every light in the house is on.....

Last night, I went to bed after I put Mack Mack to bed. It was 9:30. Mack Mack stay up late because his most favorite, can't go to sleep without it blanket was in the dryer. I had put Mack Mack's whole bed into the washer, after his nap and forgot about it.

That was until bedtime!!

He got to stay up until it was dry and "uffy"--- that's Fluffy in Mack Mack language.

like I said I went to bed. I must have zonked right out too.

Jason said this morning. It's a good thing robbers didn't come, last night.

Why?

He had left the front and back door unlocked, lights on, the computers still on and not powered off, every light downstairs was on, phones not on chargers. And he was asleep sitting up on the couch, with his hand still on the remote.

He came to bed at 4 this morning, freezing cold with a hurting hand.

Maybe I should give him a list before I go to bed next time.

traffic signs

On Sunday, in primary, they talk about the different traffic signs and how they help us in our lives. The teacher then compare it to the Gospel. There are times in our lives when we STOP and learn. Then there are times when we SLOW DOWN. And still other times when we GO!!

Justice got to hold the GO sign for the teacher. He never gets picked and he is super super shy in primary... I know my kid?!

Anyways since Sunday, he has been making these signs. He made himself a set and Mack Mack too.

Thank you to the teacher who impress his young life.

another one bits the dust

This morning I did a quick trip to Wal-Mart. Not my most favorite store, but it does OK for quick trips.
This was a planned trip too. I say planned. I had a list and coupons in hand.
I was buying some special treats for a sister in law and niece who are on a strict diet. They both have Celiac Disease and I was also send some conference packets for her kids, too.
On the coupon list was:
fruit snack ( don't judge me)
Chex cereal

And the not so coupon list was a few other things too.

Fast forward to checking out. I do cashier profile too. I went to a lady that knows me, but what she doesn't know is that I coupon shop. She starts to sort out my coupons, as if all of them were expired. They were not.
I ask her, What's up?
She says, Well We can't take the copied ones..
I say, there not copies, just black and white.
She says well we can only take colored one.
She then proceeds to call over the manager. Yet another lady I know.
The manager said ' only this time and only if they scan.

Guess what. all of the coupons scan... DUH!!

I pay only $1 per box of Chex and I got 6 boxes.
As for the fruit snacks, they were all a $1.15 per box.

I was a little steam on the way home.

DON'T accuse me of COUPON FRAUD.
YES its a thing and YES it's punishable by the law.
DON"'T refuse my coupons just cause I am cheap and print them black and white on the fast print.

So I looked up Wal-Mart's coupon policy. YES they have one. It says nothing about colored VS black and white coupons.

I was thinking that if Wal-Mart refused my coupons, I wasn't going to pay full price:; on the other hand I was going to leave everything on the belt and walk out.

Why is it when you are saving money with coupons, you get dirty looks?
Why is is when you pay with a food stamp card, you don't?

I won't be coupon shopping at Wal-Mart anymore.

It had smoke stacks &
5th wheel

did I say, it came with a trailer?

the back view

then the giant came

 and killed it

It was a record for our house this year... We only did 1 pinewood derby. But we just didn't use only one kit.....many many was the count.
It is sad to say that next pinewood derby will be our family's last one for a while.... like 4 years.
Jace got 3rd in the pack this year.

and yes that is the color of my kitchen walls.

What's in the mystery can?

What's in this can?
It has NO label, no black sharpie
writing to tell me what it is.
It does have many many many
many many many years of pinewood
derby paint on it.

See that dent!!!

Just by the sound that is can was making. I thought it could be
 dehydrated refried beans or rice.

Good thing I guess right!!

I found this can out in the back yard a few months ago. I took it back into the garage with the other cans/food storage. i had my hopes up high for what it could be.
It even saved me money too. I don't have to buy beans for nachos for the pinewood derby lunch.

Wyatt drilling pilot holes for the legs

Jason brought home these two yellow metal barrels from work. Actually I am using them for a gardening project..... YAY!! Potatoes!! Painless Potatoes for more info.

