crazy about cables

Storm Dennis swept in this weekend and forced me to stay indoors all weekend. Not that I had any plans so it was lovely to spend most of the weekend knitting and I managed to knit one hat, amazing for me. I'm super chilled out today, its great what knitting can do for the mind and body. a stack of cable hats I think it was the Winters Rainbow had dye yarn by  SewHappyCreative  that helped me to knit the long brim in double quick time. Having a rainbow on your knitting needles is perfect in stormy weather. Teamed with another gorgeous medium husky pom pom from  CraftyFriendsUK  that's another design I'm going to knit again and again. Perfect for using that small amount of hand dye yarn with some Aran from your stash. my latest rainbow edition I used approx 50g of hand dye Winters Rainbow with approx 70g of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in Ecru (code 3001010).  my new yarn bowl I changed the pattern slightly on the last row opting for a...

another granny square blanket

Isn't it  the best crochet therapy ever? I really do love the simple granny square, a timeless classic. I never get bored with making these and its very satisfying to sit back and look at a neat stack. A couple of weeks back it was full on granny square production line. Here are some of the photos I took. Currently have 36 joined and another 60+ to make. Its a great project for adding to as and when you feel like it. I like that kind of no pressure kind of project. classic granny squares I pick it up and instantly smile and the happy colours. I have a few baskets full of Debbie Bliss Rialto DK plus a whole box under my bed full of new yarn (oops!) Its going to be big, perfect for snuggling up on the sofa. Full of merino yarn which is so soft and machine washable (added bonus). Just need to decide on a nice wide border. I'll  be picking this up over the weekend and playing with colours. My preferred joining method is join-as-you-go because I love the vintage ...

merino baby blanket

Sorry if I've been a bit quiet, lots going on and I took a week off work last week  for the weather and to just be at home knitting, gardening, crochet. Perfect week really. So here is a little gorgeous blanket I managed to finish despite the heat. More photos over on my Instagram account  I made this out of the lovely Debbie Bliss Rialto DK Heathers range a 100% merino woll 105m/114 yards per 50g ball with 4mm crochet hook. I chose colour 92 Denim (now discontinued) for the main blanket then edged it with one row of Sky, one row of cream and the last 2 rows in the Heathers range colour 23090 Honey for the picot edging. Its so springy and a lovely size for a growing baby, more second size than new born I think. This one has been made for an old friend of mine who's first baby is due in September. I'm guessing its a boy. Its machine washable at 30 deg and is classed as a DK weight yarn that has lots of spring and fantastic stitch definition. Its simple but luxur...

Granny Tee (Indigo Blue)

Indigo Blue : this happened last night, I finally dived into my Scheepjes Skies mini skien box (heavy) and I'm in love with this yarn! I was sitting watching a film when I had the sudden urge to crochet another Granny Tee by Sarah (aka annaboos house) The mini skeins are perfect and I've just ordered another box for the back plus a larger skein for the sleeves and joining. It has amazing drape and the colours are a subtle shift of indigo that is going to look fabulous over a white t shirt with jeans and flip flops. Perfect partnership. You can watch my progress over on my Instagram account. Indigo Blue I buy my yarn from Lusciously Loopy because the service is first class and I like to support independent businesses. Lynn stocks the Scheepjes Skies mini skein packs and the full size 100g skeins and shes super helpful when it comes to helping customers in the UK and Worldwide. Ball weight:28 gram, Length:47 meter, Gauge:18 stitches, 16 rows to 10 ...

Rectangular granny blanket

Is it oblong or rectangular? Not sure but people have told me its rectangular. Whatever you want to call it I'm loving these colours on my April Showers blanket and I'm writing the pattern notes as I go along so hopefully I can release the pattern over the Easter holiday weekend. Here is a little progress from this weekend. My gorgeous project bag is gaining a lot of attention over on the Stylecraft Instagram account, they kindly re-posted my photo. Link for the Amazon page is on my Instagram account here   more colours added Cornish Blue

more granny squares

More solid granny squares, yes its true I am addicted and I definitively have a yarn crush on the Scheepjes Stonewashed. Just look at those Cath Kidston style colours I'm working on right now. I am making 100 out of my mini box, so many colours and so much fun. Each one is being joined with a cream border (moon stone, I bought a few 50g balls to do this from Lusciously Loopy Yarn) and I plan to join them with a dc raised seam on the front for a vintage feel. I haven't decided on a border as yet, something wide, simple and with a vintage. This is my first project with the solid granny square pattern and I hope to make another as a wedding gift for later this year. You can follow my progress on my Instagram account. I'm using the brilliant easy to follow pattern by Lucy at Attic 24 and a 3.5mm crochet hook. Have you tried these yet, you really must. more solid granny squares

crochet granny square tee (top) revisited

Well since you last heard from me I've been mega busy finishing (and starting new projects) managed to have another quick break in Norfolk and yes, you guessed it made another granny tee ! I think its fair to say that I am now addicted to this pattern!! I just love it, the best bit is turning the circle into a square and depending on which yarn you use, the stitch definition is wonderful. So here is the denim blue version I made for my weekend in Norfolk but I didn't get round to wearing it as we had lovely weather. This version uses three 142g balls of Lion Brand Heartland but you won't use all of the third. Why not experiment with other yarn like I did, it's great fun. Go raid your yarn stash! my second granny tee in Lion Brand Heartland Glacier Bay And I've started two more both in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran- I have six balls in the rusty rose colour so this will be a kids version for my Etsy shop. The purple version I bought 9 x50g balls of the sa...
