Examination Dates!

My examination dates were released on Tuesday. I will be taking 3 papers separately on 10/06, 16/06 and 22/06. This lead to the confirmation of my flight date to return home. I will be leaving on 16/06, afternoon(waiting list) if not on 18/06 and will return on 21/06! This is because my brother's wedding is on 19/06! I was hoping my 3 papers will be before 19/06 but it was not meant to be. I envy my friends, they taking 3 papers too, their last paper is 14/06! I will be in Singapore for only 4 days, it is gonna be a rush! I gonna visit some of my friends, Locksley, Raymond...etc. Guess I'll dedicate 1/2 a day for them, probably 18/06 or 20/06. Beside I still have family and girlfriend to attend to as well as studying for my last paper. Fortunately, the last paper is on linux which is taught by a good lecturer.

My 1st paper is on 10/06 which is the date of my NS buddies' mob briefing! A few weeks ago, I was chatting with some of them and was telling them that I maybe taking exam on that day and see how true it is!

What A Relieve!

It had been a long week for me mentally, due to my Indonesian partner for 2 modules we taking together. The reason is mainly due to the different lifestyles we live in. He is a 'night crawler'; studying very late through the night. This causes us problems to meet up for project works, he is always late for our morning meeting, from as long as 1-2hrs to not even turning up. We could not do much after that due to other classes. For our night meeting he wanted it to be at 10, 11, 12 even 1am! Which I turn down ofcourse and for afternoon, he would cancel it at the last minute due to various reasons. We only had 1 successful meeting from all these arrangments. I also borrowed a library book which an assignment was based upon and he took the book from me to work on the report. 2 days before submission he asked me to help him to do 2 questions from the assignment through msn but those questions had to refer to the library book which was at his possesion!. For another module, my lab class is on Thursday, I do not know his but he always turn up for Monday's. For the record, there was an assignment earlier where I did the programming and he did the report. The report had a cover sheet that required both our signature, he submitted it without my signature! Finally, I decided to split up the partnership. We had a talk and reached an agreement. We will both go our own ways from now on. What a relieve!!!

There is a saying that your luck will change once things around you change. Well, there is a linux lab test that had to be done in pairs(need not be permanent), the tempoary partner I found is a linux pro. We did very well for the test and I learnt a lot from him. I guarantee if it was my old partner, we would be stuck! I am glad that I will be doing the project and assignment on my own from now on, at my own pace. :)

I did the unthinkable yesterday, I shaved!

Those who have seen the photos above should have seen me keeping a moustache and a goatie. Well, actually I used to have a moustache before NS. During NS, I had to shave them all off plus there was also the daily shaving! After I arrived here, I decided to grow them back, hey, there is no 1 to nag me over here! However, I am too lazy to trim them so I just let them grow and after 2 months, they starts to annoy me, especially when I am eating ice cream. I estimate the longest is about 2cm, so yesterday I shaved and it was not easy shaving the moustache and goatie that grew so long. I know it is kind of disgusting posting this but there really is nothing I can think of to post for these few days. So for those who are reading this, let your imagination flow. \ <^o^> /

Not Much Had Happened But...

Not much has happened for these pass few days, buried myself with school notes and programming codes. I notice 1 problem about myself though, my eyes seems to be able to focus more on bright object. For example, looking at MS Word or notepad with black font and white background, I seems to be unable to read as good as those with white font and black background. The pattern is the same as my blog's design, guess it was my instinct that I made it that way. It is like focusing at the bright white font instead of losing focus on a white background. This bring back the memories of my 'live firing' during my NS. During the day shoot, I just pass (forgot the exact shots) whereas during night shoot, I only miss 1 shot. It is the same theory as I mentioned above. Therefore I start to change my windows setting, I downloaded notepad2 which had a white font, black background scheme. For Linux, I also change the scheme of terminal, now it look exactly like command prompt. I am still thinking whether to buy black colour paper and use white magic ink to take down notes during lecture...

Not Exactly Uni Material

Been 'Kaying' notes these pass few days, having problems understanding all those theories. There was a math assignment done using 'maple' software, 2 person per group. That assignment was practically done by my partner, I only understand how the software works! I simply do not understand the theories, no matter how many times I re-read it. Now I am trying a different approach, the poly method, that is to look for examples. Poly notes always have more examples than theories, whereas Uni notes just give u the theories and problems. So instead of trying so hard to understand those theories, I will look for patterns through examples, either from reference books or through internet search, and then practice them! I call it the unorthodox method. So I conclude that I am not exactly uni material. And I suddenly recall what my linux lecturer said - "Engineers and certain professionals, their work is basically copying other people's idea and modify it."

BBQ Dinner

Went to a BBQ dinner organized by SSA(Singapore Student Association) just now. Pure Aussie style, that is bread with BBQ sausage(sandwich), BBQ garlic bread and ofcourse chicken and beef...etc. The club members are warm and friendly, and speak Singlish! However the number of people that turned up was less then 20 including my friends and I! Is SSA so small? Well, 1 of the senior members said there are still others, but they went to play soccer at other place so the answer will have to wait.

Joke Per Post (If I Remember)
Mexican American War

During the Mexican/American war, an intense long standoff occurred along the front. For days and days neither side made any advances. Finally, an American general had a bright idea.
He aimed his rifle to the Mexican trenches and yelled "Hey Juan!"
A soldier jumped up and replied "What?"
The general shot him dead. This continued for three days.
A Mexican general decided that two could play this game and decided to try it out. He called out "Hey John!!"
An American replied "John isn't here......is that you Juan?"
The Mexican general stood up, "Yeah!"...
