Oh my goodness this was fun!
So this month I hosted the first Annual Socktober party at my house. Gordon's amazing 2nd grade teacher last year was always coming up with ways to help the world around us. Well, during the month of October she had the students bring in socks for the homeless and Gordon was pumped. He loved donating socks and loved seeing all of the good they were doing for their community by giving socks to people in need.
Immediately I knew I wanted to do this with my class this year. However, this year came and I since I'm not teaching 3rd grade this year (instead I'm just teaching one day a week of Adapted Physical Education and selling Real Estate) I thought it would be a good idea to get a group of my friends together and have a girls night out.
We had a great turn out and I absolutely can't wait for next year. This was the evite I put out:
"Bring 3 pairs of new socks unwrapped (the socks can be the same or different). The socks can be funny, cute, cozy, sporty, hip, trendy..… anything goes. We will be doing a sock-swap and you will end up going home with 3 new pairs of socks. Yeah!
Also, since it is SOCKTOBER... wouldn't it be wonderful to help some others out as well??? If you have any extra new or almost new: men's, women's, or children's socks, there will be a basket to collect them in and they will be donated to a local shelter.
BTW, if you have time, click here to check out "Kid President," as he discusses his thoughts on SOCKTOBER! This kid is AWESOME!"
