went with that concept. She also had a little scene, so I added a scene, and I outlined my title letters as she did. Because she was digi-scrapping, she could easily add many layers of paper, while I had to limit myself to three, but I loved the inspiration. Thanks Wendy!

EMS Sketch Challenge 22 - 2nd Try Layout

It's Wednesday, and that means another sketch challenge. This one packs 5 photos onto a single page, but leaves open space around each one so that it (hopefully) doesn't look overcrowded. If I had it to do over, I probably would have chosen solid cardstock for my title strip in order to keep the layout from being so busy. I do love my new "A Timber" stamp set. The price can't be beat (only $7.95), and the images offer such versatility. On this layout, I used it for the tree and the scroll design under the title, but I'm already planning what other projects I can use it for! I also got to use my new colored sparkles. Love the touches of bling! Now, let me see what you can do with the sketch, and leave me a comment with a link to your layout. Happy scrapping.
