week 70

I am pooped! Eric and I have gone non-stop all weekend. We decided to tackle the nursery project this weekend which meant moving my office out of the room, cleaning the room, finding another spot for the desk and all office related items, painting, and setting up nursery stuff. Like I say, pooped. I really thought it would take us half a day to do this. I mean, move a desk and paint a couple walls, not long right? I was totally wrong. We started Saturday morning and didn't finish until 9pm Sunday evening. We did stop to eat and run some errands (related to the project), sleep Saturday night of course, and hit church, but that was it. So here it is...

Office room before...

Nursery room after...

Room cleaned out and Eric vacuuming...

Shots of Eric painting the two blue stripes on the wall. I really thought I got a picture of both stripes before we put the furniture in but I guess I didn't. Dangit.

The other wall with bassinett...

And our new office space. The desk was an 'L' shape so we had to remove one side. Despite the small space, I think it turned out great. We went and purchased a nice file cabinet since it needs to be out where everyone can see it. The key now is to keep the office space clean and non-cluttered.

I feel like Eric and I have de-cluttered this loft so many times in 18 months. We did it again this weekend. While Eric painted the room, I cleaned out cupboards in the kitchen and drawers in the bathroom. It felt great to gain some room. Then I tackled the closet in what was the office. We have two bags of paperwork to be shredded, made haul after haul to the dumpster, and need to make a trip to Goodwill. But we are done (minus hanging pictures) and it feels so good.

Cause when you see this picture of me at 32 weeks, I really don't think I have 8 weeks left in me. Give me 4-5 and I'll be just fine.

weekend in SLC

Eric's friend Mark came to town for a guys weekend so I booked it on out of here and headed to SLC for the weekend. What a fabulous weekend! My dear friend Deana is turning fabulous 40 in a couple weeks and I knew I wouldn't be able to be there for her actual birthday so we celebrated early. And for Deana and me that means lots of sewing machine time. In fact Saturday we only left her house once to hit a quilt store and grab some quick lunch. What I didn't do is take my camera so I have limited crappy pics from my cell phone.

Deana cutting fabric...

We made these cupcake pot holders. Cute but a pain in the booty...

Our table of projects...

She taught me to crochet this cute scarf. Easy, fast and fun. Best kind of project.

I also made a few receiving blankets that turned out really cute. Have I said cute too many times?

Friday night 4 of us took her out for a bday dinner at a yummy Italian restaurant. And then a few more people came to her house after for cards. It was a really fun evening. Laurel was with us and we always love to see Laurel! We just wished she like to craft more. ;)

Oh and case you were wondering about Eric's weekend with his friend? Yeah, he won some amazing skis/bindings in a raffle at Breckenridge. I'm telling you, he is one LUCKY person! Its ridiculous.

Pregnancy update: Sleeping is getting more and more tricky. It hurts to move from one side to the other, baby is kicking like crazy as soon as I try to go to sleep and the heartburn wakes me up every single night. But I am not complaining. :)

Right place, right time

Eric and I are part of the Lower Downtown Denver neighborhood association and tonight was their annual meeting so of course we went. As part of the meeting, heavy appetizers are served. Well, the heavy appetizers were not so heavy this year and we both were starving when we left. We knew Ocean Prime - a very fancy steak and seafood restaurant- just opened up down the street so we decided to stop in for a few appetizers to finish filling our stomachs. Little did we know that tonight was their private grand opening and it wasn't open to the public. The restaurant host or owner or somebody was outside greeting people and letting them know the public grand opening is Thursday. We were bummed and apparently he could tell. This guy totally got us into an open table in the lounge area and we were told we would only have to pay for drinks. Seriously?! So much for appetizers only! Our bill came to $150 and we only paid $18 plus a nice tip. $18 for the most amazing filet mignon and lamb chops, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, crab cake appetizer, sourdough bread and yummy carrot cake for dessert. So, so good! We were definitely in the right place at the right time.

week 68

I can barely remember if we did anything this week. I do remember Eric traveling one night and me crawling into bed by 9pm and sleeping so soundly for oh so many hours. It was quite lovely.

Oh wait, it was Eric's 40th birthday this past week!!! We've been celebrating since January 4th but his actual bday was the 13th. He got lots of loves and well wishes from family, friends and co-workers. He had a full day of work stuff including a client dinner (boo) so we did dinner the next night. I think he thoroughly enjoyed his 40th bday and is excited for what his 40th year will bring.

We showed up at church today and this wonderful sweet lady had a gift for Eric for his bday. I've met and spoken with her a few times and in passing told her back in October that Eric would be 40 in January and he is a hockey fanatic. She gave him this really great hockey sweatshirt and adorable ABC hockey book for children. We were both blown away by her thoughtfulness...

I think I've mentioned before that I teach the 10 and 11 year old kids at church. Today, I also had the 8 and 9 year old kids. And I only had boys today. They were getting a bit restless so I decided to ask them all for suggestions for boy names for the baby. One kid raised his hand immediately and was so excited. I asked him for his suggestion... "farthead". Yep, that is what he said. I think my response was "interesting". What a funny bunch. They keep me very entertained each week.

week 67 post 3

After the shower, Eric and I headed over to see all the little nieces and nephews. But before I show you those pictures, look at my brother's dog Zeke. Is that not the largest dog you have ever seen?! Eric loves that dog. I'm glad we don't have a yard and don't have to worry about getting a dog right now :)

We went and saw Heather's little ones... Hallie and Zack...

