Fourth of July 2011

This was the kids' first real experience with fireworks. Avery was fascinated but wouldn't get anywhere near them. Trent was a little braver. He would hold them but was totally flinching the whole time.

Also, Avery kept asking for a jacket because it was windy. She said she was cold, even though it was 95 degrees outside!

Avery's Obsession

Whenever I do baby photo sessions at our house, Avery always collects up all the headbands that I've gotten out for the baby. And she likes to have me take her picture while the baby gets a little down time.

Easter 2011

Egg hunt! This year the plastic eggs were filled with dates, almonds, dried pineapple and raisins. Avery had a good time hunting them down but Trent wasn't really motivated. I guess last year's chocolate was a little more enticing! By next Easter we'll try to find some candy that is safe for him to eat.

Dad's Birthday 2011

It was great to visit my dad a few weeks ago as a birthday surprise. It was his and Cathy's first time meeting Avery! She loved them immediately! We has a lot of fun playing with their Solitaire marbles and eating oranges off the tree in the backyard.











My dad has Parkinson's and is physically slowing down a lot and just seems so physically old. But besides the occasional lost train of thought, his wit and sense of humor are still great! And he's very capable of following conversations.

Kids' Birthday 2011

I'm so happy that we decided to do a little celebration for both of the kids this year. We didn't have a full-on party because I've been so busy with photography and it would be so difficult with Trent's dietary restrictions. So we just had a little birthday cake (gluten free, casein free, soy free, corn free - thank you Whole Foods!), complete with candles and singing. My mom and Garry were there too. It was so sweet to see that both of the kids really "got" it this year for the first time. Trent looked around at everyone and smiled so much while we were singing "Happy Birthday"!

And no, our house isn't purple on the inside. That's just the light cast from the TV that was on in the background.
