New blog

Aside from my regular updates, I've decided to start a separate personal blog. If any of you are interested, you can just click here....or you can click on my name (right column under "contributors") to view my profile. From there you will see a list of my blogs, which includes this one and one called "You read my mind." The blog will include random thoughts that I didn't think were suited for this family blog. Let me know what you think. :)

Short update

Lots is always going on in life...but this is just a quickie. My 6th semester is winding down and I can hardly believe it! This semester has flown by, but I've absolutely loved it. Next semester is going to prove to be just as crazy. I applied for leadership in the Heber J. Grant program again, (if you're curious about it, just ask...I've been "advertising" it ALL semester long!) And I got something again!!! I've moved all the way up the ladder and will be one of TWO managing directors. Crazy!!!! The MD's are the two most very top student leaders, we are in charge of the whole program and oversee everything. It's gonna be intense!

Another cool thing...I applied to do this Summer Jam thing in Chicago. They take about 12 BYUI students to Chicago and hold a day camp for inner city youth. AND I got an interview! I'm halfway there...and I have a few good connections inside the program so I think I actually have a good chance. It would be amazing! On the off time we get to tour Chicago...go on a boat tour, a segway tour AND go see a broadway show! Cross your fingers and pray for me!

Well I guess that is all I have time for...gotta run to class. OH! Here's my address!!!

My birthday is coming up...so feel free to send me something!! HAHA just kidding. don't. :)

Love you all!!!

My big news

Hi family!

So much has happened since my last update. First off, I have a new address:

6127 Amherst Bay
San Antonio, TX 78249

Don't write that anywhere in pen, though, because in January I will be moving again. I'm going back to school full-time! I've been talking about this for two years now, and it's finally time. I turned in my letter of resignation a couple of weeks ago at work (I was nice and gave them a two-month notice) and found someone to take over my lease. Come January, I'll be packing up and heading to San Marcos (just a 45 min. drive from San Antonio). I am very excited about this change and can't wait to see what my future holds. Hooray for change!!! :)

I love you all!

We Moved!

Hi I am here really super fast to announce we have a new home. and therefore a new address... We moved up the street to a 3-bedroom house.

5773 N 10th St.
Ft. Lewis, WA 98433

we are doing really well. soooo busy unpacking and cleaning and all that. final inspection on the old home is on wednesday and we are busing cleaning like never before. Painting the old home back to white was almost like a nightmare but that won't stop me from personalizing my new home, considering we will live there for a couple years - until Josh gets out of the Army.

we are also joyfully preparing for Dana's 1st Birthday... we have a cute little Disney Princess Party planned. So far we have no RSVP to her party so we shall see... anyways, gotta get going - just thought I would let you all in on the scoop.

By the way, Dana was a duck for Halloween - she was sooo adorable (in case I forgot to mention it)... anyways, love you all and will write again here later....

Funny Updates

well, unfortunately I cannot find the cord that connects the digital camera to the computer to load the pics to the blog. But I will say that the pics we took of our family time at the park today were cute and funny as well... I used to take Dana out to the swings every now and again and they kinda frightened her then... Then I hadn't taken her in a while due to being super busy mom and wife... Today was a gorgeous day for once out here at Ft. Lewis, WA.... so I convinced Josh that he needed some fresh air and we took Dana out to the little park by our house. We sat her in the swing and pushed her... instead of being frightened she just sat there at squealed with laughter.... I being a little grumpy was coaxed by this innocent child to laugh heartily as well... then Josh and Dana went into a little tunnel and the plastic that the tunnel was made of made Dana's hair all staticky. haha! at one point every last hair on her head was standing straight out... it was too cute... she slid down the slide for the first time today... YAY! as long as she was on mommy's lap she liked it!

Watch out for your nose, fingers, chin, elbows, toes and such!!!! Miss Dana is out to eat you all! LOL.... Once again we find out chunky monkey teething... only problem is this time when she bites down to ease the discomfort her present two teeth leave wonderful evidence of the fact she definitely has them... the other day, Dana leaned over to me putting her hands on my cheeks as if she were going to give me a kiss and instead to my surprise she bit my lip... that squirt changed her mind at the last minute! LOL...

