Catch this show if you haven't!

Just caught this movie today @ Cineleisure (ok, I know I'm kind of slow, but it so happens that this was one of the few comedies showing now). I was so afraid that it'll turn out to be a Korean spin-off of Mr and Mrs Smith. Surprisingly, it was pretty original in its arrangement, and pretty hilarious. One of the few movies that kept me laughing aloud throughout the movie. (Even Jack Neo's productions are more like one good laugh every... 20/30 minutes?)

So yea, do catch the movie. Pretty good entertainment for $6.00 (alas, I bought my tix at $8.50: :( UOB card failed! - UOB Bank, if you're reading this, you just earned yourself some hate points today). But yea, it wasn't particularly painful parting $2.50 more for this movie, especially when its 2 full hours, too :)

Yep, so far two papers down, one was ok and the other one was half-screwed (which was, coincidentally, my worst module. So i suppose it wasn't that bad :S)

Three more next week!

Perfection is one's worst enemy.

I think it applies not just for finance but most aspects of life, too. (Most apt for essay-writing, perhaps. heh) Read it, here.

random: on positive mental health

I always find it interesting to read about 'happiness' or 'positive mental well-being' (perhaps this is a subconscious attempt to try to dissociate myself from things like low grades and low bank accounts. tee hee)

*

Anyway, excerpts from a science article in today's Saturday page, from The Straits Times (Measuring S'pore's mental well-being, p. D9):

"Mental health is more than just the absence of mental illness... [it is] a state 'of well-being in which the individual realises his or her abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to the community' [emphasis mine]. ...

[Positive mental health] is more than a current emotional and psychological state; it is an estimate of the capability and potential of an individual to be mentally healthy...

Two philosophies have dominated [the] field of research [on positive mental health] - the hedonic and the eudaimonic vews. While the hedonistic approach refers to the pursuit of pleasure or happiness, eudaimonia lies in the actualisation of human potential and conveys the belief that well-being consists of fulfilling one's true nature. [emphasis mine]"

watch this space for the writing of history in action.

it appears I just got rejected for my Museum application. boooz. The funny thing was, the clarification email and then the follow up 'please-disregard-the-previous-email' email was spaced a few hours apart. I suppose I can't blame them; (1) a newbie, (2) who has lots of clarification issues to sort out with You-Know-Who @ B.V. (which one of my lecturer endearingly calls "the dark tower" lol), (3) who can only start work 1.5 months later, isn't particularly useful.

In any case, watch how my perception of this issue changes on 22 Dec when exam results come out. hoho.

random II

It is amazing that at a critical time like this, I have chosen to indulge in some non-work related reading instead of doing something more productive (like, work on my 2 essays). Anyway, I like three particular chapters (or articles, actually) in What the Dog saw: "Something Borrowed", "The Art of Failure", and "Late Bloomers".

Now, back to work.

random

I find this article.... hmmmmm....

*

Anyway, while filling up a form today, I realised that its exactly 2 years since I ORD-ed. -random-
What has changed since then? What did I set out to change? Where have I succeeded, or failed?