Then we went and saw Lindsay's little ones... Tate, Macie and new baby Ty. Eric looks like a natural holding Ty ;)

We then quickly changed and headed to Glendale to meet up with my co-worker Jodi and her husband Michael and little guy Cooper to go to the hockey game. Jodi drove down from Las Vegas to come to my baby shower. So nice! We had a great time at the game and the Sabres won. Even better.

Sunday we spent most of the day hooking up a new computer for my Mom and Roger. Eric was a pro and got them into the 21st century complete with a Skype account so they will be able to see the baby when he comes!

It was a great weekend but boy am I exhausted!

week 67 post 2

Eric's family left Friday morning and Eric and I left Friday afternoon to Phoenix for the weekend. It was a fun-filled weekend of family baby shower and another Sabres hockey game. Thanks to my Mom and sister Anne for organizing and to my sister-in-law for offering her home and decorating. It was so great to see everyone! Here are some pics from the shower. I'm still waiting for my niece Katie to get me the rest :)

Lisa, me, Andrea (high school friends). So sweet of them to come!

Jerlyn, Jodi (cousins) and Heather, Katie (nieces)

Lindsay, Katie, Heather (nieces) and sister-in-law Cindy

Sister Anne and niece Macie

Mom and niece Lindsay amongst others around the kitchen island

Anne and daughter Grace

The pile of the cutest presents ever. We were wondering how we were ever going to get this home. But we did. We boxed everything into three boxes for check-in and then squeezed stuff in our carry-on luggage and got it all with us on the plane. I'm so glad we didn't have to ship anything. I don't like waiting for things :)

My Dad and brother Mark showed up toward the end to eat the goodies and say Hi to everyone.

It really was a perfect morning! I can't wait to hang up all the clothes and organize all the books! Thanks everyone!

week 67 post 1

We have had one busy week! Eric's family came to town to celebrate his 40th birthday. His actual birthday is Jan 13th but his beloved Buffalo Sabres were in town playing the Colorado Avalanche so we knew we had to celebrate a week early at the game. What a great time we had! We rented a suite for the game and invited friends as well as the family to celebrate with us. Here is a picture of the family prior to the game. His sister Robyn decked everyone out in Sabres jerseys.

Eric and me... my shirt says Rookie right across my baby bump. I got a ton of comments from other Sabres fans at the game. Cute shirt.

Parents, Robyn and friend Jess at game...
Blowing out his candles at the game...

His family has this great tradition for birthdays that end in '0'. They get a pie in the face. And his Mom got him good. At the game. In the suite. He had so much whip cream in his eyes that they were red and watery the rest of the evening. And we made a bit of a mess in the suite. Oops.

I LOVE playing cards with his family. Here is just one shot of the many times we played...

One day we drove up to Loveland to spend time with his Mother's sister. Here is Dodie welcoming us into her home...

She scheduled a tour of the New Belgium Brewery in Ft Collins. The family enjoying a tasting after the tour...

Thanks Werth family for making Eric's 40th one he will always remember!!

Week 66

Ah, a new year. Eric and I used some of his Marriott reward points and went up to the Rockies for the holiday weekend. This was our view from our hotel window. Ski lift is right there. It was pretty foggy/hazy or I would have tried to get a picture of the beautiful mountains as well.

It was beyond freezing cold. Like -20 with windchill. Eric ventured out and went skiing for a few hours both days. I did not even walk outside on day #2. I lounged in the lobby by the fire and read a book, took naps, just relaxed. Lovely.
Our room was right above the lobby and the hotel had a NYE party in the lobby. We could hear the music very clearly from our room. We roamed around and watched the party, chatted it up with a few people and then headed to our room by 11:30 to watch a movie knowing we wouldn't be able to go to bed until after the party was over at 1am. Um, we fell asleep before midnight... with that loud music and everything. We're losers and apparently very tired that night.

Well people, its now time to think baby around here since we are officially in the third trimester. We were fortunate enough to use our american express and visa reward points and got some baby essentials that were delivered this past week. Here is Eric amongst the mess of stuff putting it all together...

The finished changing table on its side. Not sure why I don't have a picture of it upright...

The bassinet...

The car seat and stroller...

This stuff takes up room! Where are we going to put it all?! And I still can't believe I own a car seat and baby stroller. We pushed it around after it was all together. It was weird. Very weird.

I finally picked a pattern for a baby quilt. Now I just need to go get the fabric and start it. We signed up for childbirth and infant CPR classes. Progress is being made. We may just be ready after all.

And here is me at week 28. My stomach is tight. There is no way I can get any bigger... yet I have a feeling I will. Is there anyway it will stay just like this? I can still bend over and tie my shoes like this. I still sleep fairly well like this. I can still clean the bathtub and shower like this. Lets just stay like this. And yes, we still have our Christmas tree up. Eric's family comes Tuesday and he really wants them to see our festive house. It will be down on Wednesday. ;)