Many of you probably haven't heard... our family is moving again... but not tooo far from where we currently live. We are moving literally 2 minutes up the street (depending on traffic) to a 3-bedroom 2-bathroom 1-floor house... we got the house offer yesterday and are moving on November 5th.... soo...

the address is:

5773 N. 10th Ave.
Ft. Lewis, WA 98433

so we still expect to get some Christmas cards in the mail this year.... oh and don't forget Miss Dana is turning 1 on November 20th. We are having her big birthday party on November 21st.... anyways I am just rambling now so I will wait til I have something more important to say.... good bye for now...

Halloween Already???!!!

Well, it appears that 4 months have flown by without any news from this family. Have no fear - we have lots of updates to give.

Joshua is enjoying the little time he has to watch Dana continue to discover the capabilities she has to do increasing numbers of things. He loves to tease her and laugh at the annoyed funny faces she makes as a result. Aside from that, Joshua was promoted to Specialist in the United States Army on July 13th, 2008, just prior to his trip to Japan. Since his return from Japan in late July, his Unit has been training diligently for their fast approaching deployment next year. We are still assigned to the same Battalion just a different Company and Team. Josh recently went to Ft. Hood, TX where he visited the Emergency Room for a couple serious cuts to his fingers on his left hand inflicted by one of trainees. He doesn't get hurt often but when he does they are not minor injuries. We are looking forward to our upcoming Military Ball.

Teresa is also doing well. She spent the good lot of the summer tearing out the back yard and reseeding. So much work!!! Next time (if there is a next time) she is going to hire someone else to do it. She has enjoyed watching Dana grow and develop into a very healthy vivacious toddler. She is currently getting the house ready to be moved out of in the next few months including and not limited to painting 4 rooms, plugging nail holes, scrubbing walls, washing blinds, cleaning the carpets, bleaching the linoleum. As if all that wasn't enough, she is currently seeking Part-Time / Seasonal Employment to bring in just a little extra income. Teresa and Josh are also trying to succesfully make Dana a big sister. Teresa has donated way too much blood to the Madigan Laboratory for Infertility Assessment in the last 4 weeks. Hopefully this Baby thing will happen soon.

New Cut & New Color - done in August...

Finally to little Miss Dana Elizabeth. Wow! So much to tell. She is currently approximately a whopping 25 pounds. Still looking pretty chunky! She still hates Baby Food with a passion. She loves to eat anything she can feed herself. She holds her own sippy cups and loves to eat crackers and bread. One day we discovered she had sucked on a carrot stick for so long she had sucked all the juice out of it and all that was left was the outside skin. Needless to say we were quite impressed and surprised. The imp has discovered how to turn off Computers and Cellphones as well as change TV Channels on you. Yesterday, to our dismay we found our 11 month old Dana on the 3rd step of our staircase. She is cruising around everywhere. She doesn't care much for little people toys - she loves to meddle in Grown-ups toys such as our upright Piano peddles and reading Daddy and Mommy's books directly off the shelves. We were at Barnes & Nobles this morning and we handed her a baby book to read and she tossed it aside and went directly for the "Baby Development Book - the one with all the pictures of babies in utero." I am telling you - she needs a sibbling. She is a very sociable child that has to be discovering something, crawling somewhere, or talking to someone at all times of the day. It is hard to get her down for naps these days. We have been spending copious amounts of time at the Hospital between my appointments and those of our very close friends Sam (Hodgekins Lymphoma) and Lena (Pregnancy). So she discovered that everyone pays attention to her in all those waiting rooms. So anytime she wants to do anything impressive she crawls to the middle of the room and makes sure everyone is watching her for her to do something. Seriously, what a Drama Princess! Promise - that did not come from me! Don't know where she got that! She turns 1 already next month!

Mommy and Dana back in July sometime...

We can't believe how fast this year has flown by. Well that is about it for now. Now it is your turn to update!

