Eat and Train @ Kuala Lumpur

Had a quick/short getaway just to use up my "family day" leave, to a place none other than our neighbouring country - KL.
After queuing up for close to 1.5 hours... we finally got the pass to go up to Pentronas Tower. The actual queuing takes about 45min, but darn, the !@#!@# people do things sooooo slowly and have no sense of urgency, they took a freaking 45min just to distribute the tickets... wtf.
and this is where i reside for the next 3 days, just stone throw away from KLCC. See the swimming pool at the roof? That's where i go for my morning swim before my breakfast served beside the pool. =D

Feeling hungry after queuing up. The buns from Roti Boy are truly not something to die for, they don't taste that great anymore.
Auntie Anne's is always nice. I asked for Cheese dip, and their cheese dip = Butter. -_-
Lunch was at Sungei Wang, and I was again so hungry that we just went to something familiar, i.e Kim Gary, and it was a bad choice. Good enough to fill by stomach, but not good enough to satisfy my tastebuds. =(
I only like the Peanut Butter Toast with condense milk. Everything else, just *pui*.

Go! Go! Curry! @ Ion

The empty shell at B3 of Ion is finally taken up by a F&B tenant, and I like the way they do up their shopfront. The way they display their food natually makes me want to give it a try despite that they offer FRIED stuffs!

even the flyers makes the food like enticing, no? So, basically they serve curry rice. Their curry is very different from the normal jap curry that we normally see/eat. It is darker in colour, and smells stronger and texture is thicker!
The curry rice can be served with Chicken Katsu, Pork Katsu, Sausage, Shrimp or even just plain rice with curry! Go go Curry!
For each type that you choose, you can choose the portion of rice that you want. For someone like me who eats very little rice, I welcome this option with open arms. The amount of rice that you want is classified into different classes. E.g. Healthy class contains less rice than economy class, and Biz class contains more rice than economy etc...
Yumz. I ordered Pork Katsu (Healthy Class) for they are renown for it according to them. But i thought that the Pork katsu is a tat too dry. Maybe Chicken katsu would have been a better choice. Juicer maybe? - $11.50
The curry is definitely very nice... It makes me finish the entire plate of rice... clean.

Since I am still so "Young" @ Heart, I got a Junior plate for sharing! I want to go back again! :)

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon - My Results

I am happy with my results despite feeling so negative about it hours before the race. The atmosphere of the place makes me go "boomz", and my feet just keeps going despite the lactic acid that was building up as I approach the end. It was good fun and good run, but of course not all is entirely good... because it has been 2 days since the race and my sole is still hurting when I flexed it. Other than that, my legs have fully recovered.

Net time (minus away the lag time): 4:38hrs

and the details...

As you can see, my speed for the first 30km is ok, but my last 12km starts to slow down... hehe

The timing was better than expected, because I really wanted to be easy on myself since I just recovered from my gastric flu. But when I start my feet gets going, it just went on and on. My target was an hour per 10km, and I am glad that I managed to stick close to the pace that I have set out for.

and a nice cool J.Cool Yogurt to cool myself down, and replenish the sugar that I have lost!

what's next after SCSM 2009?

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009 - The Eve

I am barely 10 hours away from the race, but I am still not feeling prepared... Not feeling prepared in many ways!

1. My last run was a week ago! Did a 28km. I did not manage to clock my 30km.
2. I stopped running for a week, because I was SICK! Monday, I left office halfway through a meeting after a bad migraine. The migraine was soon followed by Gastric Flu. =(
3. I just recovered. In fact, I am not exactly sure if I have recovered. I will know tomorrow. =(
4. I still do not have much appetite, meaning I did not carbo load the day before the race, which is like now?!?! Forget about carbo loading, I doubt I am eating enough. zzz.
5. I am a bit demoralised after being OOA for a week. So mentally, I am telling myself to be easy on myself tomorrow, Forget about sub 5.

Running Apparels for tomorrow! All from NEW BALANCE! =D (minus the vaseline to prevent abrasion esp the armpits area for me!)

and... My Word of Encouragement to the rest out dere ya!? Run Hard, Have fun guys!

New Racer - RC769

769 has a stability running shoes - NB769, but now the "racer" version has arrived! RC769 is sleeker in design and much lighter - 225grams only! Who says NB shoes are always bulky and big... if you want something sleek, then get a RC.
Now i am contemplating if i should wear this for my threadmill and track training, or use it as a normal walking shoes!

SGX Bull Run

3.2km, but it feels shorter than it should be. came in 2nd from my coy ( was there someone infront of me?) timing 11min, could be fast if not for the starting bottle-neck! It was good fun. Post-race was filled with lots of FOOD! Swensens ice cream, catered food, i ate 7 drumlets! and free flow of Chang Beer.

