"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us (2 Cor 4:7).
What would happen if Jesus took your place for a year in your workplace? Let's consider some hypothetical things that He might do.
He would do His work with excellence. He would be known around the office for the great work He did (Exodus 31:2).
He would develop new ideas for doing things better (Eph 3:20).
He would hang out with sinners in order to develop a relationship with them in order to speak to them about the Father (Mt 9:12).
He would strategically pray for each worker about their concerns and their needs. He would pray for those who even disliked Him (Mt 5:44).
He would rally the office to support a needy family during Christmas (Jer 22:16).
He would offer to pray for those who were sick in the office and see them get healed (Mt 14:14).
He would honor the boss and respect him/her (Titus 2:9).
He would consider the boss as His authority in His workplace (Rom 13:1).
He would be truthful in all his dealings and never exaggerate for the sake of advancement ( Ps 15:2).
He would be concerned about His city (Lk 19:41).
He would always have a motive to help others become successful, even at his own expense (Pr 16:2).
Hmm. Sounds like some good ideas we could each model. "
hmmm... i think this is really a very good and timely devotion for me.. hee.. I've got a job!!! finally... heh... really thank God and it's really in His timing.. for those who don't know.. i was actually retrenched la.. think i really handled this quite badly initially.. but thank God for those pple around me who've encouraged me all this while! and thank God who has supplied a temp job for me in the midst of jobsearch (slacking time as well)..
last day at Spring on 21.. think i'm gonna miss there.. well, i was really scared(finally) and gan cheong when another 2 of the temp staffs announced their leaving over 2-3 consecutive days.. "What about me???", i tot.. so i started sending out resumes... and, my good God gave me a job the following day! i got a call from the company i went for interview on New Year's eve 2009.. What a way to start and end the year rite?! COOL!
a new start to a brand new journey.. if God has lead me to this, He'll bring me through.. and how true it is... =)

God Is Not About YOUR Success

"I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life" (John 12:24-26).
God is all about your death so that HIS success can be realized through you! This is why the Church is having such little impact - there are too many believers who have not yet died to their old nature so that Christ can live fully through them. When believers come to the end of themselves they will lose their lives to Him and live through the power of the Holy Spirit and begin to see the reality of a living gospel that impacts lives, workplaces, cities and nations.
"Much of modern Christian enterprise is 'Ishmael.' Born not of God, but of an inordinate desire to do God's will in our own way - the one thing our Lord never did," said Oswald Chambers. The psalmist describes what it means to live in our own strength:
"Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat - for he grants sleep to those he loves" (Ps 127:1-2).
How does one die so that Christ can be our all and all? It usually takes a crisis of significant proportions for most people to relinquish the control of their lives. It means we come to the end of ourselves and our striving to control the events in our lives and we finally come to the place where we can say, "Lord, I surrender. Please take full control of my life."
Have you come to this place with God in your life? Let go and let God make you a success His way.

"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil" (Matt 4:1).
There is a common teaching going around today that says if you do all the right things in your Christian life, you will be blessed and never experience problems in your life. This teaching is heresy. The Bible says that we will encounter many problems during this lifetime. Just read Peter's epistle.
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Why would God lead His Son into the desert to be tempted? Why would God lead you and me into the desert?
The desert is a place to learn something about ourselves. It is the place where we determine if we will truly live by every Word of God, not by bread alone. When Satan tempted Jesus in the desert, Jesus responded to every temptation by citing what the Word of God said about that temptation.
This is also the way you and I must respond to the temptations that are brought our way. We must have the Word of God written into our hearts in order to know how to respond to given situations. The Bible says, "the truth shall make you free." It is knowing and doing the will of God that allows us to live free from the temptation of evil.
The desert is often the place of silence. However, it is also a place where the devil will speak loudest because you are in a place of weakness and the comforts of your normal life are not to be found. It is a place where God is often silent but can also be a place where God speaks loudest. The word desert comes from the Hebrew word "dahbaar" which means "to speak."
If God has placed you in the desert, meditate on the Word of God so that you will withstand the temptation that comes in the desert place.

Fireproof
hmmm.. call me slow i dun care... haha.. jia ni just asked me ytd whether i watched fireproof or not and i told her i bought the DVD and is lying somewhere in the house for weeks already... she said it's very very very nice... and touching... and so.......
finally i find time to sit down and watched this show... oh man.... my eyes just opened the tap and tears kept flowing... super duper nice and touching show.. to singles, u might sae this show doesn't apply to u.. but....... it applies to relationships! haha..