Life is busy in the Embleton home! As you can tell with no posting for almost 3 months! In a nutshell ...Eli is working full-time and going to school full-time, Sarah is working full-time both inside and outside of the home, and our little sweetheart Owen is growing full-time and trying to keep up with it all! Our lives are full and we are blessed! We have also been blessed with our fair share of adversity lately as it seems everything is breaking, particularly the car. Oh well, as is old adage goes when it rains it pours! I let you know when we make it out of this trial alive!:) Here are some recent pictures of our happenings....

Where's Owen?!?!?
Fun at the Ft Sam Houston Park
Owen was terrified of the animals, he wouldn't even feed the ducks lettuce!
A helicopter just happended to land on base when we got there.
Apparently the Colonel had a meeting.
The soldiers were kind enough to let us tour it!

"Are you sure these things go here mom?"
Future pilot?
Believe it or not this isn't the first time we have had a lizard in our house.
Where are we living... THE JUNGLE?!?!?
Come on, really..... is it just me or does that tail
look like it could do some serious damage!
Owen is always ready and willing to help with projects around the house!
There's nothing like dancing barefoot, in a summer rainstorm!
(Aside from all the potentially dangerous pathogens swimming in the stormwater,
let's just try and remember what it was like to be a kid!)
Our first crisis as homeowners!
We slept the one night in the middle of the
summer heat with no air conditioning,
it was a very cool 91 degrees in the house.
It's a good thing we had the sellers buy us a home warranty!
Oh, and yes the leaking HVAC unit is on the second floor!
Owen is trying practicing early to fill some big shoes.
We told him maybe he should try by taking the garbage out first!
Last but certainly not least was the day that Owen got into the bandaids!!!
Thanks for reading our blog, hope all is well with you! We love "ya'll!"

Happy Birthday Josh!

Happy Birthday, Josh!
I love you!!!
Josh and the girls (I wonder why Rich, Jason,
and Jared aren't in this picture???)

So...I realized it's been a long time since I've updated the blog. Life has been really busy. I just started school a few weeks ago, and I'm already really behind. I'm at UTSA now and having a grand time. I am taking two political science classes. Both are required, but I'm grateful for them since the elections are coming up soon. They've been really helpful and interesting. I love the campus too. My only complaint is the lack of parking. I paid $160 for a parking pass (and that's not even the most expensive one!) and am only allowed to park in specific areas. I didn't think it would be much of a problem, but I drove around for 45 minutes last week trying to find a spot. I ended up missing class because I was so late. Oh well, not much I can do about that. The campus is really nice. Part of our student fees pays for a membership to the campus recreation center. It's a very nice facility with TONS of treadmills and other equipment, an indoor track, an indoor pool, and outdoor lap pool, a rock wall, and even a lazy river. It's pretty sweet. I go there right after class and on Saturdays. I actually enjoy working out there because it's so nice. Plus, I'm training for a 5K right now. Yes, I know that's not much, but I plan to jog the whole way. That's something I've never done before. But...I was really proud last week because I jogged non-stop for over two miles. Hooray! It was at a 0% incline, though, so I don't have quite as much endurance when I run outside with hills. Ha ha! I just signed up for intramural volleyball and am VERY excited about that. Our first game is tomorrow night. I'm nervous but so happy. I'll let you know how it goes. I hope I remember how to play. LOL! Anyway, that's about all that's going on with me. Work, school, church. Life is pretty uneventful, but I guess that's better than the alternative. I love you all and hope to hear news (whether eventful or not) from you soon!

Take care!
Becca

news from the Guinns

Hi All. Just a little update on our family.

Jeremy has been trying to get out of the Cath Lab and into a Sales position ever since Sarah was a baby. The right job just hasn't come up until now. Jeremy has interviewed several times with a new sales company and finally, he was offered a position. We are all really excited about it because he will be home more. No more weekends or being on call. We are really looking forward to eating dinner every night as a family again.

Ash moved out and is in her dorm at college now. Her room is tiny, of course, but she is really excited to be on her own. We helped her move in and get her room all set up. It looks really cute and hopefully she will feel at home soon.

Sarah went to meet her 2nd grade teacher last night and she is thrilled to be starting school again on Monday. She talked about how much she wanted to go back to school all summer long! She just loves school.

Liam is finally fully potty trained. He even taught himself to go standing up "like daddy". He is so proud and he thinks he is such a big boy.

