Jace's Father's day talk

My dad and I are good buddies. We like the same things, and we like to do them together. Dad is good at just about everything, but what he’s best at is being my dad!

He drives a big rig. I like to climb into the cab and pretend I’m the driver. Dad always blows the horn for me. He says he likes his job because he enjoys being outdoors. I like the outdoors too. When I grow up, I think I’ll be a truck driver like Dad.

My dad is good with his hands. He likes to fix things. He does a good job. I like to help him out. Sometimes I just hand him his tools, and sometimes I get to tighten things myself. He tells me the names of all the different parts of the car. He says I’m a fast learner!

Dad is teaching me how to build things. Dad made new cupboards for Great Grandma’s kitchen. Great Grandma was very happy. Now he’s helping me make a birdhouse. He tells me stories about Jesus while we make things. Jesus was a carpenter too.

My dad holds the priesthood, and when someone is sick, he can give that person a blessing. And once when I was nervous about going to school, he gave me a father’s blessing. I felt better.

I love my dad very much, and I know that he loves me. My favorite times are the ones that we spend together. When I need him, all I have to do is call him. He’s a great pal and a great teacher and a great dad!

In the name of Jesus Christ Amen

Our visit to the train...

We went to visit the Christmas Carol train. Our wait wasn't that long, about 30 minutes or so. Jace was the official picture taker... so pictures were very interesting, to say the least. We also ran into some ward members, too. (The Makaafi's and Christensen's)

The boys had never seen a parking meter, so they took a picture of it.

We had to get to the blue tent to enter the train.

We had a cool ticket for the train. The Disney people even hole punched it with a Mickey head punch... just like Disney World! The boys thought it was cool.

There was even Christmas Carolers, too.

Inside the train, each train car showed or talked about the Disney Movie magic. These are random shots of what Jace thought was important. There were many things from the Charles Dickens Museum in London. I didn't know there was a such thing.

After we went through the 4 train cars about the movie and morphed ourselves into character of the movie, there was a 15 minute 3-D preview. This was a first for everyone! Talking with Cat, she had never been to a 3-D movie, either. The boys LOVE it!

Here's all of us in our 3-D glasses. Justice called them 'his special glasses'

Wyatt figured out that this movie comes out near his birthday, so guess what he wants to do.....GO see the movie!

Not too bad for a morning outing with the boys, that just cost $2.50 for parking!

The Disney Christmas Carol Train

Awards

For the years of service to the cub scouts, I am going to put the papers in for a cub scout leader award. I have completed all of the requirements, even gone to the monthly round tables. I am mighty proud of myself. I can also get a religious square knot for my Young Womenhood Recognition Award, I got many moons ago.

I think I will also fill out some award papers for Jason too. I think he can get 4 or so with all of the different 'hats' in scouting he holds.

I have been thinking about filling out the paper work for this one too. The BSA family Award.

my feet's best freind

Do you wonder about all of those info-mericails? and if the product really works?

I tested one myself. They are only $10 at Wal-Mart

the pedi-egg really works!!

Along with this lotion I have some pretty soft feet without ugly dry skin.

Tucker's Dream

Tucker has a dream.. when he turns 16 he gets a new car.. just like all of us thought we would, too. We have let him know that that will not happen and if it does happen that he has a car he would (1) share it with his brothers and (2) haul his brothers around and (3) it would be an old junker like Jason's old car. Needless to say, he isn't happy about all of this.

So this morning, his dream was crushed even more.......
when I drop him off at basketball.

He saw one of the Varsity Basketball players being dropped off by his mom! Oh heavens! not parents in high school!

I said to Tucker, 'See, he doesn't have his own car and his mom still drops him off'

Basketball

Basketball started today. The boys had fun... only Jace said he didn't have fun -- he never says he had fun.

Tucker said he got to play with some kids his own size. They,( the HS coaches and players) split everyone up into age groups. Tucker was in the 11-12 year old group, but later he was moved up into the 13 and older group because of his size. -- He was happy.

Wyatt was happy because he didn't have to play with Jace. He got to met new people.

Jace was Jace and still had fun. He was tried when he came home, so I know he had fun.

I finally saw what Jason talked about... He always said that when he play basketball, he was that player without the fancy shoes and basketball shorts. But he was there just to play.
Well, I saw that, too. There was my boys in the middle of all of those fancy shoes and basketball short, They were just in their "on sale" shoes and jean shorts, Just to PLAY.

There was also those parents who were 'coaching' their kids from the sidelines and they were also talking to others, on how little Jimmy needed to get a scholarship to play basketball in college.

But my boys were just luckily to be there, too. If it wasn't for the APS mileage check I get, the boys wouldn't be able to play at all.

I did stink to the store while they were at basketball and found some clearance basketball shorts for Tucker and Wyatt.... Jace already had some, just need some mending.

food for thought....

have been thinking about this whole swine flu global pandemic...

The boys have gotten letters from APS about good hand washing and hygiene practices at school. I have even seen the stock pile of hand sanitizer at school, also the red bio-hazard bags, too.

Go with me for a few..... and sorry if it is a little random

Here it goes:

A few years ago We had the BIG deal over The bird flu... remember all of the Chinese Chickens. And the US BAND all foreign chicken. And the bird flu went away.

And Now We have the swine flu!!

Here's where I get a little church-y on ya

The Scriptures tell us that :

" A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them. " Ezekeil 5:12

Scary HuH?

How about this one....

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows." Matthew 24 7-8

even more scarier than the last

We are seeing this NOW! Are we prepared?!

Here is yet another scripture for Ya!

1 Nephi 22: 17 & 22

Wherefore, he will preserve the righteous by his power, even if it so be that the fulness of his wrath must come, and the righteous be preserved, even unto the destruction of their enemies by fire. Wherefore, the righteous need not fear; for thus saith the prophet, they shall be saved, even if it so be as by fire.

And the righteous need not fear, for they are those who shall not be confounded. But it is the kingdom of the devil, which shall be built up among the children of men, which kingdom is established among them which are in the flesh—

I highlighted the parts I just LOVE! It gives me hope in this time of darkness of the world.

This is the part where I am going to be a little truthfully:

In our house we strive to teach the boys all that we can about the church and gospel topics. Some days, I think we are failing and others not so much. I feel like we are doing the best we can and that is what the Lord would want us to do. You know "Do not run faster ....you have strength ....... but be diligent unto the end." D&C 10:4

We have struggle with a few things in the past and in the present. But we are striving to keep the commandments and follow the prophet. We have some food storage. No, it's not from the Bishops' storehouse. Truthfully, I have only been to the Bishops' storehouse only once, since we have moved here. I like to shop the sales and get extra. Sister Garrett can attest to our 6 month supply of Ketchup.
