Hair Care Tips

Hair managing guide from http://sarah-tennant.suite101.com/tips-for-tangled-hair-a55309

Avoiding Tangled Hair

Dryness, split ends and friction all contribute to knotty hair. Keep your hair well-moisturised to give it some 'slip'. Snip out split ends as you see them—split hairs are damaged hairs, and the roughness and increased volume of splits can easily create tangles. Make sure you are using gentle hair care techniques to keep your hair free of damage.

To avoid friction, try sleeping on a satin pillowcase at night. Cotton pillowcases have fibres which rub against the hair, while satin allows the hair to slip freely about. Slipping a satin petticoat or nightie over your pillow is a cheaper option—the difference will be obvious when you comb your hair the next day. Never leave barrettes or clips in your hair overnight, or they may be 'eaten' by your hair and be difficult to remove.

Tangles also frequently occur while washing hair. Never pile your hair atop your head and scrub. Instead, detangle it before hopping in the shower, and shampoo your scalp only. The length of your hair is rarely dirty enough to require scrubbing, and will be sufficiently cleaned by the shampoo as you rinse it out. Next, comb the conditioner through your hair with a wide-toothed comb, and continue combing as you rinse out. This way your hair should not require further detangling before it dries. Don't rub at it with a towel—let your hair dry naturally, loose or wrapped in a turbie towel.

Keep Your Hair Tied Up

The looser your hair is, the more chance it has to become tangled and damaged by rubbing against your clothes, getting caught under handbag straps and blown about in the wind. Braids are a perfect way to keep hair from tangling. Practice braiding your hair at night until you get the hang of it—'sleep braids' don't have to be perfect, and are a wonderful way to protect hair from tangles while you toss and turn. Once you've mastered the techniques, braids can be worn in endless combinations and styles during the day.

Buns are another excellent way to protect hair from tangles. Using the sock bun method, even fairly short hair can be kept out of harm's way.

Removing Knots From Hair

Bobble-tipped brushes are damaging to hair, and useless for removing knots. To detangle hair, use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb and begin with the bottom few inches of hair, gradually working your way up. Always start at the bottom of a knot and tease it out downwards, rather than pulling it wide apart. Once detangled, use a boar bristle brush to polish and protect your hair.

Some people find damp hair easier to detangle. Use a spray bottle of professional detangling product, or a mixture of water, jojoba oil and aloe vera. For really stubborn knots, saturate the hair in conditioner for a few minutes before attempting to remove the knot.

The story of apples

So many things happening in my life everyday but its not easy for me to find the right time and right mind to share it here. That explains the infrequent posts, if someone even cares =P

Recently, so many people have been sharing humorous pictures and jokes on Facebook. They are certainly entertaining for people like me, who go on Facebook almost every minute. Its not like i like Facebook that much, but I am too lazy to play games or to do something else when i just wanna take a short break from the boring assignments. And yes, i have poor concentration. I need a short break every minute.

Although some jokes shared are real lame, some are really meaningful that it makes my day. A joke that i feel like sharing is about apples. It says there that there are 3 apples that have changed the world.

The first apple was eaten by the Adam and Even and this apple has turned the world sinful. Though the forbidden fruit in the Book of Genesis is not identified, popular Christian tradition holds that a serpent coaxed Adam and Eve to eat an apple from the forbidden tree in the Eden (Wikipedia)

The second apple falls on Newton's head from a tree and led him to the discovery of the law of gravity. It benefits the world by explaining the wonders of nature scientifically.

The third apple was brought by Steve Jobs and has brought the world to another era of technology.

The conclusion is: An apple a day, not only keeps the doctor away, but may overturn a decade and make my day.

Is it wrong?

Is it wrong for a girl to want to be pampered in a relationship? Is it wrong to be delicate when a girl is with someone that she can trust , although she has to be tough everywhere else? Is it so hard for a guy to spend a little more time to show his concern when a girl is in sorrow? Is it so hard just to stay when a guy is needed?

Isn't it cruel for a guy to say that there are much more important things then comforting a sad girl? If a little more time cant be spent, if a little more effort cant be contributed into a relationship, whats the difference of a normal friendship and a special relationship?

If someone understands, he or she will not just walk away. Leaving a broken hearted person alone is cruel. Although a wound will heal when time passes, the scar will always be there and will take much longer time to be forgotten.

Everyone is different

I dislike judgmental statement

If u haven't known a person well, just because u heard something bad about him/her, u conclude that : I knew it!! From the beginning i have sensed that the he/she is that mean, are u sure u are qualified to say so?

