Chicken Rice not so Nice - Wee Nam Kee

After reading from some blog about this place, I decide to give it a try! So after my swim, My growling tummy got to tahan until I reach Novena! There are many blogs saying that this place serve one of the best chicken rice, some even say that this is the best in Singapore! A word too "big" to use i guess... Usually this place is very crowded in the evening, probably due to its good location and everyone is hungry after a day's work, and anything taste better when you are hungry...

The garlic paste looks good, I scooped some into my spoon and ate it... there's sesame oil fused in it.

Ahh.... Im hungry, why is the food not here yet??? So i drank the soup... Well the soup taste very "MSG friendly"! so there I am..slurping the soup away until the chicken rice arrives...

Chicken Rice is here! finally... waiting time about 10min on a non-peak afternoon. The rice is very different from other chicken rice outlets. You can see and feel the individual grains in your mouth as you chew on it... very chewy. I must say that the rice is one of the better ones I had so far...

4.4 Rice / 5.0 Rice

Lets zoom in to the Chicken! The chiken looks good on the picture, but it doesn't taste as good as it is. I like Hainanese Chicken whereby the meat is "cold", and the meat is not as tender as it should be... I should have eaten at The Yishun Chicken Rice after my swim. The $6.00 chicken rice is cheaper and nicer than this $9.40 Chicken Rice. (Price is for 2 person). The 40 cents is for the wet tissue.

3.8 Chicken / 5.0 Chicken

will i ever go back again? dun think so...

My Pre-BirdDay and Home Made Moon Cake

My Bird Day is coming, but haven't come. But treat has come. Also good for me.
Cos treat = free food. This Guy named Guy-Dar in the Monkee Tee Shirt treated me Botak Jones! Well... I chose the place though I have been here like a thousand times!!!... This place is cheap, but not when you order a lot! HAHA

Lotsa cheesezzzz Sandwich - A sandwich made with lots of cheese! Cheddar cheese, mozarella cheese and parmesan! 3 cheeses melted into one. I chose those, cos i love cheese! The cheese is nice, but it will be nicer if they are more generous with the amount... and the tip to eat this is... eat while its hot! If its cold, its all hardened, and the the shiok factor drop by a factor of 5.

MS ate this... Botak Burger!
she likes the patty, and so do i... I like the smokey smokey taste... Side dish was Corn on a cob and Spicy Fries...

Some Beef sausage... So Big la... and its very juicy inside... I cannot tell the difference between beef and pork sausage. Any guru can teach me? They taste the same leh...

My main! All time my favourite. Cajun Chicken. Its th healthiest amongst all, for its chicken breast, good for my post work-out that day! heh. and its not oily... its thick and filling too! The sides were Mexican rice and Pasta Salad. Both of which were so-so...

Treater ordered the same thing as me, but his sides was spicy fries and coleslaw....u so boringgggg... haha!

The above was eaten yesterday!

and today... not related to my Pre - bird day

I got home-made mooncake from Biaos, someone whom I met over the forum and goes to the same gym as me! Thanks Biaos for the wonderful snow skin mooncake! Immediately after my gym, I took half a mouthful so that I can take a nice shot of it! Inside is white lotus, but it has a nutty flavour... i wonder why... and it also have yolk taste.. thou i dun see any round yolk...

one more left! nice!

My Favourite Hongkong Cafe - Kim Gary

My Blog Title says is all! Kim Gary is my favourite Hongkong Cafe in Singapore! Second will be Hongkong Cafe at Novena. Sad thing is its location is quite inconvenient for me to get there. I happen to be at Vivocity yesterday, and the queue for Kim Gary was disgustingly longggg... Probably one have to wait for 45min just to get in... this is crazy and I will never do that!

These were eaten during my Internship period at HP, which means these photos are about 1 month plus old... -_-

Beef Egg Sandwiches - I have a very heavy breakfast - 2 breakfast in fact, so i ordered sandwich for my lunch. I like the way the beef is cooked, still chewy and tender. This is so simply yet so good. But the best Beef Egg sandwich I had was in Jusco, Johor.

E ordered this, I think its Nissin Noodles... veryyyy big and verryy cheap... I tried the soup, and its actually not as spicy as it looks, and its pretty good.

There was some promotion going on during that period, so there was a special menu! The menu namely consist of French Fries or Mushrooms served in different styles. French fries is a no-go for me, so poor E has to eat muchroom with me. lol.

This Mushroom dish consist of (other than mushrooms), silken tofu ( 2 big slabs) with lots of cheeseeeee... yum. This dish turn out as a surprise as we did not expect it to be so nice, after all the ingredients used are normal.

E ordered Yuan-Yang ( a beverage of coffee and milk tea), I don't want consume any calories from drinks, but the server gave us a one more extra... *evil grinz*, which means i got it for free! I had a sip, and the rest was for E!

