Computer issues

I've been out of the blogging groove for the last few weeks which doesn't make me happy.  We have had computer problems with the laptop which has been frustrating.  However, I think we are back in business and will be able to continue with the blogging adventures.  I did feel like this picture though.

Gordon goes to Kathy's

(sorry couldn't figure out how to flip this picture)

We are back to school and back to Kathy's house - hoot! hoot!!!  All week Gordon continues to say, "Mommy, MORE KATHY! MORE KATHY!"  It makes me feel sooo good to know that he loves going to her house and that he has so much fun.  I still have to take him out crying (generally) because he doesn't want to leave Kathy's.  What a blessing she has been in our lives!

This week and last week Jamba Juice has had happy hour from 9:00am - 11:00am which equates to $1 - 16oz smoothies.  Gordon and I were both in heaven.  Normally when Gordon and I go to Jamba Juice he gets a little kiddie cup but this week he got his own BIG juice.  He was so super excited!!!  I love being his mother!!!

Quick trip to SR

Gordon and I took a quick trip to Santa Rosa a couple of weeks ago.  My brother Justin came in town and we were excited to drive up to see him.  Gordon did amazingly well in the car ride despite only sleeping an hour and a half on the way there (7 1/2 hour trip) and 40 minutes on the way back.  He was a little cutie and a fun little travel buddy.  Gordon got to see his Opa (Eric's dad) for a few hours at their house too.

Gordon loves being read to and brought uncle Justin book after book.
You know how we LOVE our Bobbi!!!
I was not feeling very well on the trip, super tired and just sick :( but Gordon loved jumping on top of me and snuggling with me, what a guy!  My sweet mom let me just sleep and sleep and rest and rest, it was so rejuvenating.
Gordon played soccer with dad in the back yard and then of course spent a lot of time in the fountains in yard too.
Mom made this super, duper scrumptious pie called, "Forgotten Pie" (it's Justin's favorite) and she makes it special for him every time he comes home, what a sweetheart!
We loved being in SR but it wasn't quite complete with out Eric, Gordon just loves his Daddy (as do I) and the two of them being reunited was just precious.

Blast those Metras genes

WARNING... NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACH WHO DOESN'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT BLOOD AND NEEDLES!!!

Today I went into to the Lab to get a bunch of tests done and blood drawn for this pregnancy and well let's just say it was a disaster.  Let me back up slightly and tell you that the Metras family does not have a good track record with needles, blood, and anything that goes along with that.  My dad has been know to faint instantly (I'll have to tell you about the time he came to pick me up from getting my wisdom teeth pulled and saw all of the tools they used - classic!).  At any rate I have had my fair share of fainting episodes that go along with this area as well.

After waiting over an hour and 20 minutes in the lab to get my tests done, I finally got called into the back.  Generally the technicians have a difficult time finding my veins and this of course causes my already weak stomach more anxiety.  Well, I was being brave and trying not to sike myself out.  I was cool and calm, they found my vein first time and I was feeling good... until she realized that no blood was coming out.  She had a basket of about 8-10 vials she needed to fill up and she kept hooing and hawing about my vein not giving her anything.  Okay I'm getting queasy just writing this, I may need to take a breather!!!!  At this point she starts flicking my arm, squeezing the needle farther into my vein (all the while I'm trying not to watch), and she continues to tell me how she can barely squeeze a drop of blood out.  After what seems like an eternity, she manages to get 1 vile filled but still has a gizillion to go.  It at this point (more squeezing, more flicking, more flexing of the arm, more telling me how zero blood is coming out) that I lost it.  Instantly, I had a cold sweat all over my body, I'm light headed and then bam fainted right there in the chair.  Next thing I know she is bringing me a "cold pack" (paper towels dipped in water) and she hands it to me.  I'm seeing stars, feel fuzzy, and am still sweating (remind me to tell you about the Metras sweat genes too... oh man that's a whole nother story), and laying there head hunched over the chair.  It was so pathetic and yet I felt so helpless.  Moments later she walked me over to another room where she laid me on a bed to rest for about 15 minutes.  As I'm laying there I'm thinking about those 7-9 other vials she still has to fill and well that just didn't help anything.  Finally, she comes back as asks if I'm ready to finish up.  I replied yes and she proceeded to take blood from my other arm while I'm still laying on the table and luckily  this went much smoother.  What a mess though!  I did so awesome with my Gordon pregnancy that I thought I had mastered the "giving blood" situation.  Well, looks like I was humbled yet again and am happy to feeling quite a bit better this afternoon!

