Salt Lake Trib

This is picture is the headline for an article in the Salt Lake Trib today. I thought I would use it as my picture of the day considering that it is Seth's car they are showing! Reading people's comments to the article is interesting. Some people are so ignorant and some are smart. I like the smart people.

Sharky turns one!

Today is Sharky's first birthday! Doran and Brock have been counting down the days for it. We went to Costco yesterday and got him some toys for them to give him as gifts and a bunch of raw hide rolls for 'party favors'.

Doran had invited all the neighbor dogs to the poop park for his party. He had been telling people all week. It had a great turn out. We had Elli, Callie, Diesel, Cozy, Kota, Marley, Sequioa, and of course Sharky all there just running around like crazy! There were a few dogs who cared about nothing but the balls being thrown all over and the rest liked playing with all the other dogs. The boys had a blast and so did all the dogs!

All of the dogs that came were bigger dogs. We had a great dane there, lots of labs, border collies, and a golden retriever. It was fun to watch them all play and sniff!

Chewing

Supposedly it is supposed to be better when a dog turns one. Well a day away from one and here is Doran's brand new robot, destroyed.

Read-A-Thon

Friday night the boys and I had a read-a-thon. They loved it. We brought a whole stack of books into my bed and we read and read. We started with the Top 10 Deadliest Sharks (Doran's pick obviously!) and ended with I love you forever! It was a lot of fun!

Names

It looks a lot like the picture I took yesterday, but I just pulled their pjs put of the wash and realized I hadn't taken a picture yet... I will include a funny story that happened today with the toy they are holding to make up for my lack of creativity when it comes to picture taking. We got the boys a happy meal for lunchand they were trying to find out who was on the toy.
Brock, "Mom, who is this guy? He has the purple lightsaber."

Me, "Is it Mace Windu?"

Brock, "I don't know. He has the purple lightsaber."

Seth, "Is it the black dude?"

Brock, "No! It is the chocolate dude!"

Me (while trying not to laugh), "It is Mace Windu."

Doran, "I wish I got Rtitty2."(Poor kid can not say R2D2 for the life of him, but I like how he says it wrong.)

work nights

This is what my bed looks like on nights when Seth is at work... This is also a sign that I almost forgot to take a picture yesterday!

End of Season

Tonight Doran had his last basketball game. He talked all day of making a basket tonight. He wanted to so bad. His first play he stole the ball and passed it to a team mate. His next play he got a basket! I was so happy for him. He had a determined look on his face all game. After getting the basket he was pumped and played awesome. He got three rebounds and tried shots on all of them. They all barely missed. He was running after the ball every play and blocking his person. He did so good and I was so proud of him. After the game his team mate gave out little water bottles and Doran yelled, "Awesome! They got my favorite drink!" I don't think any little kid has ever been so excited about getting water.

The coach had a party for the team at Artic Circle after the game was over. She got everyone ice cream cones and had cute little basketball toys and balloons. All the boys had a ton of fun. He is really excited to start soccer next and is hoping some of his basketball team mates are on his soccer team.

Bookshelf

My step-dad gave me a bookshelf over the weekend! I love it. I need a few more books to fill it up completely, but it is looking pretty good while I wait!

Luke hair

Doran has been on a quest to grow out his hair like Luke Skywalker since November. Sunday was the first day that the bottom started curling and flipping a bit. It is getting much harder to style.

The Phantom Menace

Saturday the boys and I went to see Star Wars in 3D while Seth was at work. I didn't think they would do very well with the glasses so I was suprised they made it over 3/4 of the way through it with them. They probably would have made it the whole movie if I got them the adult size glasses. I haven't heard about anything other then Star Wars since.

Book Club

I have always loved reading, so much that sometimes I would rather read then sleep. Stupid. I have always wanted to be in a book club, but there hasn't been one around me. The beginning of last July I decided I was going to start one. I got people who would be in it and was ready to go, but then Poppy died and I didn't think of it again. Then the other day my friend asked if I was ever going to do anything with it, so I did. I found the old post and messaged everyone who was interested, picked our first book, and have our first meeting set up for in a month. Now I only hope Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is good!

The RV show

We went to the Rv show yesterday. We knew the boys were going to love it, they didn't know it until they were there though. They loved going through all the RVs and seeing the cool stuff in them. They really liked ones with bunk beds in them. There was a dog training demonstration going on while we were there and they loved it. The dogs were really smart and really friendly. They also got to play inside a big army jeep, pretty awesome stuff!

2/15/12

What Brock would do all day if he was allowed... and I don't mean fake smile, I mean play video games. Summer and warmth can't come fast enough!

Valentine's

Brock woke up on Valentine's morning with croup. He sounded awful. He wasn't too upset about missing preschool because he didn't have the energy to feel upset, but when I told Doran he couldn't go either he was devastated! He didn't understand that he could still spread it even though he didn't appear to have it. I tried to make up for it by cooking a good breakfast, I think it worked. Seth had flowers and chocolates waiting for me when I woke up! So sweet! We didn't have much alone time because we took Brock to the doctor and Dordor had a jr. Jazz game, but we went out to dinner after that together. I took a picture of the delicious chocolate cake that we got. I ate pretty much all of it by myself! So delicious!