Different people have different perception. One man’s meat could be another man’s poison.
A couple bought a donkey from the market.. On the way home, a boy commented, “Very stupid. Why neither of them rides on the donkey? “Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them.
Later, an old man saw it and commented, “The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?” Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.
Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, “How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman. ”The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented, “Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you.” Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.
It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.
Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear. Do what you think is right, not what others think.
Most pple might haf heard this story b4.. coz i've been taught in Pri/Sec Sch b4.. can't rmb when izzit.. hah.. Simple story yet might be difficult for some pple like me! So many times i've been so pressured by the comments that different pple gave me which gives me headache..
Isaiah 2:22 says,: "你们休要倚靠世人。他鼻孔里不过有气息；他在一切事上可算甚麽呢？/ Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?"
God wants us only to trust in Him...

we should praise God during good times.. and most importantly during tough times.. it is so easy for all of us to praise God during our good times and when trouble comes our way, we will grumble and blame God for the bad things that happened..
we, as christians, should learn to praise God even in the midst of our tough times.. it is usually during the tough times that we grow closer to Him..
God allow trials to come our way to polish us into gems shining for His glory.
May we cling on to God and never let go...

it's a quarter to CNY! think by the time i finish typing this post it'll be midnight already.. haha!
ok.. last few days have been quite tiring... i actually took leave on thurs n fri.. i'm so proud of myself... i cleaned my room and changed the bedsheets all by myself sia... first time... LOL! i flipped up my bed, i took the mop and just wiped once.... i actually one super contrast like those we see in tv ads.. hahaha! and we have new bedsheet this yr! i like it very much... hehe...
and then..... 6.30pm i k.o.-ed with my mum already... haha! preparing to go market to help out... we're supposed to wake up at 1am and leave by 1.30am.. and the timing is so zun can.. my uncle's car reached exactly 1.35am (my watch is 5 mins fast...) on my watch..
that's my beloved mum.. sorry for the blur photo.. anywaez, really take my hat off them for remembering all the pricing and the locations of all the vege and dry goods that they sell... the variety is really..... countless sia...

after that i left at ard 5pm for HOF.. almost died-ed sia... trying to keep myself awake thoughout and jia yan was nice enuff to send me home before she met the rest for supper.. as usual, we talked quite a bit.. especially without the others ard... like "someone".. LOL! some of u may noe who la hor...
was supposed to wake up at 1am again to go market 2nd day but i really couldn't wake up.. my whole body ached like mad and i had a super terrible sorethroat so i msged my couz sae i'm not gng already... my bro still went la.. so they din come in vain.. haha..
woke up at ard 9 plus to clean the windows.. and oh my... i actually took 2 hours to clean the windows at the living room.. the one facing the corridor.. (so glad that it looked really clean.. =P)
and then, another of my beloved couz came asking me to help her dye her hair... i really tot to dye the whole hair but she told me she wanted a highlight.. the end product looks really funny.. haha!
nice hair rite?? i styled for her too.... =P tt's only the front btw... i kept luffing when blowing her hair dry.. hahaha... oh ya, and tt's my new bedsheet.. her hald-wet clothes from the washing of hair... yes, i even did the washing for her....
ok... side track a bit.. blood donation... seriously, i'm scared.. i gave excuses for the previous years of not gng for the blood donation.. hopefully i'll just pluck/pick? up the courage to go for the blood donation this round.. haha...

after cleaning the windows and the living room, i went for my sec 2 class gathering.. ar, yes... sec 2.. haha! the photos ya'll can just go facebook n see la hor.. quite troublesome to upload here.. and before we're about the part, nicholas got the news that timothy just got poked in the eye while playing with the fencing thing.. dunno wat izzit called.. quite dumb leh.. gathering dun wanna come den go play with that thing and got him landed in the hospital just b4 cny.. latest news i've got is he might have to go for a cornea transplant.. which is quite serious la.. maybe this is one way God is trying to get his attention?
ok.. skip... here comes the CNY eve.. early in the morning @ 5am got a scoldingd by mum for not clearing the stuffs... so angry leh... spend so much time clearing the stuffs and all credit goes to bro.. argh.. anywae, dun bother and went to church..

