Miles, Elle and I packed up late Friday afternoon and drove to our home town, Abilene. I have been looking forward to this weekend for a while now. Both my sisters and their family's were going and it had been a while since we had seen each other. And, of course, we were excited to see my dad and Marsha. They are always so hospitable...dad cooks the entire time and we all eat our weight in food! This weekend was no different :)
Susan's sweet kiddos, Aidan and Ally, have gotten so big and are cute as can be. They were so sweet with Elle. Aidan would come up and love on her and tickle her. It was precious. And E and Ally would sit on the floor and play. Elle was just in awe of her and watched her every move. Bonnie and Dave brought their babies, Jake and Josie (their labs). They have the best time out at my dads. Josie didn't care that it was chilly, she got in the lake every day. They are so well behaved...just run around with out leashes and stay close by. If you know my dogs, you know that that would never happen if we took them :)
On Saturday we hung out at the house and ate lots! Bonnie, Aidan and I went into town and got lots of pumpkins to paint and carve. We also picked up our grandmother. She has been under the weather lately, but was a trooper and came out to dads to spend time with all of us.
We got all of the kids in their diapers (well not Aidan....he was in an old Tshirt) and started painting the pumpkins. It was such a site. Elle automatically got paint all over her belly and was trying to eat everything in sight. Dede, you will never guess where I found the eye ball!! I will have to tell you about that :) Anyway.......Ally and Aidan had the best time and we got some great pics. I shouldn't say WE got some great pics! David is the best photographer and we rely on him to take all of the pics. Thanks DAVE!!!
Later we got everyone cleaned up and put the kiddies to bed after a yummy dinner. The "big kids" carved the pumpkins later that evening. It was a riot. Dave is supposed to be sending those pictures so I will post when I get them.
Today we had a great morning....ate breakfast burritos at La Popular and then headed to the Abilene Zoo. It is not the biggest or best zoo but it brings back so many childhood memories. Elle loved seeing all of the animals and it was so much fun to watch Ally and Aidan run around.
It was an amazing weekend with my favorite people (minus my wonderful momma and her hubby Rich :) I always leave a little sad that we are all so spread out but I am so thankful to have such a great family. Love you guys!
