Today is our sweet boys 1st birthday. I really don't know where the time has gone! It seems like yesterday that we had him. I have to admit, I am sad to see my baby growing up so quickly. I know we have so much fun in store for us as he gets older, but I don't feel like I had the time to cherish the little things this time around. I was able to really soak up the first year with Elle. We spent every second together and I had so much intentional time with her. Beck has had to adjust to going with Elle's schedule and just be along for the ride. He was meant for this role though! He is so laid back and easy going. He adores his sister and would do anything to see her happy and smile. He loves his momma and daddy and everyone else in his life, for that matter. He loves attention and getting a big smile out of strangers. He is the happiest little guy I know and I thank God daily for blessing us with such a sweet boy. He has made the adjustment to big sister very easy on Elle. She has not skipped a beat because he is so easy going and will do whatever we need him to do.
We have had our hands full at night for most of his life though! He is a great napper (most days) and goes to sleep at night really easily. But he has been sick so often his first year that he never had the chance to learn how to sooth himself when he wakes up in the night. I think we finally have him sleeping all night but he is a EARLY riser! He is awake most mornings at 5:30 and ready to rock-n-roll. I think we are pretty used to this now but it will be nice to sleep in one of these days!
Beck you are on the move these days and loving the walking experience! You get so proud of yourself and clap and smile from ear to ear. You are trying to pick up your pace a little so I think you will be running soon. You love to stack and put things inside buckets, wagons, and boxes. You think it is pretty fun to push anything that will move. You love balls and throw back and forth to us. Cars and trucks are becoming a favorite of yours too! Luckily you got several for your birthday and are loving pushing them around the house while growling. Such a boy! I love it. You love to lean on things/people and put your head on our laps. It is too sweet. You LOVE bath time especially when sister gets in with you. You are wild man in the water and soak the bathroom with water. You love books and we read to you before bed every night now. If we don't, we will hear about it from you! You are a dancer and have some hilarious moves!You are an awesome eater. You love peanut butter, cheese, peas, potatoes, oranges, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, apples and baby mum mums. You are drinking whole milk now but only when it is warm. Your sister was the same way! Why do I do this :) You worship your daddy and get so excited when he gets home from work. You are looking so much like him and that makes me so happy. He is a handsome guy bud! You are lucky! You have not had separation anxiety issues yet. You go to anyone who wants to hold you. The ladies at church adore you and think you are a riot. They always have new stories about how silly you are. You say "hi" to anyone who will listen. You aren't saying many new words but babble non stop. You are wearing 18 month clothes. What a big boy you are! A week and half ago you were almost 23 lbs!! Healthy little man!
You are such a joy Beck Durham! You will always be my baby! I pray every night that you keep your sweet spirit and always have the Lord in your heart. You are going to do big things in your life baby! I just know it.