the song starts from ard 3.17min.. in front is his testimony which really touches my heart.. (i posted this video b4 actually... haha..)
and then, the verse as quoted above reminded me of the song which is my last post.. 你爱用不变。。 the lyrics of these 2 songs are really really beautiful..
another point is what jerry emphasied at closing..
if we said nothing to put others down and only did as Ephesians 4:29 ("Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.") commands, we would be part of God's construction crew instead of Satan's wrecking crew
so many times we do not appreciate what our leaders did.. when they put in their efforts to do something for any events, many pple will naturally not appreciate what they've done.. but when they did something wrong, pple many a times will be the first to criticise.. i'm also included in this group.. that is why this msg really really spoke to my heart..
let all of us be part of God's contruction crew instead of Satan's wrecking crew bah..

really spoke to my heart la.. and i noe i'm struggling with that some how.. that's y la... NEVER EVER MAKE ENEMIES.. haha! have to really pray for God's grace and mercy... and His strength to help me overcome all these.. sometimes it's really quite 辛苦。。 a stronger word will be 痛苦 bah。。
another thing that really spoke to me the last few days when i'm reading the Bible.. surprisingly, it is from Chronicles.. for me it's surprising la.. coz this book is supposed to be like quite boring.. to me especially..
2 Chronicles 14:2-6 "Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God. He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to obey his laws and commands. He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him. He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest."
2 Chronicles 16:7-9 'At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: "Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand. Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war." '

it's abt running the race.. King Asa started the race well.. but he ended quite jia lat.. a lot of pple are just like that.. at the beginning they'll be on fire for God.. everything oso ask Him.. and victories will be granted to them, because they seek and consulted Him for every decision that they make..
once they grow older, they'll depend on past victories, thinking that God has helped them this/that way before and therefore naturally it'll be the same.. but it'll not be the same..
remember, God is a creative God..
i penned this down to act as a reminder to me too... coz i'm such a forgetful person... it's been so long since i've posted my thoughts.. haha! this may be the start? or it'll go into a hiatus mode until i've tot of sth to write or videos to post.. ciao!

and christmas is coming! so many events coming up.. and... i guess i'm almost done with my christmas shopping? spent ard 300 bucks liao... first time i spent so much.. just came back not long ago with my 2nd round of shopping.. @ tecman this time.. wanna go back SKS again.. but see how la.. maybe after i got my dec pay? thank God dec salary & bonus coming in on the 15th.. if not i'll really haf ta eat grass till after christmas liao.. hahaha..!! thank God for His perfect timing and providence.. =P

Receiving Bad News

"Also our enemies said, 'Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work'" (Neh 4:11).
I opened the letter from the attorney and began to read the contents. The more I read, the sicker my stomach felt. I could not believe the words I was reading. I literally felt sick with fear. Perhaps you've had a similar experience. Maybe you got news that you've got cancer. Or someone has had an accident. Or you are being sued.
Nehemiah was rebuilding the wall in Jerusalem. The going was tough. As if things were not tough enough, he got a letter from another corrupt government official threatening to kill anyone involved in rebuilding the wall.
"But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the men of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem's walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat (Neh 4:7-9 emphasis mine).
There is but one response we should have to bad news. Pray to our God and take the necessary steps to defend ourselves against the threat. This was Nehemiah's response.
Once you begin to take these actions avoid projecting what might happen to you in the future. This is a sure-fire first step toward depression. Ask God's grace for one day at a time only.
"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" (Luke 12:24-26).
Turn your bad news over to the Lord. He specializes in turning crises into opportunities.

Obedience Tests

"They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord's commands, which He had given their forefathers through Moses" (Judg. 3:4).
There is a spiritual truth God revealed in the conquest of the Promised Land recorded in Judges chapter 3: "These are the nations the LORD left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan" (Judg 3:1-3).
They didn't pass the test. "The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD; they forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs" ( Judg 3:7-8).
Martin Luther said there are three things necessary to create a successful minister of God: prayer, meditation, and temptation. You'll really never know the strength and reality of your faith until you experience difficulty in life. You'll never know for sure whether God can be trusted or if you'll fall to temptation.
The apostle Peter thought his faith in Christ was solid until the temptation came to deny Him. Jesus knew Peter was not mature yet and that he would deny Jesus three times in one day. Peter didn't believe it. Sure enough, Peter denied Jesus three times. Peter could not believe he could do such a terrible thing. In order to discover this about himself, he needed to be placed in a situation to reveal his true condition.
God allows circumstances to develop around your life to give your faith opportunity to be proven. It is only when we are tested in battle that we become skilled warriors. You can be confident God will allow trials to come your way through situations like an unreasonable boss, a client who refuses to pay, a false assault on your character, or a difficult relationship that requires unconditional love. These battles are sent your way to test what you know in the mind in order that they might become part of your heart.
If you fail the test, do not be overly concerned. Learn from it and grow through the experience just as Peter did.

