Gingerbread Houses

Ok so we really made graham cracker houses because I was too lazy to make the gingerbread, but we still had just as much fun! My parents came up for the weekend for some pre-Christmas celebrations. The whole weekend was a Blast filled with lots of yummy food and fun activities. But my favorite was making the gingerbread houses. I think my dad takes the prize for the best house, he was also the first one done, not sure how he accomplished that, but he did. But you can judge for yourself. I think they all turned out great!
Here are our supplies

tis the season to be JOLLY!

Enjoy this video, I know I sure do!

I love the sweet spirit that this time of year brings. I love celebrating the birth of my Savior. And I love  all these videos on the Life of Jesus Christ! What a special gift they are.

I also love being a parent at Christmas time! I'm not sure there is anything more fun then watching your 3-year-old light up at anything that has to do with Christmas. Little Man goes nuts anytime he sees Santa, he loves all the Christmas music and goes around the house saying "Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas Daddy, Mommy and Landon!" He loves to play with all the candy canes on the tree and talk about the presents under the tree of course. He also loves playing with his toy Nativity set and knows all the characters, with baby Jesus being his favorite of course. Everytime we step  outside he exclaims "It's frosty out here!" He looks out the window at night and asks "Is Santa out there?" He has even asked for details about whose house Santa will be visiting. I love playing up Santa and love that he is so into it. It's just too much fun!

So besides Santa, right now babies are the hot topic in our house, what with celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and me being 16 weeks pregnant. I'm not sure how much he understands about my pregnancy, but he is excited at the little bit he does understand about it. Last Friday marked the same time I lost our last baby, so we were very anxious for the doctor appointment. We decided to bring Landon with us to hopefully help him better understand. We had already heard the heart beat, but she asked me if I wanted to take a quick look as well. So of course we did! It was the first Dr. appointment I left feeling good and excited! Up until that point it was more of a holding our breath until we passed our little 15 and half week hump. So far everything looks great with our baby. We have the full sonogram scheduled for January 6th where we will be able to fully tell not only the health of the baby but also the gender. I so can't wait! :) So needless to say we have a LOT to be jolly for in our house. It took us a whole year after the miscarriage to get pregnant, even though I did not like how long it took, I am grateful for all the lessons both big and small and I learned along the way. There is still the chance of course that something could go wrong with this pregnancy but for now I've decided to allow myself to be excited and feel the joy that a baby in our arms in May is a very great possibility! By the way my due date is May 28th for those that don't know already. It won't be long till everyone knows considering I'm starting to grow out of my pants, and have had to put away most of my skirts already.

Needless to say we have a lot to be jolly about in our house!

A football game and Black Friday

FOOTBALL
Kansas State University vs. Texas A&M
score 53-50, K State won in the 4th overtime
Best Football game ever been to!
Ethan was able to get us free tickets through his work at Cox.
It was a lot of fun for the whole family! My parents even drove up from Texas to join us as did my cousin and a couple of his kids. It was a great day!

Black Friday
This year for Black Friday we went to the Dallas Arboretum.

It was spectacular and loads of fun! Our camera died shortly after arriving so these pictures are really just a small glimpse of all that we saw and did. Landon had a total blast!

Giving Thanks

It's been two months since my last post. A lot of that is due to the fact that our camera no longer takes clear pictures, they are all fuzzy and not worth posting, and since my blog is mainly pictures I guess I decided to not post period. Having said that I had to make a quick post in the spirit of Thanksgiving. I have to so much to give thanks for that I just felt like I had to publicly share just a little bit. Yesterday I sat on my couch looking around realizing how much of what I saw I just absolutely loved and adored and how blessed I truly am. I suddenly felt so grateful to be in a warm comfortable home where I can so easily feel and hear the promptings of the Spirit. As I sat I watched my son and husband dance around the room, usually I would have joined in but I was having to much enjoyment watching them. I am grateful for my marriage, to be loved so completely is truly an amazing feeling. I am grateful for my son, I love his enthusiastic personality and never ending chatter. I love just listening to all the funny things he says and comes up with. I am grateful for my church calling as a young womens leader, I have so much fun and am so blessed to spend time with such extraordinary girls. I guess all in all I am just grateful for my life! I just love the sweet spirit the Holidays bring and all the excuses to give back and give thanks.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