Austin is finally talking a lot. It seems like he is bilingual- or maybe he just understands other languages. The only way to get him to sit down is to say sit down in Spanish. And when he says thank you it sounds like "Danka" like in German. It's funny.

Along with all the fun news, we also have some sad news to report. On Wednesday I went to the doctor and they did a sonogram and found that the baby had no heartbeat. I ended up having a miscarriage on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. We are all really sad about it and having a hard time knowing how to deal with something like this. Please keep us in your prayers. We love you all.

hello from washington

so I just wanted to stop and contribute while I am thinking about it. Congratulations. Stephanie, again on baby #5 coming soon... Josh and I are super excited.....

Just recently Josh and I got the news that he is deploying for a year in March 2009. So, we are both kinda trying to get used to that fact. We are being sure to especially enjoy the 7 months we have left together as a family before he leaves. :( On the upside of that... Dana and I will be moving to Texas for that year to be close to family. I can't wait to get to know you all down in the great state of Texas! I can't wait for Dana to finally get to meet her Aunts, Uncles, and all those cousins! On the way down to San Antonio, we are planning on stopping by all the sibblings towns and saying hello. and Richard that includes you - especially you considering I have never met you or your family. I am dying to see Heather's new home. Unfortunately, for me to come visit you Jared, you kinda would have to be on the continental US. my car can't fly! LOL!

I am going to ask you Stephanie, Sarah, and Becky to keep an eye out for a decent apartment (2 bedroom - at least) that is near you all! Cause I need to start planning! So Josh knows what's going on before he leaves! Hopefully by then we will be expecting again (pretty much for sure) so I will most likely have another baby while I am down there. YAY - won't deliver at Madigan! Well, that is in the plans - we'll see how it really happens! LOL

Josh and I went dress shopping on August 1st. We were going to a Prom Night at Barnes & Nobles cause a new book was coming out. Turns out the Night looked like it was a teenage thing so we left but dress shopping was fun. Here are a few pics... It gave us a reason to dress up and go out together just the two of us and reunite. Fall in Love all over again! Wonderful Evening!

Dana is good! She has figured out how to go through Mommy's purse... LOL

In the Act........

"you caught that? yeah - I guilty"

Well, Dana had her Post-Op appointment on 7-31-08. Everything was good. Her next appointment is in 6 months. perfect timing. After that it is once yearly! YAY! I am so proud of my baby girl!

Hugs to all of you! And Josh, Dana and I love you all so very much!

¡Amo a España!

In case you somehow didn't know, I recently went back to Spain for a quick visit. Martha (a girl I taught on my mission) got married in the Madrid temple, and I didn't want to miss out on that. A friend of mine (Ashley) came along for the ride, and we had a blast. There was a civil wedding on Saturday, followed by the temple ceremony the next Tuesday. The wedding was so much fun! It started at NOON and lasted until 11 PM. We ate more than I ever thought possible and then danced the night away. We became friends with a group of Iker's (Martha's new husband) buddies and hung out with them most of the night... they even invited us to go out after the wedding was over. It was fun being the exotic foreign girls -- I'm not used to getting that much attention, and I kinda liked it. :) One week was definitely not long enough, but we managed to do a lot in that short period of time. Unfortunately, we didn't make it out to see the running of the bulls (boo hoo!), but I guess it was for the best... at least that's what all of our new Spanish friends told us. They were glad it didn't work out -- it's not the safest place, especially for foreigners. Below are some pictures from the trip. Also, check out the links section to the right of this post. One of them is a link to my YouTube page where you can view several videos I took during the reception. The other will take you to my photo album on Facebook. Go check them out to get a better idea of how amazing it was to be back there.

This is a picture of me in Bilbao. I love the yellow building (I'm not sure what it is) and the "Bilbobus" in the background .

Here I am at the beach in Santander. We were only there for a few hours, unfortunately. I served in this city and would have enjoyed seeing some of my old friends, but I didn't know how to contact them. This was a last-minute trip (we had an extra day since we didn't get to go to the running of the bulls), so I didn't plan ahead. :(

Santander again.

And again...