NDP '08 Eve...
the prayer meeting last nite was indeed powerful.. somehow i've got this feeling God is going to do sth great in our midst.. i just couldn't explain wat is that la..
7.30pm we've had half an hour of praise and worship.. old songs that we've not been singing for quite some time were sung last nite.. sometimes we just need these songs.. not saying that we can't sing new songs.. but old songs somehow i feel are more meaningful than most new ones..
and then we prayed individually for the various prayer requests for how long i forgot liao.. subsequent was sharing from pastor susan, choo chye (in mandarin.. haha!), wee leng, sis antoinette, adeline ong.. dunno if i left out anyone... oh ya! and we watched "letter from hell"..
after that, we proceeded with praying in our regions.. and then short time of worship and pastor marion shared.. and.... it's porridge time! haha.. i had a bowl..
and......... we went to boon lay to eat! LOL! see below.. this is where we ate.. POWER NASI LEMAK! it's really power la... if not u wun see the queue below liao.. the rice is very fragrant..

Your Reponse Matters..
i'm gonna tell a story tt Pastor Mun Ying shared during Rzone last Sunday.. really touched my heart.. hah..
Paul's older brother had just bought him a posh car for his birthday gift.. One day, he drove to a nearby grocery shop to get something. When he walked back to his car, he saw someone looking his car. While nearing his car, that someone asked Paul if that is his car and he replied that it was a birthday gift from his brother.
Paul was thinking his reply would have been how he wished he could have a brother like his. But guess what was his reply? That person's reply was," how I wish I could be a brother like this.."
Paul was quite surprised at his reply, and knew that this person was different from others, so he offered him a ride home and he agreed.
When they reached the destination, the person alighted and walked briskly into his house. Paul waited for a while and saw the person walking slowly holding on to his crippled brother. Once again, Paul thought that his reply would be as he thought that the person will tell his brother," see, I came back in that car", but he was wrong again..
The person said to this crippled brother, "One day, I will get you a car like this."
What a surprising reply..
Sorry, i might not be a good story teller.. but can understand la hor.. haha! ok.. shall leave for y'all to ponder next.. ciao!

haha.. karen! see that? i lazy to update la... ok... 2 wks ago send my com to royston the "repair man" to reformat my com.. but i think my com soon liao la.... nid to save up liao.. think my fan spoil.. haiz....
anywae, so many things happen these few weeks la... as wat pastor have said in svc, there're so many deaths this yr.. 15 since beginning this yr if i nv rmb wrongly.. 2 of whom is related to pastors.. ya lor.. hmmm..
and pastor mong yee preached ytd! haha.. first time i've ever heard her preach la.. not bad.. and very blessed by all her testimonies.. haf let me rmb of my own past.. although not as jia lat, but still jia lat.. LOL!

"YANGON, Myanmar - The official death toll from Cyclone Nargis has nearly doubled to almost 78,000 and another 56,000 people remain missing two weeks after the devastating storm, state television reported Friday. ...... Haiz.... when i see the news reported everyday abt the death toll rising, my heart just ache.. how is it that they might reject aid from other countries....?? ridiculous..

my 20th b'dae
how can i forget to post this one up leh....? haha! it's phoebe's b'dae celebration!! and they shun bian help me celebrate together la... haha.... it's on phoebe's actual b'dae.. 11th April, Friday! pics as below... we went to seletar reservoir.. and gerald bought a cake! hah... still sae they wanna go out after eating cake... in the end still went with us to mad jack for supper.. haha!!

nice pose, joy... ok... it's my actual b'dae now... noon went to din tai fung to eat... treated my ah ma, my ma, 2 aunts and one uncle.. total 6 of us... and we spent 143++.. of coz.... i paid la... still got money left... thank God... haha! and will be getting my pay next week! and then.... i went home for a nap! and met up with karen, alan, daniel and aik khim... and alan suggested to go aramsa... at bishan park.. and so we went.... took 401 and we are lost!! met at 7.15 and karen was late... 7.30 den come la... 8.20 lidat den reach bishan park... we walked and walked..... and can't find... so alan sae take cab and we took! and found the place! and....... the food is sooooo ex and looks not nice.... in the end went back to bishan and we ate at cartel... LOL! enjoy the pics... outside bishan park........ opposite sin ming crematorium........
