Ah-ha!

We finish eating a healthy dinner and this is what happens...

just me talking

I really meant to take pictures today so it isn't just me rambling on but alas I forgot my camera again.
The weather today in Denver was beautiful. EW and I got on our bikes (his bike and a neighbors bike we borrowed) and went out for a couple hours. He has a bike trail right in front of his building that goes for miles and miles. We stopped at Whole Foods for salad and sushi and then rode through the multi-million dollar neighborhood on the way back and gawked.
And then of course we made a trip to Target because what is a Saturday without a trip to Target. :)
Now it is back to the grill for steak and veggies for dinner.

Eat, Pray, Love

Have any of you read or are reading this book?! It is SO GOOD. I had to call Laurel and share a passage of the book with her this evening. It is about a woman in her early 30s who goes on a year long quest to get over a divorce, another heartbreak and to find God.

She starts in Italy where her goal is to learn the language and just enjoy the amazing food. (that was good).

The second place she goes is India where she spends 4 months in an Ashram (a worship center). I have to say, it makes me want to go to India and meditate for 4 solid months. I knew these people mediated and prayed but I had no idea the extent of their worship. She meets people from all over the world who have the same goal in mind. I find it fascinating what has occurred in these peoples lives to drive them to a worship center in India. Some people were just born with a hunger for spiritual experiences. It makes me think about what God means to me and what mortality means to me in a new light and what I should be accomplishing here on Earth. I'm just about done with this section and looking forward to the third section on her travels in Indonesia...

Excellent book. Go get it.

When we're healthy, we're happy

(That title is suppose to be to the primary tune of "When we're helping, we're happy")

Tonights dinner. yum, yum, yum. Eric grilled a pork chop and tons of veggies and also baked a sweet potato. I've been a bit of a slacker recently about my diet and recommitted myself to doing better which means I've recommitted him as well (at least when he is with me). How good does this look?!

To Denver, to Denver

I left work about 10 minutes early to go get a pedicure. I really just wanted to sit in the massage chair and soak my feet for 30 minutes but the painted toes were good too.

I got home about 5:45 and my phone rang. EW got me a plane ticket to head to Denver tonight at 7:45. Uh, 7:45?! I convinced him to move it back to the 9p flight. So I ate my little dinner, packed my bags and headed to the airport. I love spontaneity. Won't he be glad when I come with a suitcase full of dirty clothes. :)

Yes Bobbie... I am on my way to Denver.

Hey Ty... can you water my flowers while I'm gone??? :)

Viva Las Vegas

It is Katie, Brittany (Katie's roommate), Tyler and Erin's weekend o' fun in Vegas.

It is always great to have family up here visiting and what a great weekend they chose. It was near 80 today and light wind. I ditched work at noon and we headed down to the Strip. Tyler has been wanting to go to the Ferrari dealership at the Wynn; so we did. I actually didn't realize it was a real car dealership; thought it was just a display thing. We chatted with one of the sales guys for a bit. They sale between 20 - 30 cars/month. And apparently you just can't buy a brand new Ferrari. You have to work your way up to a brand new one. It was fascinating. They have one that they let people sit in and they will take your picture. I think Tyler was in heaven. Average price - $250,000. Wow.

The other thing Tyler has always wanted to do is to ride the Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere. We headed over there Thursday evening. That was my 6th time riding it and it still FREAKS me out! (Remember when you and I went, Heather and you told me you hated me? LOL).

Brittany had never been to Vegas so it was fun waking through the casinos and showing her the sites. We of course stopped at the Bellagio where their Spring conservatory display did not disappoint. The smell of flowers was overwhelming.

All Katie wanted to do was be able to sleep in and sit by the pool. I think tomorrow we will be able to accomplish both successfully!

The three of them just walked down the street to grab a movie for the evening; I wore them out walking around all day. I decided to sit here and blog while they are out doing that. :)

I'm busy

I have a lot of things to do and feeling that I don't have enough time. I just spent the last 70 minutes working on my demo database for an upcoming tradeshow and that was after I went to the doctor, cleaned my two bathrooms and started laundry. It is 8pm and I really need to go to the grocery store in preparation for my arriving guests tomorrow. I have two quilts to finish, a calendar to make to hand out on Sunday, a new suit to purchase for previous mentioned tradeshow, about 5 documents that must be finished at work this week and I'd like to hit the gym. I needed to vent. I'm done. I better keep moving...

Weekend Update

Eric finally met Bobbie! (and Roger, my Dad, Robert, Lisa, Tyler, Josh, Chad, Anne, Keith, Dani, Forrest, Hunter, Grace). The only reason Mark & Cindy and family weren't there is cause I didn't want to overwhelm him. Uh, would it really have mattered after seeing that long list of names?! :)

We drove down Saturday and spent the afternoon playing cards, BBQing, playing more cards, chatting, playing dominoes and letting everyone get to know him. But we both forgot our cameras. Stink. Where are the Simonton's when you need them?! :)

He fits in very well with my family. He really enjoyed getting to know everyone and everyone really liked him. I think my favorite part of the weekend was watching Tyler and Eric interact. I love Tyler to death. He is the sweetest, coolest kid (kid? teenager. young adult) and it was fun to watch them talk about anything and everything. I think this relates back to my comment about Eric liking Laurel and Deana; there are certain people in my life that I was hoping Eric would really appreciate and connect with. And it was so true with Tyler. Makes me happy.

Why is this funny?

http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/

Its so dumb yet I couldn't stop looking at it at work today. Could. Not. Stop. And laughed every time.

My favorite is "Chuck Norris CAN believe its not butter". funny. I'm laughing right now.

I think Deana is the only person I know who can appreciate why I'm laughing cause she was laughing too.

(Deana has gotten a lot of blog attention lately from me. That is what happens after a weekend together).

Girls Weekend

Every March for as long as I have been friends with Deana I have been a part of Girls Weekend in St. George. Her friend Amy has a family condo that is our weekend retreat. The rules are as follows:
  • no dieting allowed
  • no boyfriends
  • no babies
  • no husbands
  • must be willing to relax and do nothing
  • must be willing to play cards
  • must be willing to play BINGO in Mesquite
  • must be willing to chat about anything and everything
  • must be willing to laugh at yourself

I got back last night from our annual adventure. We had SUCH a great time! I look forward to this trip every year. I love my girlfriends! I wonder how women can survive without girlfriends. We laughed and laughed and laughed and talked and talked and talked. I always feel re-energized after the weekend ready to take on any and all challenges sent my way. Thanks girls for the memories!!

Yes, this is a real sign

My friend Deana found this at a Hallmark store in their discount bin. Shocker, cause who would you ever buy this for?! And yes, that is a Hippo holding the sign!

A Big Step

Well, I want to let everyone know that I made a major lifestyle change today. I've made the switch to caffeine-free Diet Coke. Yep. I was surfing the web a couple nights ago and saw an article about soda detox and how to break the addiction. Did you all know that it is the caffeine that is addicting?! I know that sounds ridiculous but honestly it didn't even cross my mind that it is the caffeine that is causing my addiction and not the aspartame. Seriously. I'm dumb. So the article suggested switching to caffeine free Diet Coke by slowly adding it to my regular Diet Coke. So I am starting the half regular half caffeine-free bit. As of today. I think I'll do this for a couple weeks and then move to 1/4 to 3/4 until I'm a full blown caffeine-free drinker. Wow huh?