The proper way to turn 3

This weekend little man celebrated his 3rd Birthday! And we decided to go all out for the special occasion. For Landon this meant his first real Birthday party! Up until this point his birthday celebrations have only included family. But since he has reached the age of asking to see friends, we thought 3 was the perfect time for a party! But before we get to that we must back up a few days. Little man got another haircut! :) I told  him he needed to have special hair for his party, which turned out to be the perfect motivation for him because for the first time in his hair cutting history he actually sat all on his own and fairly still. He also got special Blue hair gel in his hair, which he just loved! Every time he gets his hair cut, he just looks older and older, he is very much a little boy, no longer a baby and quickly growing out of the toddle stage. So here he is with his fancy new hair!

 Celebrating Landon's Third Birthday!
Every year we decorate the night before and lay out his presents.
This year he woke up extra early and had to wait about 2 hours before he could his open presents. I was amazed how patient and good he was while he waited for us to wake up and get ready.

and the first gift is... a wii remote!
My parents were able to come for the Birthday celebrations this year, it was so fun having them there!
Here Landon is opening a glow-in-the-dark football!
And here is with a dr.seus ABC game.
And a Sesame Street song video
He also got lots of cool games, toys and a ton of fall clothes!

 THE PIRATE PARTY!
When talking with Landon about his Birthday party a couple months ago he asked me if there would be a treasure chest at his party. At that point I had not decided what kind of party to throw, but a pirate party sounded like fun to me! I did a lot of research online for ideas, but as it turns out I didn't really like any so I came up with my own way of having a pirate party. For the food I served chocolate cake with fudge icing because little man doesn't like cake, so I made my favorite. I made oatmeal chocolate chip and oatmeal butterscotch chip cookies for Landon, since those are his favorite. To go along with the pirate theme I place Freddie our fish as the center piece and made little boats floating in a sea of goldfish.
These little boats were a lot of fun to make and I had fun eating them...although I was the only one who did. The kids just ate the goldfish, haha, the boats were more for decoration anyways.

 The Treasure Hunt!
For a pirate party a treasure hunt is a must!
We started our off with a Pirate story.
After I read the book, I showed them their first clue.
The first clue brought them down to our basement office room.
In order to get their next clue they had to make their very own pirates!
We traced their bodies on paper and then they glued on all the pirate accessories. They each did one and seemed to have a lot of fun with it!

After they were all done we moved on to the next task, throwing their pirate balls into the potty. No worries this is a never-been-used clean potty. Little man received this potty as gift for Christmas and only played with it ever since, he absolutely refused to sit on it, lol, he thinks its a toy, so that's what it is now used for.

After everyone threw their ball in a few times we moved on to the next task of finding the clue in the bucket of water. I taped the clue to the bottom of a duckie and filled the bucket with lots of bath toys to sort through. They actually had a lot of fun with this one.

Next task was to find the clue hidden in one of the balloons. We blew up lots of balloons and put them in Landon's room for them to pop! This was lots of fun and the kids had a blast.

Their last clue brought them to our room where they found their treasure!

After the Treasure Hunt we blew out candles, Landon had lots of help from his friends in blowing the candles out.

 Then came the presents.

Here they are standing in front of some of the finished pirates.
Overall I felt like it was success. We only invited 4 boys all around Landon's age, which was perfect! They all had fun and I had a blast putting it all together! A big thanks go to my Mom for helping me cut out and create all the pirate accessories, putting the goodie bags together and finding cute pirate decorations. A big thanks to my Dad for being our photographer and helping with crowd control. And a Big Massive thanks to my sweet hubby for helping out in every aspect while I was busy doing party stuff.

Me and my Best Friend :)

Because we had the party in the morning that left the rest of Saturday to do what we wanted so we decided to go to the zoo! The weather was perfect and the animals were all out enjoying the coolness. It was the perfect day!

Watching the Tortoise move is about the coolest thing ever,

So if you are ever wondering how a child is supposed to turn 3 now you know. No need to wonder any more ;).  Really it was a great day, just perfect and wonderful! I am so proud to be the Mommy of a Three year old. Being a Mom brings me the greatest joy I've ever experienced. Especially when you get to be the Mom of my precious Landon who is absolutely perfect in every way, I just love him soo much and LOVE being his Mommy. I can't wait to see what this year brings for us and for Landon!
