This weekend little man celebrated his 3rd Birthday! And we decided to go all out for the special occasion. For Landon this meant his first real Birthday party! Up until this point his birthday celebrations have only included family. But since he has reached the age of asking to see friends, we thought 3 was the perfect time for a party! But before we get to that we must back up a few days. Little man got another haircut! :) I told him he needed to have special hair for his party, which turned out to be the perfect motivation for him because for the first time in his hair cutting history he actually sat all on his own and fairly still. He also got special Blue hair gel in his hair, which he just loved! Every time he gets his hair cut, he just looks older and older, he is very much a little boy, no longer a baby and quickly growing out of the toddle stage. So here he is with his fancy new hair!
Celebrating Landon's Third Birthday!
Every year we decorate the night before and lay out his presents.
This year he woke up extra early and had to wait about 2 hours before he could his open presents. I was amazed how patient and good he was while he waited for us to wake up and get ready.
and the first gift is... a wii remote!
My parents were able to come for the Birthday celebrations this year, it was so fun having them there!
Here Landon is opening a glow-in-the-dark football!
And here is with a dr.seus ABC game.
And a Sesame Street song video
He also got lots of cool games, toys and a ton of fall clothes!
THE PIRATE PARTY!
When talking with Landon about his Birthday party a couple months ago he asked me if there would be a treasure chest at his party. At that point I had not decided what kind of party to throw, but a pirate party sounded like fun to me! I did a lot of research online for ideas, but as it turns out I didn't really like any so I came up with my own way of having a pirate party. For the food I served chocolate cake with fudge icing because little man doesn't like cake, so I made my favorite. I made oatmeal chocolate chip and oatmeal butterscotch chip cookies for Landon, since those are his favorite. To go along with the pirate theme I place Freddie our fish as the center piece and made little boats floating in a sea of goldfish.
These little boats were a lot of fun to make and I had fun eating them...although I was the only one who did. The kids just ate the goldfish, haha, the boats were more for decoration anyways.
The Treasure Hunt!
For a pirate party a treasure hunt is a must!
We started our off with a Pirate story.
After I read the book, I showed them their first clue.
The first clue brought them down to our basement office room.
In order to get their next clue they had to make their very own pirates!
We traced their bodies on paper and then they glued on all the pirate accessories. They each did one and seemed to have a lot of fun with it!
After they were all done we moved on to the next task, throwing their pirate balls into the potty. No worries this is a never-been-used clean potty. Little man received this potty as gift for Christmas and only played with it ever since, he absolutely refused to sit on it, lol, he thinks its a toy, so that's what it is now used for.
After everyone threw their ball in a few times we moved on to the next task of finding the clue in the bucket of water. I taped the clue to the bottom of a duckie and filled the bucket with lots of bath toys to sort through. They actually had a lot of fun with this one.
Next task was to find the clue hidden in one of the balloons. We blew up lots of balloons and put them in Landon's room for them to pop! This was lots of fun and the kids had a blast.
Their last clue brought them to our room where they found their treasure!
After the Treasure Hunt we blew out candles, Landon had lots of help from his friends in blowing the candles out.
Then came the presents.
Here they are standing in front of some of the finished pirates.
Overall I felt like it was success. We only invited 4 boys all around Landon's age, which was perfect! They all had fun and I had a blast putting it all together! A big thanks go to my Mom for helping me cut out and create all the pirate accessories, putting the goodie bags together and finding cute pirate decorations. A big thanks to my Dad for being our photographer and helping with crowd control. And a Big Massive thanks to my sweet hubby for helping out in every aspect while I was busy doing party stuff.
