So...maybe I figured it out
Today as Porter was going to school we saw his teacher in the hallway and we talked about how Porter has been behaving recently at school. I think we figured it out! The first day of school he came home and told me that he didn't eat the breakfast that they gave him at school. I told him that he needed to try it because I figured that he was probably hungry by 9:30 am. He always was hesitant to tell me that he didn't eat the breakfast because he didn't want me to get after him. (He's known for being picky and not eating all of his food). So the conclusion that we came to is that he didn't want to go to school because he was afraid of when breakfast time came around because he didn't want to eat it. Big fit for such a small deal. Anyway, his teacher told him that he didn't have to eat the breakfast and he did wonderful today! So, I guess we will see how he acts on Tuesday when we go back. I hope that our observation was right.

Pre-K update...not so good
So, now that Porter has gone to preschool for one week I have to tell ya that it's a struggle. Each day he goes it gets worse and worse when I drop him off. Today he told me that he hated school and that he didn't want to go, so the whole way to school he just kept saying, "I don't want to go to school!" So the past three days he has been throwing the HUGEST fit when I go to leave him in his classroom. He will cry and scream as if he were getting a beating. It's pretty ridiculous if you ask me! I have know idea what to do! His teacher says that the crying only lasts for a minute or two and then he is fine. Every day I pick him up he is in a good mood. I guess it's just in the morning when I go to drop him off. Bribes don't work, pep talks don't work. Any ideas?????? I think I will go crazy if this lasts any longer.

Porter's 1st day of Pre-K!
Today was Porter's first day of Preschool. I was worried about what he would do when I left him there because I'm with him constantly. He looked as if he was okay when we left, he even was tracing his name and didn't really notice. So I went for a run and then had to go back and pick him up after stopping at home for some things. He was really excited to see Peyton and I. I asked him how the day went and he said "We did criss cross!" I said "Criss cross applesauce?" He said, "Where you there? How did you know?" Moms know everything. He also said that they did the chicken dance, and tip toe. I asked him if he cried and he said that he did because I wasn't there. Maybe tomorrow he will do better. At least he is excited to return in the morning knowing that I will leave him there again.
He is excited to go to school
Look how big the smallest backpack we could find was. He will grow someday right?
My big boys!

Up, up and away!
Last Saturday we went to Offutt Air force Base to their free Air Show. It was really cool and the boys just loved all of the airplanes. We met Chelsea, Craig and Maddie Chambers there, so it was fun hanging out with them again! We saw big airplanes and small ones, helicopters and jets. They even had pretend explosions that went off to show what the bombers could do. Our favorite was the Hornet jet. It was super fast and loud, but it could slow down and be so quiet too.
Here we are taking the school bus from Bellevue West High School to the airforce base. Porter thought the bus ride was so much fun. Peyton wouldn't even look for a picture.
Here are the boys enjoying a view of one of the big airplanes. Notice that there are hardly ever any pictures of me? That is because I am always the one taking pictures :)
Porter was itching to spend his five dollars from Great Grandma Ballard and he begged for a toy airplane, so we finally let him buy it with his birthday money. He was much happier once he had that toy to play with. He flew it all over the place and even almost hit a few people with it. Oops.

Phelps Phan
Wow, we witnessed history tonight as we watched Michael Phelps win his 8th gold medal. No one has ever won that many gold medals in one Olympics. It is amazing to us how fast and smart he swims. We have so much enjoyed watching him and cheering for him this Olympics. We are Phans!

Lots of Olympics....Little Sleep
So, I just don't think that I will be able to catch up on my sleep until the Olympics are completely over. This midnight or 1 am business is getting to be very tiresome. Lynn and I have enjoyed watching the swimming and the gymnastics and were very excited last night for the individual results in the women's gymnastics. I have fallen asleep on the couch every night this week. Some nights I will wake up around 3:00 am and discover that the TV has been left on and all the lights in the house are still on. We love the Olympics, but we are ready for normal life to get back to order.