I dislike criticism about appearance

I know most of the time criticisms are made playfully and aren't serious, but still..u wont know who may get offended and who may not..Appearance is something that people cant change. Although i admit that people with defects should accept it and should not be oversensitive..still..people could have been considerate enough not to mention any defect in appearance without valid reason

I dislike the "kiasu" culture

When i was a kid my mum advised me not to show that im hardworking even if i am, why
so? Isn't hardworking something to be proud of? Hardwork has been devalued by the "kiasu" culture. When someone is working hard but you are not, you would feel guilty and emotionally imbalance. Therefore to ease the guilt and emotional imbalance, u would express ur "shock" that that the person is working hard when u are having fun. U would say something like" OMG!! Why are u so hardworking!!!" or " Its Weekend!! Why are u studying!!" or " OMG!! U are staying in the library? So hardworking!!"..these seemingly compliments would actually made people feel that working is a wrong thing due to the "kiasu" teasing tone that comes with the statement

Due to this "kiasu" culture, hardworking has become something to be ashamed of rather than something to be encouraged. IF u work hard yet dont achieve too well, people would laugh at ur hardwork because it means that u are actually not bright enough..If u dont work hard yet achieve, people would admire u because u are bright enough and do not have to work hard

Therefore when A sees B studying, He will laugh at B for being hardworking and showing it because A knows how to study when people are not looking at him. Since when Studying has to be something secretive?

Come on!! Everyone needs to work. The only differences are the timing and methods. Some people like to study in the library and just relax at home. Some people work hard when people are having fun because they have been having fun when people were working hard. Some people just like to go back right after school and rest but work hard at night. Some people seem to be studying for a long time but in fact they take frequent breaks in between because they just cant focus for a long time. Some people study last minute because they have extraordinary concentration that enable them to learn everything in a short time.

In conclusion, everyone is different. Just because people have different timing and working methods, doesnt mean u have to feel "kiasu" and give useless comments about it. Just because people look or behave differently, doesnt mean you have to talk bad about it unless it is really unpleasant to u.

Not-so good story

A child said to his mum. "Mummy, I colored your sheets with lipstick!" In anger she started to hit him child until he was unconscious. Then, she regretted what she had done, and while crying she said to her child, "Please open your eyes!" But it was too late, his tiny heart had stopped beating. When she walked into her bedroom, the sheet said "I LOVE YOU MUMMY". Copy and paste this if you're against child abuse
This is something that people posted on FB

The world is overflooding with too much pain and suffering, we need something touching to remind us of humanity

The story above was not a good one, but we need a tiny bit of sth like this everyday

Eating

It seems that my blogging mood is back..yay!!

It has been 4 months before since i last got defeated by emotional eating/binge eating. Im so surprised realising that the huge unbeatable enemy doesnt seem to have a big impact in my life as before. I used to suffer mental and physical pain struggling to get rid of that eating habit. I cant believe now im eating like a normal person for every meal without too much need to control. Eating is an enjoyable thing in my life again!! For the past 6 years eating like a normal person was a luxury for me, im so glad that i can enjoy the luxury every day now.

Although the problem has not been solved completely from the root, it is a good progress for me. Not having an ideal weight is not a concern for me now, as just eating normally and happily is the greatest enjoyment in life.

Thanks to all my friends and family who have tried to helped me. A very big thanks to Hoangy who has made the "eating" dream come true.

The rolling "Ball"

If you wonder of how the feeling is to work everyday and have your mind occupied by something every moment, get up and organise an event!!

I am experiencing this in uni, being part of the Monash Inter-Campus Ball Committee. Tirelessly worked to seek for sponsorships, visited the bank every week for financial matters, emailed and called the Monash Administrative Staffs, draft the documents from scratch..Ball Ball Balll...the Ball is rolling big and hard in my mind and i cant get out of it..

Efforts are getting paid off when tickets are selling, facebook events are up, websites are ready..
Never regretted spending the time for this Ball, sweet time we had working together for one aim: to make the Monash Inter-Campus Ball a great success!!

Sing with you heart

Felt awkward posting a few blogs that didnt have much elements of emotion in them

Im born to be emotional..they said 90% of gals' body are made up of water..i think the remaining 10% in my body should be feelings..thats the only reason to justify my overflowing feelings from time to time and the frequent domination of overwhelming emotion

Commenting on politics seemed not to be my thing..writing law exam answers without feelings seemed not to be my thing too..i was just doing these because that's what people think i should do?

Crying over minor things seemed to be my thing, getting emotional regularly is making me look like me..but i try not to do these because that's what im not supposed to do?

However today im back to mysef..at least at this moment

I was introduced to the American Idol Contestant, Chris Medina, who didnt make himself to the top 24 but has created another teary history in the entertainment world...

'Chris, an aspiring singer, fell in love with the beautiful Juliana the first moment he saw her ...

and the two became engaged in the coffee shop she worked in...

They had planned to marry two years after getting engaged, but just two weeks before they could walk down the aisle, Juliana was involved in a tragic car accident and suffered brain damage...

