1st Annual SOCKTOBER!

Oh my goodness this was fun!

So this month I hosted the first Annual Socktober party at my house.  Gordon's amazing 2nd grade teacher last year was always coming up with ways to help the world around us.  Well, during the month of October she had the students bring in socks for the homeless and Gordon was pumped.  He loved donating socks and loved seeing all of the good they were doing for their community by giving socks to people in need.

Immediately I knew I wanted to do this with my class this year.  However, this year came and I since I'm not teaching 3rd grade this year (instead I'm just teaching one day a week of Adapted Physical Education and selling Real Estate) I thought it would be a good idea to get a group of my friends together and have a girls night out.

We had a great turn out and I absolutely can't wait for next year.  This was the evite I put out:

"Bring 3 pairs of new socks unwrapped (the socks can be the same or different).  The socks can be funny, cute, cozy, sporty, hip, trendy..… anything goes. We will be doing a sock-swap and you will end up going home with 3 new pairs of socks. Yeah!

Also, since it is SOCKTOBER... wouldn't it be wonderful to help some others out as well???  If you have any extra new or almost new: men's, women's, or children's socks, there will be a basket to collect them in and they will be donated to a local shelter.

BTW, if you have time, click here to check out "Kid President," as he discusses his thoughts on SOCKTOBER!  This kid is AWESOME!"

Pumpkin Carving

Gordon and Ruby were into pumpkin carving this year and it was pretty cute.  Gordon especially wanted to carve another and another and another.  I think they may have carved 4 or 5.
For Family Night we ended up carving pumpkins and making sugar cookies, the kids enjoyed making, frosting, and eating the cookies.  Fun traditions!

Legoland Brick-or-Treat

The kids have been loving going to Legoland on the Saturday's in October for their Brick-or-Treat party.  The kids get to trick or treat through the park and they think it is the best.  Gordon dresses up as a Lego police and Lily dressed up as Minnie mouse but Ruby and Dallin decided to go just as they were.

Dallin ate more candy than I've ever seen in my life - this kid's got a sweet tooth like no other.

My Old Dress

A while back mom brought some of my old dresses here to the house.  The girls have had the best time playing dress up with them.  In fact, Lily wore this dress to school and was the talk of the town - it was pretty funny and she loved how "twirly" the dress was.  Thanks mom for saving all of these treasures!

20 year high school reunion

Eric and I attended out 20 year high school reunion at the beginning of September and it was so fun.  We drove up to Santa Rosa with the 4 kids and my parents took care of the kids while we attended the tour of the school and the reunion at night.  Two of my good friends put on the reunion and they did such a great job.  It was at a golf course in Santa Rosa and it was great to get in touch with old friends that I haven't seen in years.
One of my besties - Emi, luckily I get to see her when I go home but it is always a treat to see her.

Eric and I of course - High School sweethearts!  First date - senior prom!
The Thompson's!  We love Dustin and Mercedes so much!
The party planner herself - Julie did an awesome job planning the reunion.
Mariah - Mercedes - Emily

I got to see so many more people but unfortunately I was too busy talking to take pictures - darn!  I hope itn

Soldiers Hollow

Our sweet neighbor and Eric took the kids on a bike ride to "Soldier's Hollow" (a near-by spot close to our house that has trails) yesterday while I stayed home with Lily.
The kids had a blast and I'm happy seeing them out getting some exercise and having fun bike riding.

We still haven't gotten Gordon a new bike yet but Christmas is coming so we will see!