It took some muscle

I used the lids for some cute little tables for the backyard. I also found some 2X4's in the scrap wood pile for legs. Don't tell Jason, but we used his saw too.

ugly yellow has to GO!!

Thank goodness for
leftover spray paint

more RED paint to cover the yellow

After 4 cans of paint
and 6 cans of sealer
BINGO WE are DONE!!

I think I will give one of these to Tucker for a bedside table for his room. Kinda of an industrial look, just perfect for a teenage BOY!

Just a side note: I send off 4 pounds (YES 4 pounds of expired coupons) to the troops! The overseas US bases can use coupons up to 6 months pass the expired date. More here KCL troops
I also send off my sister's baby blanket, too.

Spring Break 2011 in Review

On Monday of Spring Break, the neighbors found the Bushman boys cleaning up their mother's front yard. They filled up two black trash cans and 8 black trash bags.
They also trimmed back the oleanders and re-seed the front yard, planted more spring/summer flowers, and spread out 12 bags of cow manure.
YUP we have the essence of cow crap!!

The oldest brother showed the littlest brother how to use the leaf blower

On the second day of Spring Break, It was PIE DAY!!
Tucker informed his mother that she need to make a PIE for PIE DAY.
you see the date was 3/14. And the equation for pi is 3.14 .
who says he doesn't pay attention in math?!

and we juiced all of the oranges that Grandma Ray sent to us.
The count is 12, it would have been 16,
but all of the boys enjoy drinking FRESH OJ  from a mason jar!
We also juices 3 pounds of lemons too.

We also started on and finished
 Grandma and Grandpa Bushman's
 Christmas Quilt.
Yup in MARCH, but later than never!

Grandpa Bushman LOVES LOVES International Farmall Tractors especially H, so this was fitting.

It says :"What happens on my Tractor stays on my Tractor".

On the third day of Spring break, We took the old baseboards from the kitchen to the  Habitat for Humanity RE-Store. and Justice got new lenses for his glasses.

On the fourth day of Spring Break, It was St. Patrick's Day.
So for Breakfast We had green pancakes.

Then later, for dessert we had chocolate scotcheroos.

Justice showed me how to do a Butterfly jump on the trap!

Mack Mack drank from the dog's water bucket..... Don't worry, it was clean water

On the 5th day of Spring Break, we hit the stores for a little shopping.
Yup I took them all. Not one was left behind.

I took the boys summer shoe shopping. Nothing fancy, here. Just flip flops.
Oh I do have to tell you about  a smokin deal Tucker got.
For years now, he has wanted a Christmas tie, I have brush him off many times, becuase I don't want to pay $35 bucks for  one tie ( cheap I know)
Anyways, He found a Christmas tie for $5, I said what the heck!  but I did comment that it just might be even lower than that price.
The tie rang up for $1 -- not too bad for a $40.00 Christmas tie in MARCH!!

We went food shopping too.
I have a love/hate relationship with Albertson's. It more a hate/love relationship. I hate that their limits on sales are soo low and they don't like when you have a bunch of coupons either.

Here is the receipts of our shopping adventures:
Smiths -- in two transactions. Just because I had more help.
What we got:
20 bottles of powerade
20 bags of Quaker rice cakes
20 packages of cheese
2 case of water
20 packages of bar soap
20 packages of Pasta Roni
20 boxes of Capri Sun
20 bottles of Shampoo & Conditioner
2 packages of diapers
4 deodorant
4 boxes of Quaker Hot Oatmeal
8 boxes of cold cereal
2 bottles of Miracle Whip
we cant forget about 4 gallons of milk for FREE!!

 one transaction I paid $115.11 but I saved $116.81 for a 50% savings!!
the other transaction was $109.26 for a saving of $113.66 for another 50% savings!!

On to my love/hate relationship with Albertson's

78 cans of frozen juice
4 frozen pizza
in four transactions we spent $75.42 but we saved $99.96 for a 132% savings.

And I made this WAYYY cute blanket for my sister. She is due #2 in late May.
