Pictures from Sky

Skyler and his good friend Peter Burton .

Skyler with his mission companions.

Sky said that this is a picture of him trying to escape ... he was caught though so he decided to stay a little longer.
Looks like he still has time to mess around and run up walls . . .

Skyler at the Provo Temple.

This is when Sky works in the call center talking to people interested in the church - he answers their questions and then sends missionaries to their house.

Week 3 at the MTC

Hola!

Okay, So I gotta be quick. Umm, so I wish I could tell you something really cool and exciting but every day is exactly the same here. Nothing really changes. Oh except a girl in my district got swine flu, so we all have to take medication, I hope I don’t get it, or I’ll be mad. She's the girl that is going to Iowa too.

So seriously I can't think of what to talk about. I'm slowly getting better at the language... but It's really really tough. It’s completely different from learning a musical or play script. There is way too much to learn and way too many rules. At times I really struggle with it so please pray that I will understand. It's taking a little longer than I would hope.

I'm really learning a lot when it comes to the gospel though. And my testimony grows so much every day. OH, We did this really cool thing here, it’s called the RC or the referral center. On momon.org People can chat with live missionaries to learn more about the gospel, and once or twice a week I am one of those missionaries. We chat with them and answer their questions about the gospel. Sometimes we even get on the phone with them. They make requests for free books of Mormon and Bibles or dvds and we complete the orders. I called a 72 year old man from Texas who wanted the Bible and I also got him to accept a book of Mormon. We can refer missionaries to these people too in their area which is really cool.

That was probably the most exciting thing that has happened this week. Every day is seriously the same! It is wayyy tooo much of a repetition. I can't wait to get out to the field. I just wish I knew the language. Please pray that I will get it down. It really just comes with time too, so maybe one of these days I'll just get it.

Keep writing. Actually you guys should each get be assigned a day so I get a letter everyday! cuz that'd be awesome. And if you want to write me more than once a week then please do! I love you all a ton and I have to go! But we'll talk soon! Much love!

Daily Routine and Companions

Well, it’s been another week, so here is what Elder Holman is up to. We asked him what a usual day for him is like –

I wake up at 6:15 every morning and pray, and then in hopes of getting a warm shower… I book it to the bathroom. Every two to three seconds the shower temperature goes from lava hot to ice breaker cold... except for the handicap shower… SO I have to race all the elders to that one. It's pretty intense. Then I get ready for the day, then I go to class and have language study for an hour. Then it's Breakfast time for half an hour. I have delicious breakfast every morning... with results you can see! Just kidding... but I have gained 7 pounds since I got here... I’m gonna be a fatty when I get out, haha.

Okay so then I go back to class for like 3 hours and study a combination of preach my gospel and Spanish. Then its lunch. Then back to class for 4 hours, same stuff again, and then dinner. Then we go to gym. Oh, tell land that you get an hour of basketball practice here 6 days a week. He'll love it. I'm actually getting really good. Then we go home shower and go back to class for personal & companion study, and then language for an hour. Then we plan for half an hour and go home and write in journals, write letters, study, companion prayer, and then personal prayer... I usually say my prayers at 11:00. I'm staying up to late, but my prayers have been sooo long since I got here.

We also asked about his 2 companions (still have no idea why he has 2) -

One of my companions is from Kaysville, Utah (Elder Spencer Clegg), and the other from Northplat, Nebraska (Elder Michael Simpson). Elder Clegg is one of the coolest guys I know and I consider him one of my best friends already. He's like 6' 3", blonde and skinny, (I'll try and send some pictures soon). Elder Clegg has an amazing testimony and has pushed me to strengthen mine. I am so grateful for is friendship. He's musical too so there is a lot we can relate. Elder Simpson is the joy of our companionship. He's slightly shorter than me with dark hair. He has amazing teaching and testifying abilities but generally falls asleep during class. The best part is he talks in his sleep... It's HILARIOUS. But all around I consider him one of my best friends as well… They are both going to Long Beach Cali Spanish speaking. I wish they were coming with me though cuz they are so awesome... I couldn’t have asked for better companions, like, not even kidding. They are great guys.

Sky was especially excited to find out that iPods are allowed on the mission as long as they are full of church and classical music, and you listen to them through speaker. One more electronic to keep him happy besides his camera. Pretty soon he’ll be writing to tell us that he is allowed to have his car too. ;)

Sky loves to hear from all of you, so please keep the letters coming in!