Back to office, changed. Went to Lau Pa Sat for... Satay, Wings, Stingray and Sotong! I skipped the beer. :)

New Toy from New Balance - Hydration Belt

Finally got my hydration belt over the weekends from New Balance! 4 x 170ml, which is more than enough for me to cover 30k now. Usually i will get thirsty at around 20k, and I will have to stop (usually at macritchie or Junction 8 for a water break before continuing... haha)

Anyway, it's 4.13 in the morning right now and i just ate my breakfast which consist of 1 beh teh soh and 250ml of H20. Now waiting for another 45min before i will be out to cover 27k... hopefully i can, and hopefully the sky permits me to! Bringing along 170ml of H20 and 170ml of water with me...
Key Milestones to look forward to:
1 more day to SGX Bullrun
9 days to Batam
17 more days to Standard Chartered Marathon!
30 more days to KL

Sportade

Now that I am running thrice during the weekday early in the morning, it is essential for me to get the necessary glucose to fuel me for the next 1 - 2 hours, and to be fully hydrated before and after my run. But I think I should have stick to gatorade instead of Sportade. It is cheaper, but taste wise, it is baddd, toooo sweet for my liking, and the flavours taste wierd + they do not contains potassium, just glucose and sodium.

Anyway, to those who run very often and run long distance, it is essential to replenish not just water, but also the electrolytes lost while running, hence, we drinks these sports drink. Even for weight watchers, don't avoid this! The good news is that you can savour these sugary drinks! You are asking your body to perform when running, so reward it! If you try and curb this sugar intake which is essential and is required, what happens is that you might have more cravings for sweet stuffs later. So why not do your body some good while it is performing, and they also help your body to hydrate 30% faster than water, and the sodium/potassium helps prevent muscle cramps too!

But if you are those who just jog/run for less than 30min, normal water will be good enough to keep you hydrated.

One (1) more month to Stand Chart Marathon! =D

To those who have yet to register for this race, the registration for the physical race may be over, BUT fret not!

Apart from being physically present at the starting point on race day itself, the wonderful thing about this whole Nike+ Human Race is that you can also participate virtually on Nike+ in any parts of the world. So now, no more excuses for not running and that you have missed the deadline =P all you have to do is just 3 simple steps:

1. Gear up with Nike+ Accessories

2. Register online to be a Nike+ Member, and register for the virtual race

3. On 10.24.2009, run your 10K anytime during the day then sync your run for the Nike+ Human race, and see how you fare compared to the rest

From today to race day, you can also sync your runs and get race-ready by choosing any of the 10k Nike+ Coach training programs specially catered for all levels of runners! Or even challenge with your friends to a friendly 10k challenge.

There is also another category which you and me and participate!

That is the GVG Challenge, in short for GUYS vs. GIRLS challenge!

This is what makes this year’s Nike Human Race even more interesting, that is the GUYS vs. GIRLS Challenge. This is actually a run-up event to the actual Nike Human Race. If you are interested, all you have to do is to sign up for this challenge, and if you are a guy, naturally you will represent the guy’s team and vice versa, and so the gender that clocked the highest mileage will be the winner! BUT this is all done in the name of charity. The winning gender will donate as follows:

1st Stage (12 Sept – 26 Sept): Nike donates S$5,000 to the winning gender’s charity
2nd Stage (27 Sept – 3 Oct): Nike donates S$5,000 to the winning gender’s charity
3rd Stage (4 Oct – 10 Oct): Nike donates S$10,000 to the winning gender’s charity
4th Stage (11 Oct – 17 Oct): Nike donates S$10,000 to the winning gender’s charity
5th Stage (18 Oct – 24 Oct): Nike donates S$20,000 to the winning gender’s charity

So guys! To support the guys sign up now over here! Click - GUYS come and join the challenge. But Ladies! I know many good female runners out there, and you too can do your part for your gender, but most importantly for the charity. LADIES come and join the Challenge now! But side track just a little, every time when I do my morning runs at the weeee hours of 4+ 5am, i see muchhhh more ladies than guys!

You can also log on and check “real time” on which gender is taking the lead… how cool is that! And apparently guys is taking the lead now… but but… girls do not give up! Now there is more reason for you to join!

There is also a leaderboard whereby you can track the mileage you have clocked and see where you stand amongst the challenges!

I am so gonna get the Nike+ Gear so that i can at least participate in this! Nike+ helps to track your mileage, calories burned, time and pace. With this, I can literally dump my POLAR watch away! Hehe. You can also upload your running data to Nike + online and track your progress over time, days and weeks. You can also join online “races” or “challenges”. For people who are usually unmotivated, this is really a great way to get yourself motivated and connect with like-minded people online who are also Nike+ users.

