Couch Saga

I have been eyeing this sectional couch at Ikea for months. I have been wanting a gray couch for years! So when my friend gave me the heads up that they had moved lots of ikea couches to the "as is" section I headed right over just in the hopes they would have the one I wanted.  Well it was my lucky day! (or so I thought). This sectional is normally $1000 and I got it for $650. (including the brand new cover)
The problem was they gave me until close that night to come pick It up. This can be a challenge without a big car, a husband who works until 7 and a dinner appointment that night. After scrabbling to borrow a van, taking 3 trips there and back with the patient ikea guy to help me load and re load. I had to do the last part with my car and tying down the corner piece. I was scared to death driving home! But we made it one piece.
The next crazy part is as we were assembling the cushions trying to match them with the new covers we realized we didn't have all the right cushions. I guess that's what you get with an "as is" couch.  Ikea does not sell separate cusions..so we did a little dissecting and stuffing of our own and made it work.

It was quite the project that literally took ALL DAY, but in the end it was worth it and we love it so much! Now the real decorating can begin...in January, once we get a tax return! ;)

Pumpkin Patch!

We visited a Pumpkin nursery with our Preschool group. It was cute. We were happy that daddy was off work so he could come too. Lucy normally is too scared to be in a bounce house but with only a couple kids in there that she knows she LOVED it! So that was fun for her. They also had a little maze. Lucy picked out her perfect "baby" pumpkin. It was a fun little trip!

Erik's 29th Birthday

Erik's birthday was very low key this year. The day of, we made Daddy dinner, and cupcakes and gave him a few small gifts including one of Lucy's famous covered in stickers cards!!

On Saturday we celebrated with Erik's family with a little bbq and party. Lucy was SO excited a
bout getting balloons for Daddy. She thought it was the best surprise ever! Her other idea was to get Daddy a horse for his birthday...that didn't happen. Maybe next year on the big 3-0! ;)

We sure love this guy! Here's to the last year in your 20's!!

Erik's 10 Year High School Reunion

We started off the reunion weekend by returning to our Alma Mater and hitting up a Friday night Football game. We almost didn't go because it was pouring but I am so glad we did. I love watching football and there is something magical about High School football. I love the feeling! It was also so nostalgic to be back in our old stopping grounds. Lucy loved it too! Go Wildcats!

Then on Saturday Night we went to the dinner and reunion party. It was fun to dress up and have a date night. I was so glad Erik's sister Jennifer's class teamed up with Erik's to have a combined reunion. It was fun to have her and Taylor there to fall back on. It was weird to see all these people I had remembered from HS as the "cool seniors" (I was a freshman). I felt really lucky (and nervous) to be with Erik Fox the HS dream boat! ;)  I think Erik really enjoyed catching up with people. It was a fun night. I can't wait for my 10 year mark where I can sport this man candy on my arm! ;)

Major Photo Dump-October edition

I'm pretty good about taking pictures of every day moments I want to remember about Lucy. But I am horrible at blogging them so then we end up with really large, lame posts like this one. Buckle up.

Pants on the head look...silly girl!

Every once in a blue moon she will fall asleep somewhere random like this and I love it

Liking beaters after face!

We did a sticker club this month. Lucy LOVED getting mail and would immediately pull out her pad of paper and stick every single sticker in that pack on one sheet of paper in under 10 minutes. Seemed a bit wasteful but it became a ritual she looked forward to. The mail has ended for her yet she still asks if she got any mail when we go get it so i usually pretend the credit card bills are for her! :)

We also love getting our holiday packages from Nana and Poppa.
(I can see now looking back why she begs for mail everyday)
It is so fun!

Charlie is one of Lucy's new best buds. We watched him for a couple days while is mom went out of town. They had a ball together.
(yes...shorts in October! woo woo)

Operation "please entertain yourself during Conference weekend' mess.

The Marble race.
(we obviously don't do hair on conference Sunday)

Coloring!

Caught Daddy napping!

After church most Sunday's I am so tired! We come home and cuddle on the couch...well for 2 min. and then I throw a movie on for her and I fall asleep on the couch! :)

I kind of feel like a creeper. I love sneaking pictures of Lucy in the backseat while I am driving.
She is just too cute in her Sunglasses, back there chatting away!

We went to the mall one day with friends and the girls were trying on every hat they could get their hands on.

Pretty cute huh?

Some days we go to Dad's office for one reason or another.
Lucy loves playing on the phones and "calling" James.

 More spying on the kiddo.
She loves having the windows down (something her Daddy introduced her to...he is always more fun) So when I'm feeling nice I make her day.

AND she's out!

We heard of this bike trail along the Potomac starting at Mt. Vernon and going all the way downtown. We bought me a little beach cruiser off craigslist and headed straight to the path to do some biking one beautiful Saturday. It was awesome. We only did a few miles but it's becoming one of our favorite family activities.

The local Fire Station had a Fire safety day one Saturday Morning.
Lucy and I had fun checking it out.
Actually standing in line alone for 50 min. to get a lame face paint done was not my idea of fun but it made her happy! At least we got free food and killed time until Dad got home from work! :)

Lucy and I got haircuts from aunt Jennifer.

I can't even begin to tell you how much Lucy is loving Preschool.
It's awesome for her and me!
I love the days I get a break but I also love the day's I get to teach.
It's two days a week and one day it's 5 girls and the other it's just 3.
This was my lesson on Bugs! It was really fun!

Goldberg Wedding

The Fox family has been friends with the Goldberg family since Erik was in diapers. They were neighbors when they lived in Burke and have stayed close friends since.
We felt so honored to be invited to their daughter Lauren's Wedding.
It was fall time in Charlottesville that alone is perfect.
Even better it was at a gorgeous winery named Pippin Hill.
The ceremony was beautiful, the decorations were immaculate, and the food was divine.
I love weddings, I love going to them with my husband, there is just something about them that is so romantic.

Ordering Shirley temples at the bar...all the cool kids do it.

These pictures do not do it justice...it was amazing!

Such a fun, loving and gorgeous couple!

And a photo booth to boot! :)

James comes to town!

If there is one thing Grandma Fox can do, it's throw an awesome party! Cousin James lives in North Carolina and we don't get to celebrate his birthday with him ever but this year he came up for the weekend to have a "cousins birthday party"
I don't know what it is but James is probably Lucy's favorite cousin, maybe person. She is obsessed with him. She prays for him every night and talks about him all the time and she barely knows the kid! ha! Needless to say this might as well been Lucy's birthday as well because I think it was the best day ever! She was so excited to see cousin James. We did a Halloween carnival games type theme and a grand time was had by all!
Grandma had the "real" train set up.

James is so sweet to her.

 Ready for the games!
Bean bag toss!

Egg/Spoon Race

 Bobbing for Apples

Lucy was not going to attempt that! ;)

Gunny Sack races!

Pumpkin decorating!

 And what's a party without a PiƱata!

She is pulling this face in pictures a lot these days...I kinda love it!
Lucy and her scary witch pumpkin!