Fun at Grandpa and Grandma Gurney's House
Black Canyon Dam Tubbing
Sagehen Camping
Camping at Sagehen was awesome especially in the new 5th Wheel. Porter and Lynn had a lot of fun fishing. Shelly, Mom and I spent the day picking huckleberries. Peyton thought the fish were so cool and he loved being dirty. The pontoon boats were really cool. Lynn and I took a ride on one together, it was a little tricking since it's only supposed to be a one person boat. We had fun playing cards and roasting marshmallows. While we were up there Stephanie had her baby girl! Little Sarah Elizabeth Puterbaugh, she is so cute.
Seal Beach
The kids didn't last very long at the beach. Porter got sand in his eye and he was ready to go. Peyton enjoyed the sand and eating his very sandy cookie. Lynn stayed and boogie boarded for another couple hours. The only bad part about it was Lynn's 2nd degree sunburn. It was pretty sad looking, but he was a good sport.
Porter's Birthday Celebrations
We celebrated with the Belcher family on the 26th after Porter went with Lynn, Barry and Tanner to the Derby in Heber.
Grandma and Grandpa Belcher got him these Star Wars toys from Disneyland, He loves them!
On the 27th the Gurney's threw Porter a big birthday bash! A lot of the family was there and they even had Alicia bring her bounce house. Porter thought that his fishing pole and transformer were so cool. We had a lot of fun. Thankyou Grandma and Grandpa!

DISNEYLAND SPLASH PARTY 2008
I'll bet you didn't know that Disneyland had a water park ride. Either did I until Barry and I discovered the splash mountain wonder of wonders. I mentioned in the last post that I would update with more information regarding the "splash party." Well, here it is. After we had all returned to the hotel, got all the kids to bed, and made our attempt at finding a store; Barry and I noticed that we still had about an hour left of Disney fun available because it was only 11 PM and the park closed at 12. We knew that if we ran we could possibly make it on a couple of rides that we didn't make it on earlier on. We told our spouses our plan and they said sure; we then asked Matt if he wanted to come and he turned us down (this time). After that we grabbed our fastpasses and ran to Disneyland. Literally ran, we ran through crowds of people leaving the park. Most of the people just gave us weird looks as they saw two men running toward the park.
Our first stop was the Indiana Jones Ride. We made it through the line in about 5 minutes. The ride was great and we were out of there in about 15 minutes. We still wanted to ride on splash mountain before they closed; so we ran over to the mountain.
NO LINE!!! It was great. We ran through the standby line just in time to jump right into the front two seats in a log. We noticed that there were 4 other people already in the log that didn't get out when we got in. They informed us that they had already rode the right 4 times in a row with out getting out. A fact that we hadn't ever thought of before. If the lines are done but the park is still open you can ride over and over until the park closes. It was on this log ride when Barry and I discovered an amazing phenomenon. If there are a couple of larger guys in the front that use there momentum (leaning forward) when passing over the falls of the drops, everyone in the first seats gets completely soaked. In fact Barry and I after the final drop of the ride were completely soaked, not one dray spot was found us. It was incredible. The family behind us on the log loved it, they too were pretty wet. We were so impressed. After the log returned to the loading area we all asked to keep going and they let us go again. Our goal was to improve our technique in hopes to increase our wetness; I'd have to say we did just that. It was amazing. After our second ride they told us we were done because it was after 12.
Barry and I shuffled all the way back to the hotel, leaving a trail of water from splash mountain behind us. It was really funny hearing and seeing everyone as we walked past them. I don't think anyone had every seen two people so wet leaving the park before. It was great. We got back to the hotels and snuck into our rooms and went to bed.
In the morning Erin was shocked to see my clothes hanging in the bathroom still dripping wet. She asked me if I got a spot on my pants and was trying to wash it out. It laughed and told her the story and she was impressed. Our plan for the following evening was to include all the family that was interested on the "Splash Party 2008." The only taker we had on the idea was Matt.
The next night it took a little more dedication to the cause. We had to take our families back to Grandma B's house because out hotel ran out. Once the kids were in bed at it was around 10PM the three of us headed out, following Barry's GPS, back to Disneyland.
Our goal was to ride the splash as many times as we could before it closed. For some reason there were a lot more people in line this night than the night before, but we stayed committed to the cause. Each time the line got shorter. By the time the night was done we had rode the ride 5 or 6 times. The first time we road Barry, Me, and Matt; in that order, with a log full of Asian people. By the end of the ride we were completely soaked, which was our goal, and the Asians had said all the English swear words they new about a thousand times. They too were soaked. While in line for the next log experience we scared 5 people out of the line just by ringing our clothes of the water while in line. They took one look at us and decided it was too late to get that wet. The next log was probably one of my favorites. I was in the front, Matt, then Barry. Behind him was a large fellow with his two daughter behind him. The big guy loved out idea and helped our cause. By the end of the ride everyone on the ride was completely soaked. The man was pretty impressed and said that he had never gotten so wet on this ride in his whole life. The ride was over and we raced back to the start of the ride. Once again we scared a family out of the line just from our appearance. We road as many times as we could before the park closed. It was night never to forget. On the walk back to the car Barry broke a sandal strap. He looked so funny trying to walk our to the park sliding his sandal under his foot and occasionally stumbling. I know people were staring, but it was fun to have them stare.
