This year our summer vacation found us in L.A. I was not excited because L.A. does nothing for my driving anxiety, but after many prayers for safety we were off. Since we were going to L.A. our first stop of course had to be the Staples Center. We programmed the GPS and it took us straight through L.A. with all of its traffic. We did not realize beforehand that the X Games were there so that was a surprise. I am glad Prince was finally able to see the Staples center. We walked around for a little bit, and the kids loved seeing where "Kobe lives". Then we were off to our hotel.
After we got settled into our hotel we headed out to Redondo beach. We ate a cute diner called Ruby's. There was an classic car show going on outside, and it was a really fun atmosphere. After dinner the kids were so excited to see the ocean, we headed for the pier. They had a little boardwalk with a fun little arcade. The kids loved the little carousel and I took Samarrah on the Tilt-O-Whirl for the first time. I am definitely not as young as I used to be I wanted to hurl. It was a gorgeous night, the kids loved seeing all of the crabs they had that were for sale.
Saturday morning we got ready for the beach. It was really cold and foggy, but we ended up driving around for a few hours so by the time we got to the beach the sun was out but it was still chilly. The kids were not very into the beach this year, but that did not keep me and Prince from having fun. We went to Manhattan Beach, it was really pretty.
After our beach adventure we went home changed our clothes and went out to Chilis, we had to wait for a bit so the kids ran up and down the handicap ramp while we had a mini photoshoot. After dinner we went back to the hotel and enjoyed hanging out together. The kids love staying in hotels. This one was an extended stay hotel, but very small. We had a kitchen, but room for the kids to sleep was lacking so Ayo slept under the table and Samarrah slept with half off her body in the closet. The kids thought it was so cool.
On Sunday before we came home we stopped at the LA temple. It was huge, and beautiful. We had never been before, and thought it was gorgeous. THe kids had a great time exploring the grounds, and we were able to reinforce some of the things they already know about the temple. It was a great way to end our vacation.
After a great trip we were all rally tired, but so happy for the memories we made! It was great to be together!
