My princess and Knight

Emersyn and Ezra had a great day today playing. They actually have been playing really well the past couple days. It's pretty fun! Today, they played princess and knight. I got some cute pictures.

Celebrating 6 YEARS!

Tomorrow is our 6 year anniversary! Wahoo! Love my man! He is such a blessing to me! I could not have hand picked anyone more perfect.

Here are some of the things I love about him:
I love his heart, I love that he loves God and makes me want to be a better person, I love his work ethics, I love how true to his word he is, I love how he is always hands on with the kids, I love that he can do ANYTHING (really!), I love how he seems to be "quite" but is pretty witty, I love how thoughtful he is, I love how he is always available for me, our family, his family, my family, I love how hard he works around the house, I love how he teaches our children the value of work, I love that he will be outside all day playing with the kids, then can as easily come in and play dolls with Emersyn; I just plain LOVE THIS GUY!

So, every year, so far, we have done something for the house as our anniversary present to each other. This year, we decided that we wanted to put up new lighting in our kitchen. So, we did. We also got new curtains for the living room and framed out our other two windows. I will take pictures when that is complete.

I love you, Brent! I am so thankful for you and am so excited about Always and FOREVER with you!

(I need to find a picture of what the other light looked like. I didn't get a pic of the "before" before he took it down)

Elynn: 11 MONTHS

My baby girl is ONE MONTH AWAY from turning ONE! AAHH! Okay, I had to get that out! I just cannot wrap my mind around it. I mean, literally, 28 DAYS! Craziness! It went by so fast! I love that she is such a cuddle bug, because I hold on to her so tight, hoping she won't get any bigger. It is NOT working!

So, 11 months! She is cruzing furniture, but is not interested in walking as of yet. She has let go of things and just stood there, but that is about all. When she started to do that last month, I thought, "oh, she will probably walk early because I don't remember Ez or Em doing that." Well, so far, no. I have tried to hold her hands and see if she will walk with me, and she will pull her legs up and try and sit. I am not in too much of a hurry for her to walk, but it is nice when they do start walking and they aren't on the ground all the time. We shall see.

Other things she is doing or that has happened:
-we have TWO teeth! Ha. Her cousin, Joseph, and her friend, Holton, have full mouths of teeth.
-she can wave 'hi' and 'bye'
-she can blow kisses (super cute!)
-she can sign "more". She will also give a big head nod if she really wants it! Love it!
-she can say "uh oh" in a cute higher pitch voice. And, she LOVES to play the "uh oh" game, where she throws things down, looks for it and says "uh oh"
-she loves to crawl up the stairs and go into Emersyn's room to play with her dollhouse
-she eats anything and everything you have and that you will give her. She loves to eat! I think she is a social eater. Anytime anyone is eating, she thinks she needs to be eating too.
-she loves to dance. She will sit and clap to songs, she will get up and bounce up and down or sway side to side when a song is playing.
-she also loves to "sing" with you. If I start singing "twinkle star" or the "abc's" she will "sing" with me.
-she loves peek-a-boo
and her brother and sister!

I think that I am going to have to start weaning her when she turns one. It is getting to the point where if Ezra and Emersyn are in the room while she is nursing, she will get off to see what they are doing and then get back on, then off, then on, etc. And, lets face it, when are they NOT in the room with me?? It makes me sad, but I am so thankful that we have been able to do it for as long as we have.

I love this happy, happy girl, and am so excited to see what this new year is going to bring. She is a light in our life!

Christmas: Part 2

Sunday morning was so nice because it was just us and we got to enjoy the kids all to ourselves. It was so fun seeing the look on there faces as they came down and saw the presents there. Ezra really gets it this year. He was up and in our room by 7 and said, "can we go see if Santa came?" We made him wait for like 30 minutes before we woke up the girls and headed downstairs. It was so fun to see them! I want to soak up every moment of this!

The rest of the morning we just hung out and relaxed!

That afternoon we headed to Fredericksburg to be with Brent's family.  We had such a great time with them! This year, we decided not to do presents and just focus on Jesus and our family. Every year we have the Eilers cousins dress up for a nativity scene. This year Opa wanted to act out the Nativity. So, all of the cousins were assigned a part and we had a script. I didn't know how it was going to work at first, but it was super cute and all the kids did great. I have some video clips on my phone that hopefully I will be able to put together.  We also got some cute photos.