Low Sugar Mooncake

This mooncake is from my Sister and Bro-in-law... came abit late! Knowing that I am a health freak, they bought low sugar one! Even though it states low in sugar, less sugar simply means that there are more of other "stuffs". Looking at the nutritional value card that comes along with the mooncake, one piece still contains 800Kcal. But taste wise, it taste less oily, you know some mooncakes you can eat them and you can feel the interior of your mouth oily and all...

Tada!

with a sticker stating reduced sugar!

Starved or Stuffed?

Scrawny, skinny, boney --- Achieve this simply by starving yourself and you look like a POW during WWII. Some people go to this extent just to be skinny, but it is unhealthy! Not only is this unhealthy, you have to forgo the goodness of food! restricting yourself to less than 1000Kcal a day... that's sad man...

on the other hand...

Muscular, lean, toned --- Achieve this simply by stuffing yourself with the right nutrition, combined with the right exercise. She can eat more than the normal intake of daily calories, yet staying lean and mean. Occasionaly, she can indulge in something sinful after her workout, this is life!

Mooncake from Marina Mandarin Hotel - Peach Blossoms

White Lotus Mooncake with Double Yolk @ $48, after discount @ $40

I hate the taste of the yolk... yuck! but this was bought for meine Freundin. I never get to taste it, but don't you think it looks so nice? mooncakes always round round to symbolise the moon i presume, but this one is in the shape of a peach. The reason is obvious, cos its produced by Peach Blossoms!

Mooncakes from Goodwood Park Hotel

Goodwood Park Tote Bag...

hidden with 2 boxes of mooncakes - their famous durian mooncake and the assorted snowskin mooncake. The packaging is very nice, 4 big pieces of mooncakes packed in a long box, the box even has a magnetic catch to seal it!

Everything looks so nice... but is it nice to eat?! The answer is NO! Their durian mooncakes used to be durian flavoured snowskin wrapped around real authentic durian. But this year the standard has dropped drastically. Serious! The snowskin is "nua" or soggy, and the durian paste taste more like those long long durian cake which we can buy from M'sia... I dunno if is it that their standard has really dropped, or is it inconsistency in their standard and i happen to kena the lousy batch...

Assorted Snowskin mooncakes from Swissótel The Stamford

Mooncakes are "evil"! close to 1000kcal packed into that small little circular dough. have 2, and that's enough to sustain your energy requirement for the whole day. take 3, and the excess 1000kcal gets stored into that jelly belly of yours! =O (jus exaggerating, but its somewhere along this line)

This is a gift from meine freundin, she knows I have a tastebud for new and exquisite taste!

Tada! Mooncakes from Swissótel @ $48, but she got lobang therefore got them at $38 instead. The flavours are Champagne Truffle & Chocolate Ganache, Strawberry & Dark Chocolate mooncake, Baileys Chocolate and Rum & Raisin.

Champagne Truffle & Chocolate Ganache - Very strong taste of champagne that goes very well with the very sweet chocolate ganache.

Strawberry & Dark Chocolate mooncake - For those who cannot take alcohol, this is a very nice combination. The snow skin taste "strawberrily"!

Baileys Chocolate - The name speaks for itself.

Rum & Raisin - There's actually 2 juicy raisins inside wor!

Charcos the chicky meal @ Amg Mo Kio

and so this is what i went after my gym session!

Charco's! Dun ask me why is it called charcos, i have absolutely no idea... Anyway just a brief introduction to this place. Charco's is similar to Kenny Rogers style, roasted chicken, that come in quarter, half or whole, served alongside with sides. On top of this, they have a larger array in their menu, burgers, ribs and kebabs etc...

2 types of Chicken to choose from, not male or female. Its either Charco's style, or the more expensive version, Portuguese style.

The salad bar is very long la... so long that i cannot take the whole row... Many types of salad to choose from... normally you get to choose 3 sides for a set meal. Just to name a few: Egg salad, Potato salad, Avocado chicken salad, tuna salad, caesar salad, seafood salad, bla bla bla salad and so on...

This was taken during my first trip: Half Chicken (charco's) with Chicken Avocado Salad, Seafood Salad and Caesar Salad. The Chicken is Humongous! It is very tender and juicy inside, and the plus point is that it is roasted! (healthier la) The salad comes in a very generous amount also. My favourite will be the seafood salad, which comes with crabstick meat, quite big and juicy prawns. The Chicken avocado salad has little or no chicken, and i have already feedback to the towkay (boss). The caesar salad is not too bad either.

This is my revisit: Darius ordered this. The burnt-look half chicken is the Portuguese style, and he chose Potato salad, seafood salad and one more unknown salad. D

Damage was $13.50

My order! Half a Chicken, with Tuna salad + Egg Salad + Seafood salad = A Happy me!
The tuna salad has some spices inside, but it has quite alot of tuna, makes a tuna lover like me damn happy la. Can you see the white mass at the right corner??? That's the egg salad, lotsa egg whites... save me time from the peeling of egg shells! not forgetting my favorit Seafood Salad!

I like them all! =)

Damage was $11.50, cos charco's is slightly cheaper

Charco's is located @
Blk 608, Ang Mo Kio Ave 5
