Whoopie Pies

Here recently I learned from other sources that EJ loves whoopie pies. So I go looking in the family cookbook, AND IT'S NOT THERE! From what I understand this is a family delicacy. Now, EJ has never mentioned how much he loves whoopie pies. I knew he loved Amish Noodles which I can now actually get at Kroger. Lucky me! Thankfully my Mother-In-Law quickly sends me this recipe. As I'm reading this recipe it calls for sour milk. My non-cook brain is like nasty! Why would anyone add a bad ingredient? I guess it will turn out okay? EJ has been eating this stuff his whole life practically. Hmmm, maybe that's what's wrong with him? Right now the plan is to practice this dish and take it to work. If the co-workers get sick then it's back to the drawing board. Marie and Cody already won't try any new dish I come up with. I'll have to bribe my foster kids or the neighbor hood boys. Boys are supposed to eat everything. Right? Hopefully, this Southern Gal who learned to cook with bacon grease won't mess this up too bad.

Marie's first Date

Tuesday night Marie went on her first car date. Myles took her to Outback Steakhouse and then they went to the movies. She was home shortly after 9pm. They came in laughing about their waitress and the funny movie. I had already told Myles the rules about no kissing on the first date. They called from the restaurant asking if they could use our car. I was wondering what was wrong with his car. It turns out that back in the spring Myles was involved in a serious car accident that thankfully wasn't his fault. I mean he was driving our car with my daughter as a passenger. He had picked Marie up right after physical therapy. His car is a 5 speed and he couldn't press and hold the clutch without stalling his car. So I met them at the restaurant and swapped cars so Marie could continue her date. She's growing up and doesn't need her Mom as much anymore.

Marie

Marie got her drivers license recently so everyone needs to stay out of the ditches. She didn't make an appointment so we had to wait. I started out the morning with her and EJ finished up while I was at the dentist. When I walked in she said she failed. EJ was packing to head back to Iraq and she came in saying Hahaha, I got it, fooled ya. She was begging for money to go get some fast food. EJ wouldn't let her drive home from the testing center. I thought that was funny. She was just dying to get behind that wheel and take off alone. We took off for Atlanta and let her stay with one of our friends with strict instructions for use of the van. Monday, when I was leaving work I noticed there is a rather large scrap on the van's bumper. She claims that someone did that while she was parked at work. Hmmm. Not sure I really believe that. But she's been driving herself to seminary in the mornings and it's coming in handy when I need her to run errands. Currently Marie is home schooled and should finish around Christmas 2008 and start college at APSU in January 2009.

First

A friend sent this link to me today and also my Mother-in-Law. I've thought about doing this for some time now but just haven't gotten around to it. Since I received this twice today guess that's a sign I need to get on with it. This will be really easy to keep family and friends updated on the latest things happening in our family.
