So 'epic Friday' finally ended. It didn't end very well, but oh well.
Thanks to L and GJ for chilling out Friday night; it certainly helped to make the past three weeks a bit more bearable. They deserve credit for absorbing my occasional (to put it mildly) barrage of bitchings on a Friday night when they could seek out more interesting people to hang out with. :)

When I wake up tomorrow, I'll be ready for the 3rd last round. And then it'll be the 2nd last and then the last round. Time flies.
*
p.s. haven't had time to read Gladwell's new book What the dog saw.

random
I ought to learn to be a satisficer when it comes to reading, writing, and essaying.
Is that en route to mediocrity?
*
Gosh. I realise that I've never been to the National Museum since it was opened in Dec 2006. That's nearly three years ago.

it's Week 11
On this Sunday night, I'm happy to say that I'm somewhat done for my second essay. And I shall have to move on to doing the third (ok not now; tomorrow). Sigh. At least the semester is coming to a close, though I still have many essays due. whew. I have also recently added a stress-and-urgency-inducing gadget on my Windows sidebar:

Yes, it's a Countdown timer to the first day of my exams (no, it was meant to be a happy device to countdown to X'mas). Of course, you will also note my rather useless attempts at softening its impact by using a relaxing, holiday-mood wallpaper.
Oh well. After all, it'll all end in... oh 37 days.

Short update
Last week was a horrible week for various reasons. But anyway, it's over, so chill. The bad news is that work is getting even busier. hoho. That helps put things into perspective, doesn't it?
On the bright side, its only like 45 days to the end of the exams. wow.
*
Anyway, I've also sent in my SEP application. In order of choice:
1. University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada)
2. University of Toronto (Toronto, Canada)
3. University of McGill (Montreal, Canada)
4. York University (Toronto, Canada. Not the UK one. That's Uni of York. I realised that not too long ago too haha)
5. University of Edinburgh (Scotland, UK)
I decided on UBC rather than UT in the end, because of:
1. accommodation issues (I'm a bit worried about ending up in the airport for accommodation during my SEP in UT),
2. the courses (too many full year modules in UT la. Much more accommodating in UBC. So guys out there applying for SEP, take some time to do your study plan properly! esp. if you intend to do GEMs and Breadths and UEs. Don't just anyhow draw up a plan; otherwise you might end up with nothing to take on SEP next year!)
3. the environment (much less city-like in UBC, according to my friend. More of outdoors and nature. Might be a good change :). Though unfortunately standard of living seems similar in both areas.)
Now, only to pray hard for the posting results. (and hope my CAP doesn't drop so much that the overseas uni rejects my application :S)
*
Just applied for a part-time research assistant position @ the National Museum. Because of some issues I don't think I'm going to get it, but oh well. I'm kind of iffy about the whole business too. I think I'm just plain lazy. hoho.

its october.
Thanks to the school bureaucrats, Im only supposed to attend school for a few hours on two days next week. So that's sort of like recess week 2. Unfortunately, my impeccably competent prof has the bright idea of calling us back on the usual lecture slot because of some special program arranged. oh well. At least its more interesting than hearing him/her speak.
*
Being October also means that the semester ends (for me, at least) exactly 2 months from now. scary. That also means its crazy essay-submission season for me, as compared to the previous half of the semester which was a little more lax.
*
I also hope to square away my IPPT maybe next saturday or sth. That would allow me not to have to bring lots of things to Maju and I can cab there and back w/o paying surcharge (+35%!); that's what the additional S$13.68 that Mindef gives us is for. (I should really consider a career in the army.) Its practically impossible to travel through Bukit Timah on weekday evenings.
*
Ok back to my books this weekend. Hopefully I can have most of my essay done (unlikely), or at least thought through (more likely). That will free up some time hopefully for my upcoming presentation-of-sorts which seem to be in some trouble.
