Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas!!

We’ve had a busy year, but all is well.

Kevin was at the University of Washington, and has now transferred to WGU, an online university, to finish his last twelve classes of a business management degree, and has finished five of them in six weeks! We are excited for him to get through with his Bachelor’s degree, and will most likely be in grad school soon.

Emily has been busy with the two little boys, taking them to preschool, doctors’ appointments, various therapy sessions and all sorts of fun places with Grandma Julie J. Both Channing and Callan have Cystic Fibrosis, and are doing very well, but tend to get every cold/virus floating around, so winters are tough. Visit cff.org for more info on CF. They really are very healthy kids, and you would never know J.

Channing and Cal are just the cutest, busiest little boys ever, and love to read, play legos and blocks, watch movies, and eat lots and lots of treats. Channing is in a speech therapy program in preschool, and is doing very well. It’s so fun to hear him put sentences together and have actual conversations with him; he has a fun sense of humor. Cal loves to be attached to my hip helping me do laundry and dishes, and would read books all day if he could.

We have been living with my parents for the past three years and had an opportunity to move into an apartment about a mile and half from my parents, which we love, and are glad we are still so close to both of our families. We have also started a cupcake company recently, and when we get our website up in the next few weeks we will let you know! It’s been a work in process for several years, and we are excited!

We are happy with where we are right now in life, and are trying to enjoy our sweet little boys, even though they keep us pretty busyJ. We are so grateful for the many blessings from the Lord, and how blessed we are to have our families close, our little boys with us and healthy, and a fun and happy marriage. We hope you have a great Christmas, and we’d love to hear from you!

Love,

Kevin, Emily, Channing and Callan Griffin

Summer!

Wow!! Our little Callan is 1! So, he has to always have a UC Cal shirt that fits him, because we call him baby Cal. Channing can say "baby Cal" really clearly, and Callan sounds more like "Callie", but Channing definitely loves his little brother, and Cal is always in Channing's business :)

Mr. Cal is always trying to get a ball, and actually says, "ba" pointing to a ball, so i think that's pretty advanced for a one-year-old, i tell him so at least. But with Channing's speech delay, almost anything Cal says now sounds super advanced :)

Cal is finally getting up on the steps at the kindergarten playground, so he is really trying to be big!
  the sweet griffin boys...

when i was in fifth  grade, brian speers, a kid i hated, told my mom, who was our PE teacher, "Oh, you're "Big Lips' " mom?" what's funny is that i don't remember being called "Big Lips", but it's true :) so you can see that i've passed that trait on to my kids, and my husband tries to be cool too :)
This doesn't show it very well, but Cal can get his lip all the way out there...something i used to do when i was little too :) so did channing. some adult in my family used to tell me to get my lip back in or a bird would come poop on it :)
 Here's channing's lip:
and the original "Big Lips": very attractive picture :)
like i said, kevin's trying to be cool and fit into the Big Lip club
 woot.
We had such a fun time playing with our cousins the last two weeks, and channing is talking up a storm, which is great.

We have had a great summer playing at parks, going swimming, floating down rivers in tubes, going to the beach, and visiting with lots of family members. Thanks for the great summer, everyone!

#1 boy

Our little Callan turned 1! Where did that year go? Since he goes by "baby Cal" he always has to have a UC Cal t-shirt that fits him...it's just too cute :) i had a big post that just disappeared so this one is shortened, but just about cal...as it should be :)

So...here's the specs on Cal:

Favorite food: crackers, Pediasure shakes, anything sweet, especially cookie dough or cake batter :); yogurt, peanut butter crackers or sandwiches :) such a cutie!

Favorite pasttime: pushing Channing's buttons :) always around Channing, trying to be just like his big brother, but likes to instigate his fair share of Channing's brotherly roughness :) he loves to read, and try as i may, he will not watch a tv show :) complete opposites these boys...in some things.

first sounds: ma, da, ba, pa, says "ba" when pointing to a ball, which i think is pretty advanced, and i tell him so :)

Overall: Callan is such a sweetie, and he just loves to wake up and snuggle, and then he's off to get into stuff for the rest of the day; he takes 3-4 naps a day, all of which are in his car seat, whether he's in the car or not :), he has to go see who comes in the door, and has to get a hug from them, and then he's fine. he has four teeth, one more is almost in, and four or five more are trying to come through. he weighs 24.4 pounds and is 31 inches long. so he's a tall, skinny boy, but we love him, and are so glad he is so healthy and is in our family!  Love you, big boy Callan!!!

yay for spring...maybe :)

So, we are ready for spring to get to Seattle, but it's been snowing for the past four days. we had one nice day last week, but since then, it still wants to be winter. i don't agree. the boys have changed quite a bit in the past few months :) we have a crawler :)
and an almost 3 year old :) he thinks he might be a doctor someday; i say, "go for it, buddy!"
Channing's starting to talk a lot more, and it's cute now, he'll say, "Say ah!" with the tongue depressor or the ear thing he has here.
my sweet boy got invited to his first friend birthday party. he had a good time.
wearing his super tights, his compression suit that helps regulate his body and helps with tantrums and other sensory issues that we've discovered in the past six months.
he's such a sweet, fun little guy!
he loves to help his little brother, and would not let the baby try to drink his cup by himself.
showing off his cowboy muscles :)

Merry Christmas!!

So, we went to the church Christmas breakfast for the first time today, but only to set up and take down :) But also to get our first Santa pictures taken. We were the last ones to get the boys pictures taken, so we also got to have our family picture taken. there is a nice lady at church who also has a photography business that takes all of the pictures and emails them to the families. Thanks Becca! Kevin wishes he shaved this morning :).
Channing doesn't know who Santa is yet, but he didn't mind sitting up there and getting some candy. Callan loved it...puffy tummy and sleeves to snuggle against, and he tried to help Santa remove his beard :)
It's fun having kids who are starting to get old enough to understand holidays, and hopefully Channing will have more fun at Christmas this year...he finally gets Halloween! :)
Merry Christmas! Kevin is done with another semester and we get a few weeks to have him around more :) yay!!
Have a happy, happy Christmas....love, the griffins