We also did something new this year. We all brought a gingerbread house and made a little gingerbread village with the kids. It was our first time to ever do a gingerbread house. It was so much fun and all the kids LOVED it! I hope we continue these two new traditions with our family.

Thank you, Eilers! Love you!!

Christmas: Part 1

I am copying my friend Allison and splitting up my blog posts.

The past two years we have had Christmas in Dallas, so this year, we hosted Christmas with my side of the family at our house. Well, technically, last year at this time, I was on hospital bed rest for a week, luckily was discharged right before Christmas to strict bed rest at home.

My sister and her husband came early on Thursday, which was a nice surprise. We had reservations at The Lodge restaurant at 615. I have always wanted to eat at The Lodge and recently found out that it is closing at the end of this year. I tease Brent that I have been trying to get him to take me there for the past 6 years. Ha! It may be true. So, he booked a reservation for us due to the fact that it is closing, and my sister and her husband were going to be here at that time, so they joined us. It was such a great night. The food was SO GOOD! The company was even better! We had another surprise during dinner. My mom ended up coming Thursday evening, also, instead of her original plan of Friday morning. So, she showed up just in time at The Lodge for a bite of dessert and a glass of wine! I have to confess, we had a girl we know, Lauren, who just graduated from ACU and is in town for a little while babysit the kids while we went to dinner. Here is the confession: I think this is the FIRST TIME we have had  a sitter come watch the kids and had to PAY since Ezra has been born! NO JOKE! My dad and his wife, or my grandma, will watch the kids here and there if we need them, but this is the first time we have gone to dinner and had to pay a babysitter! We need to work on that!! That is NOT okay! More date nights!!

Anyway, the rest of the family trickled in on Friday by mid-morning. My brother and his family, my grandmother and finally my mom's husband made it that evening. We had a great time of just enjoying each other. We made chicken tortilla soup with cornbread, artichoke dip and a veggie tray. It was so good. My mom's husband wasn't able to come until Friday evening because he wasn't able to get off work that day. So, after all day of asking, "can we open our presents yet??" from ezra, we were finally able to open our gifts after dinner. We had all the kids sit in their own little spot and let them open the presents first. They were truly blessed!!
Ezra got movies, an Aggie jersey, and Aggie pillow pet, his first Mac truck lego kit, games, books, clothes, pj's.
Emersyn got movies, clothes, furniture for her doll house, a zebra pillow pet, books, games.
Elynn got clothes, books, boots, toys.

My family has drawn names for each of us for the past several years. We usually draw the names at Thanksgiving, then are given a "wish" list from everyone. It is a fun way to do Christmas, and more practical! Ron, my mom's husband, had my name and I got my first pair of TOMS! I love them. Hunter, my sister's husband, had Brent. He got a new golf shirt and golf balls.

After trash was picked up, the plates cleaned, coffee made and dessert set out, we drew numbers to begin our annual "chinese christmas" game. I love it. It is so fun. We have this horrible singing wreath that has been passed from person to person for the past several years. My mom originally gave it to my grandfather, who then REGIFTED it in our chinese christmas game! Well, by Christmas, you always forget who has it, so it's like a made house trying to figure out who had it and who wrapped and brought what gifts..to try and NOT get the wreath! Well, one year, Brent decided to REGIFT some cologne he had gotten at our lifegroup gag gift exchange. It too, now, is in our annual chinese christmas and also forgotten by everyone. Makes for good times and much laughter. This year, the wreath was not present, my aunt got it last year when they were here for chirstmas (they live in cali), so we are hoping it will not appear again. She is pretty clever though! The cologne was present and my bil got it! Super funny. I actually made out like a bandit! Good times!

After chinese christmas, we put the kids and parents to bed and us "kids" played catch phrase. It was so fun! Not sure why the boys always win! Next year!!

Saturday morning was breakfast and packing up. Everyone headed their separate ways around 11. It was such a great time.

After everyone was gone, I "cleaned" the house and put the new toys where they needed to go while the kids napped. I had about 45 minutes to lay on the couch before we had to start getting ready for church. We headed to church for the 4'o clock service. It was a great service.

After church, we headed to my dad and his wife's house for christmas and dinner. They live in Boerne, so it wasn't a bad trip. We had a good time celebrating with them. We had a nice dinner then opened presents. Ezra got ANOTHER Aggie pillow pet and a bag full of goodies. He was super pumped! Emersyn got some dress-up stuff and a pop-up princess castle. Elynn got a new outfit and books. We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus, ate cake and headed home.

It was  a great couple of days!
