Goodbye for Now
Well, I think it's time I faced the truth. I don't have the time or motivation to keep this blog updated. I suppose I'll keep it here for now, in case you want to see some post, for some reason. But, for now at least, this is goodbye. :/ You can always keep tabs on me through facebook, though. =)

Hey guys, I missed posting this weekend, but I'm posting now, so it's not too bad, right? =) I'm afraid I don't really have much time to spend putting together a post, cause I've got a test tomorrow, along with some physics homework, but I said I'd post something, so I will. =)
This past Saturday Mu Kappa (the missionary kid group) had a Men's breakfast event, with worship and a devotional by a Taylor alum. It was pretty sweet. Other than that, my weekend was pretty mundane. I watched the Phantom of the Opera with some friends. It was the first time I'd watched it in years, and my memory of it being a good movie was confirmed. =) The songs especially are amazing. Check it out:
Don't worry, the whole movie isn't that weird. =)
Oh, on Thursday (at least, I think it was Thursday...), my boss at work (I work for the Computer Science and Engineering department) put me in charge of updating our wiki, so it's nice to have more work hours. =)
This week is going to be pretty intense. I have a test tomorrow, one some time this week, and one a week from today. AND I have a research paper due a week from today. But at least I have Thanksgiving break to look forward to. I'll be leaving for Toronto on Tuesday and won't get back till Sunday. Boy do I look forward to not having homework to worry about! =)
And now, I'll leave you with this song I rediscovered yesterday:
Oh Canada by Five Iron Frenzy
Hope y'all have a good week!

Remembrance Day
In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Please take a moment of silence to remember those brave men and women who have given their lives so that we may have freedom.

Well, it's midnight, and I have 1 out of the 10 sources I need by class at 9 for my research paper. But I said I'd post every weekend, so I will, even though this may not be as long as it might be if I had more time.
Early this past week, I discovered how great it is to walk around campus late at night, just talking to God. The first night, I think I spent about two hours between praying and reading the Bible in the prayer chapel and walking around campus talking and singing to God. It was amazing! =)
Friday night, I went roller skating with Mu Kappa. Mu Kappa is the missionary kid and third-culture kid organization (basically, it's for anyone who spent a fair amount of their childhood in a country/countries other than their passport country). They called it a 'pick-an-American' event, which basically meant each of us 'Mu Kappa people' brought with us a straight-up American. Though I fell down a few times, it was loads of fun, and by the end of it, I was going at a pretty decent clip, and not terribly awkwardly either. =)
Yesterday afternoon, a bunch of us from my floor went over to our sister floor and made caramel apples. It was a bit sticky, but delicious nonetheless. =) After we were done with out caramel apples, we took a group picture, then played signs, which was loads of fun, though I'm not the best, and half the time had no idea who had 'it'. =)
Recently, I discovered Owl City (Thanks Laura =) ). Have a listen:
Vanilla Twilight by Owl City
My favourite song of his (It's just one guy, with a supporting band) is 'Fireflies', which even has a music video, but embedding is disabled for it. :( Anyway, here's the link to it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI4JLa0hbUw. Go check it out.
One website I visit on a regular basis is the webcomic XKCD. I really liked the comic from a couple days ago:
http://xkcd.com/657/
I was killing some time (read: putting off homework), looking at random past comics, and I came across this one, that just so accurately describes my post-dream experience some times. =)
http://xkcd.com/430/
Anyway, I should probably wrap this up. It's been an hour since I started, and I still have a fair amount of homework to do before I hit the sack. :/ Hope this finds you well, whoever you are, my reader, if anyone reads this at all. (Hey, here's an idea, how about you post a comment or something, so I know someone actually reads this. =) )

Ok, so I'm going to try to update this blog every weekend. We'll see how it goes, but that's the plan. Please leave a comment or something telling me if you're interested in reading a weekly update on my life, cause if not, I probably won't bother. =)
It's been a fairly uneventful week. There hasn't been too much homework, which has been nice. It's almost been hard to figure out what to do with my time at times. =) I've mentioned my work before, right? That's been fairly uneventful. On Thursday, however, my boss taught me how to use our huge poster printer, so now I've got extra work printing posters, which is fun.
Let's see, what else has happened this week? On Wednesday, our sister floor had an open house, which was fun. Normally you can't go into dorms of the opposite gender except during the week.
I had a physics test on Friday. It took me over two hours (I was working really slow, though), but I think I did reasonably. We'll see, I guess. =)
Well, I can't think of anything else to say, so I guess this is the end, for now. If you'd like to keep hearing my random thoughts on my week, please let me know, otherwise, I'll try to post on those rare occasions that something interesting actually happens. =)
I'll leave you with one of my favourite worship songs:
Reign in Us by Starfield

Airband 2009
OK, so every year Taylor has this thing called Airband. It's a little hard to describe what it is. Basically it's a bunch of modern dances, I guess, though 'dance' doesn't seem to quite fit some of the acts. Well, you make up your own mind, and tell me what you think:
Across the Universe
Thriller/Disturbia
Beat It
Jai Ho
Ramalama
Can-Can
This next one was done by my floor together with our sister floor (a wing in a girl's dorm who we do some stuff with). I'm not in it, but a lot of my friends are. If you want another perspective, I uploaded to facebook a video I took of it.
Footloose
This next one won 3rd place.
Make a Man
This next one won 2nd place.
Be Our Guest
These guys won first place:
Boom Boom Pow
Which one do you think should have won?

My Life These Days
Hey All, sorry about not updating sooner...
So, as you probably know, I'm currently in my Freshman (1st) year here at Taylor University. Taylor University is a private Christian university, and you can find out more about it at their website: www.taylor.edu. I live in Samuel Morris Hall on the 3rd floor, which is nicknamed The Brotherhood, or Broho for short. I'm currently a Computer Science major, though I might switch to Computer Engineering.
Let's see, what else is there to say... Apparently we had snow a week ago, but it was so little and so brief I didn't see it. There was frost covering the ground a week ago this past Sunday, though, which was pretty cool (no pun intended). =) Today the weather's really warm; it's almost 20 degrees. =)
My roommate's name is Nate, and he's from Kansas. He's a pretty cool guy. Our room's pretty sweet. We have our bed's bunked; we each have a desk, and there's a decent number of shelves. We also have a couch and a TV, which is pretty sweet, except when Nate keeps it on really late when I'm trying to sleep. =)
I have a job as a Lab Supervisor in 'The Dungeon'. The Dungeon is our nickname for the basement of the science building, where the computer science rooms are. There are three computer science labs, which basically consist of a bunch of computers for students to work at. As a lab supervisor I basically just keep an eye on things in the labs, and there are some random jobs to do around the Dungeon sometimes. For example, one job which we're in the middle of is dusting out the computers. It's pretty simple, consisting simply of disconnecting the computer from all wires, taking off the case and carefully spraying the inside with compressed air, then reconnecting everything.
Hmm... I'm not sure what else to say about my life here at Taylor. Any questions?
On a completely different note, I came across this song a couple weeks ago, and I think it's just amazing. Check it out:
"Beautiful" by Phil Wickham
A few other videos and/or songs I've come across lately:
"Rescue" by Seabird
"Death of Me" by RED
"Land Down Under" by Men at Work
"Who Can it Be Now" by Men at Work
