Gordon had “school pictures” at Kathy’s house this Monday. Oh my gosh we were laughing SO hard when we saw these pictures Christine took. Christine is my buddy from work but also has her own photography company, www.makenajeanphotography.com She took some of the greatest pictures! Here are a few.

Boo Boo Pooh Bear
Gordon was in the ER on Halloween but these little gems were taken at Kathy’s house on Friday at childcare. How hilarious are these pictures?!? Are any of these little guys looking at the camera at the same time?
We have been looking forward to dressing up Gordon since last October when we bought Gordon 4 costumes on clearance at Target. How disappointed were we when we discovered that Gordon was too tall for all of the costumes except for the doggy costume. Thankfully Kathy was sweet enough to let G borrow this darling little Pooh Bear costume, we just wanted to squeeze him he looked so cute.

Straight Talk
Let me preface this by saying that I wouldn’t trade my situation for anything else in the world. Now with that being said, let’s talk. First things first, this parenting business is a MILLION times more exhausting, more humbling, and yet more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.
Welcome to my life this last week -
Gordon has been sick the last week and a half and has not been sleeping at all – we are talking an hour here, 30 minutes there and in between all of that intense screaming. On Sunday he started crying at 1:30 in the morning, the exhausted mother in me thought, “Oh I’ll just try this let him cry it out thing.” Two seconds later, I found myself in his room and I’m SOO thankful that I was. I found him lying in his crib sweating with a high fever, dirty diaper, erratic breathing, a barking-like cough, and a pale complexion. I was devastated to see my little guy in such a sad state. We hurried off to the ER where they treated our little Boo and we took him home 3 hours later.
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned yet how tired I’ve been, I thought I was going to loose it I don’t know how many times. I stayed home from work on Monday to take care of Gordon.
Tuesday rolls along and after another sleepless night, I somehow drive 50 minutes to work and the whole time wondering what the heck I am doing. Just when I think things can’t get more dramatic, it does. I’m pumping at my desk in my classroom at lunch time (like I do 3 times daily) when I hear a loud pounding sound on my classroom door. Keep in mind I have the lights turned off, both doors locked, and the curtains drawn. Sometimes my students will leave things in the classroom and try and retrieve them at lunch time so I didn’t really think anything of it and kept pumping away at my desk. Well, to my dismay a few minutes later this person who was knocking at my door came back and actually began unlocking my door and in walks one of my parents FATHER'S!!! Yes, one of my kids DAD’S walks in as I’m pumping!!! I was MORTIFIED! I frantically bolt behind my desk trying to get the bottles and cords off me without spilling my liquid gold. I mean seriously can you picture this all going down, I was a mess! I somehow manage to pop back up from my desk and say, “Oh hello Mr. So & So can I help you?” He looks at me like…”Are you kidding? Why are you sitting in the dark behind your desk?” Come to find out he was checking his daughter out early and needed to pick up her homework. Oh what a nightmare!
Wednesday, more deliriousness, no sleep again, and Gordon still not feeling well, which equals lots more crying and crying and crying (so much so that his little voice is hoarse – how sad is that!)
Thursday, after another exhausting day and many tears, I talk to Nessa, my great friend, who has a darling baby girl a few weeks older than Gordon. I seriously haven’t laughed that hard in a LONG time. It was SO refreshing to hear that I’m not the only one going through this wild roller coaster ride right now! Things were beginning to look up!
Friday, it was one of my students birthday today and to celebrate she had her mom bring ME lunch and her of course too!?! Have you ever heard of that? I hadn’t but thought it was the cutest, sweetest thing ever and it totally made my day. So things are looking up, I’m hoping it will be a good weekend! Oh the Diary of a Working Mom! I’m sure there will be more entries to come in the future, I’ll keep you posted.