Build-a-puppy

Seth and I took the boys to build-a-bear in the mall on Monday to let them make a puppy for Valentine's day. They loved it. They both wanted to get outfits and toys for their puppies, but I told them they had to save up their own money to buy them.

They had so much fun helping stuff the puppies and putting their hearts in them.

We made Audrey a pink teddy bear for Valentine's day. She loved it and kept cuddling it and saying soft. I thought it was really cute!

Sleeping Sunday

So peaceful when they sleep! Especially in their own bed!

8-11

On Wednesday Doran learned a new trick, putting fries in his hamburger! Talk about healthy!
Brock was excited to show his puppy for show and tell on Thursday!

Friday at the gym I couldn't help but do a little 'Bradying' during bicycle sets. I thought I was pretty funny.

Today I took a picture of Rod and Lynn for the ward directory and figured I would use it for my picture of the day too. I only have one other picture of them together and it was clear back in 2008! Definitely need to take more!

u swirl

Doran was a little stud at jr jazz tonight! He did awesome when he was practicing shooting the ball. It was fun to watch his face and see how focused he was.

He did awesome during the game too. He blocked a shot and stole the ball. He shot a basket but missed and lost the ball a couple of times. We were so happy though because every week it seems like he gets it a little bit more and tries a little bit harder. It will definitely help him be less shy a get confidence! After the game we took the boys to our new favorite place, U Swirl. It is frozen yogurt and you make your own. You get your yogurt (or in Doran's case sorbet) and then add your toppings and then they weigh it and you pay. They always have a random weight and if you hit it right on you get yours for free. It is actually pretty tough, but wouldn't you know tonight Doran nailed it! He was so excited he did a screech/laugh and talked about nothing else the rest of the night. He can't wait to go back and try again. I was just glad he got his 16 ounces of yogurt and toppings free because there is no way he could have finished that much!

Monday

I have been wearing Giants shirts every day since the playoffs started. I have had red and blue strips in my hair and red and blue nails. My nails didn't survive the game on Sunday. I chewed them so bad that they are so sore today and my thumb tip cracked. It was worth it though. (I struggled with my picture taking today.)

Super Sunday!

Sunday was the superbowl! I was so excited for the two weeks leading up to it! I was constantly looking for recipes to make. Seth had t0 work so it took awhile to get his schedule all sorted out so he could be home. He ended up getting home about 5 minutes after kickoff. We had lots of food and people here and had a blast. The best part was the game. I was so excited and nervous!

Seth picked Cody up after Bradshaw scored the winning touchdown. Cody didn't think Seth could do it, but he could and he did it twice so I could take a picture!

Seth and I ran outside with out Giants flag after they won and were screaming and having fun! I am sure our neighbors really appreciated it!

The boys were happy when the game was over and I finally let them play with their Giants balloons! I hope the Giants win the superbowl every year!

Saturday

Brock's breakfast...
Doran's breakfast...

Friday

Friday I found out that Lego obtained the license for the Lord of the Rings! Yay! Doran was just as excited as I was. Here I am showing him pictures of the toys he will soon beg for and the video games. Awesome!

gym playroom

Since the beginning of June Seth and I have been working out together. The boys go in the daycare and play. They love it! Today when we went in to pick them up most of the kids were dressed up. It was so funny. Brock was in a puppy costume and Doran had on a super hero cape. They were running around and having a blast! It was pretty cute!

30,31,1

Three days worth of pictures! First is my new haircut. A little shorter and a little blonder. I can't find my gray hairs in there now!

Yesterday the boys made turtles in preschool. Brock was very excited to tell me he named his Atom from Real Steel. Doran named his Eli! I laughed pretty hard when he told me that.

Today Doran has made his mommy cry twice! This morning Brock was eating a chocolate donut and Doran was watching him enviously and said to me, "Mom I want a chocolate donut so bad! Wouldn't it be so awesome if I wasn't allergic to egg?" It made me so sad because he normally is pretty good about not feeling bad, but he was sad this morning and it made me sad for him.

Tonight we were at Granny's and Doran came up to me and very quietly asked me, "Mom do people die?" He had been looking at a picture of Poppy and I think he was feeling confused. I told him that people do die, then he said, "But I won't ever die?" I didn't know what to tell him other than the truth so I told him one day he would. Then he dropped onto the couch sobbing. I held him like a baby for ten minutes as he cried and cried. He told me he doesn't want to die and he wants to stay with me and be happy forever. I told him I would die too and he cried even harder. I told him we would go to heaven and be together again, but he still cried and cried. I tried to explain to him that as long as we take good care of our bodies and eat healthy we will probably live a long time. It wasn't very comforting to him and he has been really sad all night. When he got home he asked me what will happen to all of his toys. I couldn't help but smile about that one. I told him he is going to be here to play with his toys for a really long time. :)
