Kennewick and going home

We spent our last day, Thursday in Kennewick having fun. We went to pirate park again and had free rule of the zipline, which was unfortunate for me because Seth made me go down it. Doran also learned to swing at the park. I don't think he liked that his brother learned to pump before him.
Aunt Mimi reading the kids a story before bed.

Seth sending me down the zipline. I don't know how kids don't fall off all the time. I felt like I was going to go flying once I hit the end!
On the drive home we bought a powerball ticket in Boise. This picture would have been a lot cooler if we would have won!
Trip home stats. Crappy gas mileage. The average speed was at 73 until we hit traffic from North Salt Lake through Lehi, then crawling at 10 mph killed it. The boys have been asking me the last two days when we are going to go back to Washington!

Seattle!

Seth woke up Tuesday feeling quite a bit better, not 100%, but enough to eat and drive. We drove down to Bainbridge Island and ferried across the sound to Seattle. It was so fun for the boys and us. We drove our car into the parking lot and then went up to the deck and got treats and watched. It was really fun!
When I first told the boys about it they were nervous, but they didn't act nervous at all once we were on board. They thought it was so awesome.

It was pretty cold out on the deck. It was raining, obviously, and windy.

Seth's favorite part of the whole vacation was the ferry ride. I don't blame him, it was awesome!

After the ferry Seth, the boys, Cassie, and I drove in to the city to do the underground tour. It was really interesting and funny. Maybe not very cool for the kids though.

The next day we went to Pike's place. We got some yummy donuts for us and got Doran a vegan muffin and some fruit. Everything was delicious! The sun actually came out too, but there were still too many clouds for us to see Mt. Rainier.

 The world's first starbucks!
Ok, a little funny story here. We walked along the pier after we went to Pike's Place. We stopped and looked at the big fish aquarium outside the Seattle aquarium. There was a funny anemone that either didn't have tentacles or was closed. It resembled a certain piece of male anatomy and Seth noticed. He asked Ryan, "Hey Ryan, what do you think that is called?"  Ryan responded, "Well Seth, that is a sea-penis." Doran then started yelling, "I WANT TO SEE THE SEA-PENIS! I WANT TO SEE THE SEA-PENIS!" It was pretty funny and a little awkward. Thanks again Ry!
Doran eating his vegan muffin and Seth eating some of the World's best clam chowder!

Doran was soaked after walking around Seattle! His pants and shoes were dripping.
I had to take a picture of the burrito I got. It was so huge. Who can eat all that?

Dungeness Bay

After the game park, we drove up to the ocean. (I am breaking up the pictures into different posts because I am having a hard time uploading a lot of photos. I am really nervous about the 30 I have for my next post!) We went to Dungeness Bay. It is a little part in the Salish Sea (basically a bay in the Pacific) that is shelter by the Dungeness spit. So there weren't any waves or anything, just smooth waters and clam shells everywhere! The kids (and I) had a lot of fun gathering shells!

After that I asked if we could drive and find a spot of beach past the spit so we could actually see the ocean and waves. Ryan and Mimi were very nice and found an awesome spot! We were up on a cliff and just stood and watched and listened to the waves crashing. I was so happy we were able to do that. Even though we went to Seattle the next day, there is a big difference between the sound and the ocean! I loved it!

Olympic Game Park

The day we left the Wolf Lodge was one exciting day! We started driving and within 5 minutes we were pulled to the side of the freeway and Seth was barfing his brains out. So I took over behind the wheel and we kept going because he said he felt better and would just rest. We started driving up the 101 to the Olympic Penisula, our plan was to go to Sequim to a game park and then drive down to Bainbridge Island and ferry across to Seattle. After about 45 more minutes of driving through some of the most beautiful landscape I have ever been in, we were once again pulled over, and Seth was once again barfing. He had to throw up three more times before we made it to the game park. When we got there he threw up again. It was pretty obvious that we couldn't travel any further that day, so Emily worked some magic and got us hotel rooms in town. We took Seth back to the hotel so he could throw up in peace (which he did several more times before finally falling asleep), and we headed back to drive through the game park. HOLY COW! This place was so awesome! All the animals; zebras, lamas, buffalo, and elk, would just run up to your car and stick their heads in begging for food! It was so crazy and awesome... And if you ask Ryan, I was pretty freaked out around the buffalo.

Doran and Brock really wanted a picture of a bunny. Here they have it.

Bald eagles were flying all around the park and would just land and watch.

I wasn't the biggest fan of big heads and stinky breath in the car, so after a couple times I decided to just keep the window cracked for throwing out food.
Here is a lama, full head, in Ry and Mimi's car! Crazy!
Now, there was a sign saying not to finger feed the zebras because they bite. So one can imagine the fuss in my car while we watched the Cloward kids feed them! Brock had a talk with Emily about it later and told her she needs to read the signs.
The bears were probably the coolest part, I say probably because the elk and buffalo were awesome too... And scary. The bears were so funny. I never knew how smart they are. They would pose and beg for food and they actually have sweet faces if you can look past the fangs and not look at the giant claws.
After the animal enclosure part (which most of my pictures wouldn't upload, but I will try more later) we go into an area where it says to keep the car moving in. The lady told me when I paid to cruise along around 5 or 10 around the buffalo and not to stop the car because buffalo attack and damage cars. So we turn the corner and the road is blocked by two 10 foot elk! This is where I started getting nervous. They moved after a moment though and we started going again.
So then we turn the corner and we are now blocked by buffalo! Now I was really nervous! Luckily, they started moving out of the way because another vehicle pulled to the side and started feeding them! At that point I cruised passed Ry and company and on out of the park before our vehicle got trampled! Yes, I tend to over-react.
Even with my fear of buffalo tramplings the park was incredible and everyone really had a great time! (Except Seth.)