Enough of my wall-of-text. I think this video explains all, and let you have a understanding of what Nike+ is all about… Video on what is Nike Plus

And all that is required is a Ipod + a Nike Sensor to be inserted in the Nike + enabled shoes. Simple! But then for someone like me who does not own a iPod, another option for me is to get the Nike Sportband! You can pull the attachment out from the band, and insert it into your computer just like a thumbdrive and transfer your workouts data to the computer instantly!

Nike+ gears is more than simply buying the gears, tracking your runs, our calories and distance etc. I believe that the main selling point is the whole experience of Nike+. With Nike+, Running is no longer the same as yester-year anymore. Nike+ brings the whole running experience to a whole new level, connecting you to the BIGGEST running club in the world, joining challenges around the world and making new friends around the world.

For runners, with Nike+, this is indeed the time to celebrate the joy of running worldwide.

Running together on the same day, sharing the same joy in

running, undivided by geographical locations

P.S. I Love You ------ P.S Cafe

The plot of this story is of those typical American Film, that potrays 2 lovey dovey couples and how tragedy strikes them, and how one overcomes it. But nevertheless, prolly I will get its DVD and catch it over the next weekend.

Dinner was @ P.S Cafe.
I have heard great "stories" about how fantastic this place was, and I couldn't believe myself until a few weeks back, when I stepped into the Dempsey branch. Food aside, I really love the ambience and the deco of the whole place. Unfortunately, the cafe was closed early on our first visit at its Dempsey Branch, so I make it a point to revisit this place again. But this time round, it is at Palais Renaissance instead of Dempsey.

A glass of MOCHA is probably the cheapest "item" you can find here. The coffee are cheaper than those in SB/CB/TCC etc, but yet I think they are nicer!

Main intention of visiting P.S Cafe was not primarily for the main dish. But we ended up with what i call, the "Atas Satay". The proper name to this dish is called MOROCCAN LAMB. Chunks of medium done lamb kebabs topped with Yogurt, lying on a bed of rice. The Skewers is Ginger and Dukkah crusted, making it aromatic and crusty on the outside, yet juicy and red inside. Oven-roasted tomatoes are served alongside, adding sweetness to this spicy moroccan dish. Overall, I really love this dish.

The
main intention of the visit is here!!!

PINEAPPLE MERINGUE PIE served with vanilla ice cream. Sadly, this dessert was a disappointment. The Whitish part was over-ly sweetttt. The crust of the pie is nice, but the filling was not appetising. The filling taste almost the same as our Pineapple tart s that we eat duing Chinese New Year... The whole pie just doesn't taste right! =(

But luckily,
DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BLACKOUT CAKE served with vanilla ice cream saved the day! The Fudge to sponge cake proportion was just nice. I dislike cakes that has too much sponge, or too much fudge, this is just nice. The layers of fudges will not give you the "Jelat" feeling, and the warm cake eaten with the cold vanilla ice cream is simply heavenly, and that makes my day. =)

Overall, I like everything about P.S cafe, from its ambience to its food!

My Longgg Weekend

I finally get to enjoy my first long weekend (Sat, Sun and Mon) ever since I started working. Weekends are really precious for working people, and long weekend is even more important. I have been feeling very tired after work most of the time, and even to the point of getting headaches, and this is quite common. sigh

So my long weekend (all thanks to Hari Raya) was devoted to exercise and fun!

Saturday - was gym.

Sunday- I went to the gym, I ran 3k and I swam. 3 different exercise in one day, MADNESS! Now I am looking forward to my sunday swimming sessions because I have found a new place for lunch after my swim!

Monday - was the best. Went to East Coast Park to cycle (on a double date! ) We cycled from from 1045am till 5pm! 6 hours of gruelling but fun session, and I came back home red like a steamed crab fresh from the steamer. The 6 hours was not just purely cycling, we cycled to Changi Village, and on our way there, we grabbed some drinks, and the pitstop at Changi Village was a simple sandwich and drinks. On our way back to ECP, the sky "cried" on us, so we ended up at ECP hawker center for an indulgence of BBQ Wings, Tau Pok Rojak and Otah!
Before we went back to cycle along ECP again. We were famished after the 6 hours by then! Dinner was Popeyes at changi T3, which wasn't satisfying enough, so that was followed by a trip to P.S Cafe at Dempsey, but we were indeed down on luck, as the cafe happens to close at 8.30pm just for that day! Grrr... So we ended up at TCC at Keppel Bay, soup, some cakes and some drinks. I never like TCC, and I still don't. After that was a walk to around Keppel Bay, admiring the yatch, and wondering... when will I ever own one... I wonder Wonder wonder... Wake up FDGM!~

sure my day looks fun, BUT... it was not entirely! What I did not mentioned was that I injured my leg, and now I will be out of action for a few days. I have not been exercising since Monday, and tomorrow will bethe 3rd day that I did not exercise... The fatness feeling is kicking in! Gee!
