Books of 2014

I'm pretty chuffed with my book-reading of the past year; 56 in all, not including recipe books and the like. (Maybe I should include those for this year? Hmm). Anyway, it looks like it was a good mix of fiction/non-fiction, and I had the joy of discovering a few new-to-me authors, such as Barbara Comyns and Paul Magrs, which, quite frankly, is the best thing about working part time in a library.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

Promo Crimbo cards all written, stamped and sent; all 119 of them :-o Lovely stamp designs this year, too.

This year's lovely Crimbo stamps are by the uber-talented Andrew Bannecker. See them all here. Blimey, that would be the most amazing job ever. (Hint, hint, Royal Mail).

Long Time, No See

Hello, Blog.

I know, I know, I'm a terrible owner; you'll be calling the RSPCBlogs on me soon. In my defence, things have been rather crazy on the work front lately. But, all work has been completed and I have had a couple of rather more sedate weeks drawing up my Christmas card (fun), catching up on my accounts (not so fun), and taking the opportunity for a bit of a breather. Next on the cards is quite a lot of shameless plugging and updating my websites/portfolios. In the meantime, have a lovely winter sunrise from this morning:

Seem to have gone for Vampire Clown this year

@jayleon72 has gone for Minecraft. Obv.

Last night's last minute witch

I remember there was a lot of blue alcohol and everyone wore my glasses.

Minecraft pumpkins, last minute witch costumes, way too much blue alcohol. Happy Halloween!

Found an amazing tea shop in Bexhill yesterday, The Little British Tea Shop. This is the savoury tea for two: three types of sandwich, mini pork pies, homemade black pudding and pork and onion scotch eggs (sesame seeds in the coating - yum), and cheese an

(Slightly disappointing amount of restraint on the ice cream, though. Pity.)

Oh Dear...

...my poor, neglected blog.

Life has been just a leeetle bit crazy recently. My latest illo projects have come to an end, another is no longer going ahead, so I am in the highly unusual position of being illo-free until end of July/beginning of August. I have to say, it feels rather nice! I'm just getting used to having two full, free days a week to do my own thang; some stuff around the house, some getting out and about, some personal work. I'll keep you posted on my arty/crafty/explorey progress....!

In the meantime, have a sculpture:

I haven't Photoshopped these words in, they're actually there.

(It really is a sculpture; just up the road from me. Amahzing, right?!)

Month's End

Another January over, another traditional first month of the year blog-a-thon.

It's not been quite as hard this time as it has been in some years to come up with a blog post for every day of January; possibly thanks to all my photos of Stuart the Minion. Again, as I seem to puzzle every year, I'm not sure why blogging every day in January appeals so much, but here I am!

Again, I don't really have any firm resolutions for the coming year, and, again, I've found it easier to make a plan at the end of the month rather than the beginning, when I might now have some kind of inkling of what kind of year it's going to be. Busy, I think! (When isn't it?!)

There is a new PT job and a new(ish) flat in a new town, and lots of exploring to do around these parts, which is very exciting. Hopefully there will be more illustration work and the new PT job means a bit more of a regular income to keep paying those bills, and, who knows, maybe even enough to save for that four legged friend we've been wanting for so long!

Definitely, though, I want to continue on the plan I decided on last January, which is REDUCE. A load of stuff got donated/recycled/sold before the move, but there's so much more that can still go.

(Not the pictures of minions, though, right? They can stay, yeah?)
