So Brave

The girls were excited to get to spend the day with their Aunt Katie. We made a trip to the Mall today. Of course with the mention of the word "mall" Savannah will let you know that is where the carousel is and tell you how to get to it. Since it had been a while since Savannah had enjoyed this treat, I let her ride the carousel. She has been scared of any of the horses or animals that go up and down and has restricted herself to the bench. At Disney World she finally agreed to ride the short horse and loved it! She vividly remembers not being scared of the horses after that. Of course my fearless 2nd child took to riding the horse with all smiles! What a fun memory for the day.

Savannah at 4

I've been trying to get this post done for a while now. It seems like you have grown and changed so much since your 3rd birthday, and when I go back and look at pictures it really confirms that.

At 4 years old...
*Have gotten very independent and enjoying being a big girl.
*Have grown so tall.
*Your hair is getting long; you've only had one hair trimming.
*Love playing with purses, bags, and baby dolls.
*Love playing dress up.
*Can dress and undress yourself. Still need help with shoes and buttons.
*Love tutus and dresses that spin. You *think* you know how to do ballet.
*Enjoy coloring and crafty projects, but not for long.
*Ask for a "playdake" (playdate) with someone all the time.
*Play well with most all kids. You can cousin Rebecca have your fight like sister moments though.
*Enjoy watching any of the Disney Princess movies. Your favorite character seems to change just about every week.
*Switch back and forth from enjoying shows on Disney and PBS kids.
*Still take an afternoon nap on most days.
*Can be very sensitive at times.
*Like going to the park, you have overcome your fear of slides and can just about pump yourself on the swings.
*Love going to your grandparents' houses to play.
*You have to have a book and song before naps and going to be at night.
*Usually play very well with your sister.
*Have adjusted well to living in Birmingham again.
*Still talk about how much fun you had on our trip to Disney World in Feb.
*Usually good at following directions and helping your mother, but are not so good at picking up your things.
*Eat pretty well. Favorites include: chicken, pizza, sandwiches, ice cream, broccoli, strawberries. You often prejudge food and tell me you don't like something before trying it.
*You recognize the letter "S" and a few others, but have not been interested in learning to recognize all the letters when I have tried to teach you.
*You attended a preschool 2 days a week last Fall while we were still living in Madison.
*You love to sing any song you know and often make up songs to tunes you know.
*Have done very well learning memory verses and bible stories in bible class.
*Wear size 4-5. Shoe size 10.

You do not go for your 4 year old checkup until the end of June, so I do not have your official stats yet.

We were able to go out for our annual photoshoot on your birthday. Here are some of my favorite shots.

Motherhood

There are so many daily joys and stresses with being a mother. It is good to be able to stop and slow down to realize...while it may not seem like it at the time, but all the little things you do for and teach your children really do matter in the end.

When this week's challenge at Noel Mignon appeared based on this video, I knew I had to put it to use.

I've had this large print for a while thinking that I would trim it and use it on a scrapbook page. It was a free 11x14 from Walgeens. Since the print took up most of the page and I didn't have a lot of room for journaling I made a little fold out book on top of the layout. I kept the layout pretty simple since I wanted the picture to be the focal point. I pretty much took the words and thoughts from the video.

I had a very special mother's day this year. Jonathan and I picked out and bought our first mini van. Apparently if you have more than 1 child it is expected that you need one. I can't argue, because I have enjoyed driving it this week.

We Are the Baileys

It is no secret that I LOVE Noel Mignon's scrapbook kits and I especially gain so much inspiration from each of the challenges posted every 2 weeks. While I haven't done a ton of scrapbooking in the past several months due to selling a house..ie keeping clutter out of the picture, packing up a house, moving and unpacking into a new house; I have been able to sneak in time for many of these challenges. The most recent challenge involved telling the story behind your own name. I decided I wanted to do a page about myself and Jonathan, so that our children can look back and know our story together. Pulling out these comparable age pictures of the two of us reminds me that there are so many pages I would like/should do from our childhood.

I'm still going strong on pieces from my Nov "Mill Street Kit"

Here is another semi-recent challenge layout. I thought my mom and grandmother may enjoy seeing this one.