On the exact day they were supposed to get married, Chris shared a song he wrote for his ladylove on Facebook.

“I’m giving all I’ve got to give/To Pull You through/To set you free/More than the vow/‘Through thick and thin’/I’m living it/In your darkest hour, I will be your light...”

Someone whom u loved that is willing to be with u and dedicate his life to you, no matter what happens..whats more can u ask in ur life?

Whats better than a connection between two hearts despite odds and distance?

However not everyone can endure the pain that comes along the way..many choose to give up..many are distracted by the more prominent attractions including wealth and status and left the true dedication buried unseen

There aren't many Chris Medina noticeable..that's y he has the power to let our tears down..There is in fact a Chris Medina in everyone's heart..that's y his love has let our tears down

Appreciate those who sing with their hearts

Malaysia Boleh

Just to share a forwarded email that i have got...

Dun intend to add my own opinions in...

SO many people that i know criticise politics..but i don't feel like commenting anything about politics in Malaysia...

Probably just too many people commenting that i dun feel like doing the same?

Probably commenting isn't going to make any changes unless we take real actions on it?

Im not sure what i can do about the politics in Malaysia yet..so i choose to keep quiet until the moment when im actually doing something about it?

Below is the forwarded email that i have got in my inbox:

What do I get for paying toll everyday?
Now I have to pay an extra RM50 for each credit card. For what?
Extra GST (goods and services tax). Again, how does that benefit me?

Look at the long list:

I have to pay for security guards because the police are hopeless.
I have to install filters because the water supply is dirty.
I have to watch satellite tv because the government broadcasts crap. I mean REAL CRAP !!

Many kids have to go for tuition or to private schools because the government schools are bad.
We have to pay IPPs (independent power providers) because the government cannot provide consistent electricity.

We have to pay Indah Water to clean up the sewers.
We have to pay tax on foreign cars because Mahathir wants to keep his dying local car industry alive. ON top of it APs cost bcoz of his cronies. Most have to drive because the government cannot provide good public transport.

We have to pay to sustain the government's affirmative action policies.
We have to pay for private health care because the public hospitals are crowded .

All in all, we have to pay a PREMIUM to stay in this country!

1Malaysia Boleh??? You decide.

But how is it that Opposition State Government in Penang can give her citizens free internet access within one year in Government, rice for the poor, while BN Government in power sinceIndependence cannot do it?..... but instead building more high rise building??? Think!!!

Subhas Anandan

I have been doing attachment in Chin Yeow Chong and Co for more than a month..its a small firm with only a lawyer, striking for quality not quantity..but that means there wont be too much for an attachment student to do..

On one usual seeking-for-things-to-read/do day, my boss passed me this book

The quote "Even the most heinous offender deserves a proper trial" attracted my attention

So this book is about the experience of a well known Singaporean Criminal Lawyer

My boss said i can read if i really have nothing to do..and can return it to him if i don't feel like reading it..at the moment..he might not read my adrenaline rushing excitement for having something interesting to read

Just few weeks ago..my fren told me that some criminal lawyers lead sleepless and threaten lives..

Moreover most people's impression of a criminal lawyer would be someone fighting for a murderer or a rapist; someone blamed by the family members of an accused who has to be sent to jail or to be executed; someone who either sides or offends the dangerous people in the society

All these comments and thoughts make me wonder..who is gonna be a criminal lawyer when the society has such a negative impression on them?

However Subhas's passion on criminal law could overcome all difficulties and prejudices

Although his young aged-son blamed him for having "bad" clients, Subhas insists that "Every accused is innocent before convicted" and "Even the most heinous offender deserves a proper trial"..

Its the right of every person, no matter whether he is guilty or not, to have a fair trial..not to say that many of the accused are actually innocent

I admire Subhas not only for his courage in dealing with criminals, but for his firm belief that every of his clients deserve his best effort to fight for them

Every criminal have their own stories..if there is sth in their stories that makes a punishment too harsh for them..Subhas would try his best to fight for a lesser sentence, for eg from a death sentence to life imprisonment

Of course it is hard to draw a line between a client's benefit and a total justice..at times..fighting the best outcome for clients makes their lives better..but sometimes it causes the repetition of offences..a lawyer is a human too..he/she doesn't have Godly eyes to determine what is the most just and appropriate thing to be done for the benefit of the world..he/she can only rely on his/her instinct and experience

The only thing a criminal lawyer can do is to try his/her best to fulfill his/her obligations and to constantly learn from mistakes

Credits to Subhas

for his deep involvement in criminal law despite his ill health..
for his willingness to fight for changes for a better society..
for his sharing of his stories for curious people like me..

If everybody condemns and looks down on criminal lawyers..who is gonna be one in this world?
Credits to Subhas for never giving up on being a criminal lawyer too!!