Reminders of Bobbi daily

Gordon is such a funny, cute, little boy with a great memory.  Daily he talks about his Bobbi (my mom) "Mine Bobbi, Mine!"  He tells me about how he splashed water in her eyes, how they swim and splash in her pool, how she arrives here in purple acas (airplanes) in the sky, how she sent him a purple shirt in the mail, how she gave him fish playing cards that go everywhere with us, how she would go into his bedroom when he woke up (each morning he still says, "Where Bobbi?") then he precedes to answer his own question by telling me she is either at work or sleeping.  We miss Bobbi!!!  The end of September (our next reunion) can't come quick enough!  Love you Mama!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks for being the BEST Bobbi in the world!

Utah - Last Part - Temple Square

We went to Temple Square with the family and had a lovely time.  The day was perfect and the temple grounds are always so beautiful.  I love the peaceful feeling you get by just being there on the grounds.  We were also fortunate enough to visit some of our wonderful friends while we were on our trip and it's always a treat to see them and their darling families!

Utah Part 4 - Basement FUN

I really, really like basements and well so does Gordon.  He thought Oma and Opa's basement was the best playground in the world.  As soon as we would come home from an outing he would pull one of us down there with him to play.  He especially loved playing with his cousins down there.  Gordon played a lot of ball, cars, and even participated in his first ever talent show.  It was darling and Gordon loved copying his cousins tricks and stunts.  Lots of fun!

Ready position for his push ups, his head just mostly bobbed up and down, it was so cute!
The uncles and cousins participating in the talent show.
Gordon even found a pair of goggles he wore a good chunk of the night.

Anxiety...over a gas light!?!

Last week I got into the car and somehow I managed to let the gas get to EMPTY!  This never happens, in fact I literally can't remember the last time it happened.  Eric laughs because he knows it causes me great anxiety and he is always telling me that when the gas light goes on you still have tons of miles to go (I'm not convinced!).  As I drove to Costo (white knuckled, hands on ten and two) to get to the gas station I kept picturing my car running out of gas before I got there.  It's just soooo not worth the head ache it causes me running on fumes.  I hope this doesn't happen for a long time again, it's not good for my health.

Utah - Part 3 Bowling and bike rides

Daily we would go for bike rides around the neighborhood as we gazed up at the marvelous mountains and count our blessings that we live in such a beautiful land.  It was wonderful and Gordon loved it as much as we did.  In fact, we would usually get back to the house and Gordon would be shouting, "MORE! MORE! MORE!"  It was great!  Gordon especially loved riding in the bike trailer with his cousin, Knightley.
Bowling was another story...  We went to the BYU bowling ally and he was sure cute when we got there but didn't like the concept of taking turns.  Gordon wanted to bowl every set everytime, another big (UGGGGG!).

They had this nifty little ball holder for the kids that he liked but he wanted to do everything himself including holding the ball (sorry buddy not an option!)

Gordon wanted to chase after his ball as well... oops.  Hopefully next year bowling will go a little smoother.

Utah Part 2 - This is the place

One of the days we were in Utah we headed to "This is the place" and Heritage Park. It's a fun park with a petting zoo, a couple of trains, a panning for gold stream, pony rides, and a variety of other hands on activities. It was a great little place but we decided it would have been better for Gordon if he were with other kiddos. He wasn't super thrilled about the place and just wanted to be held most of the time (uggg!)

First lollipop!  Gordon was tickled, he earned the lollipop from the gold he panned in the stream.

 Choooo!!!! Choooooooooooooooooooooo!

Utah - Part 1 ACA

Gordon was so excited when he found out we were going to be traveling to Utah in an ACA (his pronunciation of airplane.)  He was just thrilled.  Of course he wanted to be in a purple airplane, then he changed his mind to an orange, then yellow, and finally blue.  We ended up on a blue and white airplane which he seemed to be satisfied with.  At the airport when we checked in, Gordon got his first set of "wings" from the gentleman helping us.  Gordon was over the top excited and was flying his wings all over before we boarded the plane.  Then, when he found out that we even got a "treat" on the aca his excitement grew ten fold!  He practiced saying "Chips please" for about the 15 minutes before the basket made it down the aisle to us.  Luckily the flight was only about an hour and 15 minutes but he was a gem and super excited.  We were off to a good start.
