Hmmm...how do i begin this...mungkin ada diantara kalian terbaca tulisan diakhbar (entertainment section that is n im not blaming any of the writers k) perihal tentang 2 buah radio station, satu yang kecik dan satu lagi manyak BUSAT...
Well put it this way...i won't make any noise (with the statements i made in the papers) if i'm not sure what i was talking about...Working in a radio station is a great job...tak yah nak angkat2 benda berat or kira2 stock or buat kira2...in what other profession do you get paid to listen to great music all day long?...It is easy to get diillusioned and jaded when concern for profit seems to make creativity a luxury, if not a vice. But whatever it is we continuously strive to give our best in terms of music Malaysians demand.
You see beginning of this year we made a major revamp to the formatics of our station (in radio terms if u change ur format IT IS a HUGE thing ok, so u better do ur homework properly to make sure u r spot on; sori MJ have to use u to exemplify, so its like changing the color of ur skin tau bukan saja buat hidung, tebal kan bibir n etc)...after DOING extensive research and through many many brainstorming sessions...we chose the most suitble formatics for us at that time n decided to go with "40 minit muzik terbaik tanpa henti" format...
Before i proceed...let me share something 1st...radio ni kan kat mana2 negara pun kat dunia ni tak ada satu radio pun yang boleh claim yang idea itu adalah idea mereka sendiri (of which i TOTALLY agree with that brader punye comment)...its near impossible to do so...so memang saya akui idea concept/format 40 minit yang kami applikasikan itu bukan lah benda baru...malah banyak radio2 lain dinegara kita (satu ketika dulu) dan negara lain pernah menggunakan format ini...
Tetapi!...sebelum kami membuat keputusan untuk mengapplikasikan concept tersebut...we DID our homework to make sure NONE of our DIRECT competitors ada menggunakan concept/format yang sama pada ketika itu...(did u?)...it is the BIGGEST sin in radio if you change something (even if its minor so let alone major la kan) without doing proper homework or research (benda ni semua org yang kerja di radio tahu, so its nothing new)... because the last thing u want to find out is ur competitor is ALREADY doing the same BLOODY thing...n u will end up for no reason being labelled a copycat...
I feel very humble to say Suria still has a long way to go...but believe u me we are working really hard to put ourselves on the right track...since day 1 of operations we knew what we needed however we had to wait nearly 3 years to get it...but alhamdulillah...we managed to sort out some pressing issues late last year...n thnx to the support we've been perpetually getting from every1...
K enuf of the sedih story (serious, wa sedih terkenang kisah2 lalu ni)...look kok ye pung tak kang la tak dok idea laing kot..."40 minit b&b#s @k!a+"...itu concept SEBIJON la brader ngan "40 minit muzik terbaik tanpa henti"...(i'm not the type who runs down my opponents unfairly or even fairly...people who know me n even the friends i hv in UR organisation can testify to that)...but common la, as much as i hate to do this, u left me with no choice but to defend our ground...(dalam rugby theres a term called "hospital ball"...its a situation where u waaait for ur opponent to be in and BAM! u hit them where it hurts most)...
Berlambak-lambak (teringat kat bubur lambuk pulak tiba2, tak lama lagi nak puasa ek) lagi idea2 lain yang boleh pakai, apasal la ko pilih 40 minit jugak...TRUST me until today i still can't believe what had happened...being in the position where they are in, i expected something way BIGGER than that...coz i always give them the much due respect (n other stations in the country too) for running a great station...
Riders theres nothing more stimulating n rewarding than to know what we've been doing all this while is actually being recognised by u know who la kan...
I shall now share with you comments i seeked from a radio expert in the US, Mr. RW:
"40 Minutes Non Stop Music is a world renowned radio format that delivers Weekly Reach (the total amount of listeners) but also Time Spent Listening (the amount of time an average listener spends with their favourite radio station). It is known that Malaysians love to listen to uninterrupted music but radio stations also need to pay the bills as well. I'm surprised the market leading radio station has to resort to copying the exact formatics of Suria FM without the merest hint of creativity about it. It's flattering that they feel Suria FM's programming is such a threat to them but I would have thought they could have been a bit more original in their 'new' format choice. I trust Suria FM won't be beaten on The Best Music - Non Stop which is why they went to 50 Minutes Non Stop Music (the VERY next day!) and I was told listeners response has been even more positive than before!"A market leader has actually done the marketing for us...and the best thing is we got it for FREE!...Wahuahuahuahua...Stay on ur bikes for Part 2...
