Graham is officially our big boy. He has been in a crib since he was born and we just never felt the need or were brave enough to make the switch to a real bed. Late one night, we went in his room to check on him and found him all scrunched up in a little ball, with no room to move in his crib. We felt so bad that we decided to go buy him a bed the next day. We were very hesitant because he usually plays in his bed for about an hour before falling asleep. We were worried that in a big boy bed, he would be out the second we shut the door and playing with toys. But, we decided it was time to face that possibility and get our little boy more comfortable. We bought a bed and set it up in one night. We didn't get it done until about 10pm so we thought Graham would be so tired, he would just pass out immediately. Boy, were we wrong!! He thought it was so cool and got extremely wound up with excitement that he didn't actually fall asleep until about 11:30pm. WAY too late but he did it.
We put him to bed as usual and told him not to get out of bed until the sun woke up.We listened on the baby monitor to see what he would do and just heard him singing to all of his stuffed animals and telling them stories. It took about 45 mins but we finally heard the monitor go silent. When we went in to check on him, he was nice and snug, right in the middle of his bed. He looked MUCH more comfortable and Eric and I prepared ourselves for the first cry out or him coming into our room. We were pleasantly surprised to wake up in the morning having slept completely through the night and Graham was still sound asleep. He ended up sleeping until about 9:30am. He was very excited when he woke up that he did it! He slept in his big boy bed all night. He then told me "it was comferble mom!"
So far, we are happy with the big boy bed. We will see how the following nights go though. We might be regretting our decision to switch soon, but we'll hope for the best. :) Now onto potty training!

Definitely a Boy!!
Graham's ultrasound was very obvious that he was a boy and this one was no different. We went into our appointment with the hope of a girl, but the first thing the technician told us was "wow, this is a boy for sure!" He was spread eagle, ready for us to see exactly what he was. The technician didn't even have to move the wand around to find out. It was the first picture we got of our little guy.
Our baby boy is very healthy, as far as they can tell, and growing just right. His head is big like Graham's was so hopefully delivery will work out this time and I won't end up with another C-Section. His brain has developed well so maybe he'll be a genius like Graham. That would be nice. It's been too easy with Graham. He already knows more than the average 2 1/2 year old. Spine development and organs look great and heart is pumping well. He has all of his limbs and and is LONG!! His little profile reminded me of the first time we saw Graham on the ultrasound. They will definitely be brothers.
The baby was kicking and moving around so much that the technician took over 30mins to complete the ultrasound. At one point, she had to start poking my belly to try and get him to turn so she could measure his spine. He wasn't cooperating very well so I'm hoping that isn't a sign of how he'll be when born. They ask you to come in with a full bladder for a better look at the baby. He kept kicking it every time she tried to get a good look at him so I was very relieved when the ultrasound was over.
We can't wait until our little guy is here and we can snuggle up with him. Graham is already such an angel with babies that I know he is going to be a great big brother. He is always kissing and hugging any baby he sees (yes, even strangers in stores or restaurants) and is constantly saying, in a high squeaky voice, "Oh! That baby is SO cute!!!" He loves when someone lets him hold their baby and never wants to let them go. He tells me he is going to teach his brother how to say "mama" and "dada" and that he is going to help me make him burp. He loves kissing and hugging my belly and saying, "I love you little baby." It makes me tear up every time. It took us forever to get pregnant with this baby but I think he is coming at just the right time. We cannot wait for Christmas!!!!!

Happy Birthday Eric!!! You're going to be a daddy again!
Eric and I always try to get out for his birthday and enjoy the day without anyone else but this year was extra special. We were able to find out the sex of baby #2! We were both giddy with excitement and Eric thought it was pretty cool that the same doctor the delivered him 28 years ago, would be telling him what his baby was going to be and eventually delivering it.
Graham and I made some decorations for daddy's birthday and Graham painted his very own present to give to him. He also picked out a birthday card all by himself. He wouldn't let me have any part in picking it out so the card was a pretty hilarious choice. His logic for it was, "Daddy is a boy and the clown is a boy so daddy gets this card!"
Eric isn't a big fan of cake but LOVES pumpkin pie, so I whipped up a couple for his "cake" and we stuck the candles in. Graham loves the birthday song and was very excited to help daddy blow out his candles. We ended up eating the pie the morning of his birthday because he didn't want to wait for night. So why not? Pie for breakfast is always good. :)
Graham enjoyed the whipped cream the most. :)
And, as per tradition, we went to the store and Eric picked out the baby's going home outfit. He did this with Graham the day we found out and so we decided to carry on the tradition with this one. I think he did a pretty good job. Picture shown below. ;)
And so, after much anticipation.....

The Whale
We graduated!! Not from school (that would be awesome) but to the big daddy car. We truly feel like adults with this one. Now we're ready for baby #2!!
It all started when we got a flyer in the mail asking us to bring in our Santa Fe for a possible over value trade in. They were short on used Hyundai's and willing to pay a lot for them. We decided to just check it out. We had been talking about updating to a bigger car with another baby coming. We could have fit the other baby in our Hyundai but no one else could ride with us and it would have been tight. When we got there, we were immediately helped out by a really nice and eager guy. We took the Routan out for a spin and immediately fell in love with it. We never thought we would get a mini van but the features are so nice and kid friendly, that it is hard not to find value in them. We checked out what we could get for our Hyundai and were surprised to learn we could trade it in, get a HUGE discount on a brand new van (since it was the last day of the month and they were giving major deals) and get a better interest rate with a payment close to our Hyundai one. We got a 72 month warranty, completely free roadside assistance, towing and rental car all included in the deal. It was just too good to pass up. So, we went in with the intention of just looking and ended up bringing home a brand new car. Graham was thrilled to see the van and quickly nicknamed it "The Whale." We are loving our new car and are eager for our first road trip in this roomy beast. Now, we just have to get used to the fact that we drive a mini van...