OK, now go check out those other links. Worth your time, I promise. Oh, and be sure to read the photo captions so you know what everything is. I love you all!

Summer Fun

So Dana and I went to a Women's Retreat last weekend and it was soo much fun. I had an amazing experience. As a matter of fact such a good experience I am planning on going to the Women's Retreat my Community is doing in Australia next March. If I actually make it all the way out there, man I will be sure to take a lot of pictures.

so about Dana and I and some of what we did. It turns out Dana absolutely loves water. She spent quite awhile in the hot tub (it wasn't too hot - it was actually like warm bath water). She can float on her back and she discovered the annoying playful art of splashing. once she discovered it she was doing it to everybody. It was too cute. My baby is growing up really fast.

Mother-Daughter summer pose.... S-M-I-L-E

I made matching outfits for the weekend. I don't have any good pictures of them at present but I will soon. We got compliments all day. It was cool.

I was able to take some beautiful pictures of the deer at the Retreat Center Meadow.

Photobucket

here it is looking at me.
Photobucket

here it doesn't know I am there.

It was really neat. it seems we get so caught up in the rush of life that only when we find ourselves in the middle of nowhere we remember the simplicity and beauty of life.

I have this new thing I really like to do. I love to record music on MySpace. Here's a pic of me with my Microphone/headset. I am recording a CD for Joshua for Christmas with his favorite songs on it. I have a friend who is letting me use his recording studio for free all I have to bring is the background music and my voice. So I am excited about that.

For those of you who don't know, this year I am officially opening my Business: Heavenly Presence - Custom Gift Baskets for all Occassions. It's Grand Opening will be October 1st, 2008. So for those who have trouble getting gifts for the name you picked out on time, I can solve your troubles. :) Here is the first one I did and am auctioning off:

Guinn Family Update

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I have talked to most of you. We have been enjoying our summer together. This is our last summer with Ashley as a "child". She is off to college next month, and she is totally excited. Sarah is more than ready to step in as the "big sister in residence". She has big plans for her new responsibilities. Liam is 3 years old today! He is finally potty trained (YAY!!). We had a Mickey Mouse party for him and all his playgroup buddies on Friday. There must have been 20 kids here and it was crazy, but lots of fun. Austin has decided that he loves babies. We take turns with other families at church volunteering in the nursery and last week there were 3 new babies. Austin couldn't stay away from them. He gets this really high pitched squeal that he uses when he see animals (and apparently also babies). He kept doing his squeal and going over to the babies and trying to hug them all. He was totally smitten! I guess that is a good way to lead into the next bit of information..... we are expecting another baby in March! It is a big (huge) surprise, but everyone is pretty excited about having a new baby to love. And I guess we have seen that Austin loves babies, so that is good. Well, I hope you are all doing well. We love you all and hope we can arrange some type of a reunion soon!

Monday, July 21, 2008

Hey everyone! If you haven't already noticed we have our own blog now. We thought this family blog thing was so fun we decided to make our own. However I am about as good at udating it as I was updating this one...:( Sorry I'm trying to do better! I just made a post on the other one and I am going to try and see if I can copy it to this one. So here goes! We love and miss you all!

Ok so I know it has been forever since we posted! We have been busy and having a great summer so far. Eli is busy keeping up with summer school. It is amazing how much coursework they can cram into 5 weeks! We recently celebrated our 5 year anniversary by going to the world's best waterpark, Schlitterbahn! We had a blast! Their most popular slide is called the master blaster. It is actually a 6 story "water coaster" with 8 uphill blasts! Owen just continues to amaze us everyday! A few nights ago we were watering the grass and it was a full moon. Owen says "oh mommy look at the moon! (pause)... (gasp) It's moving!!!!" He is just so fun! Here are some pics below of what we've been up to.
Our birds hatched a month ago and aren't they so cuuu.... ugly!:)
Much cuter!
After a long day of play, nothing beats a nap in mommy's clean laundry.
"Oh man, do we have to go home now?!?!" One of our "projects." We love our new pot rack
Watching fireworks on the trunk of our car with daddy.
Sarah had to work the 4th and 5th but that didn't stop the firework fun.

Boo, I scared you!"
