Taipei - Day 2 - Morning

CJ 7 - Good Morning! Follow me for the day 2 of the tour!

Went to Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast - First customer of the day! Their donuts looks more appealing than those sold in Malaysia, very nicely presented.

This device will buzz/vibrates/tremble...kk u get the idea... when your order is ready.

Our Breakfast! Ham &Cheese Bagel and Coffee

After breakfast at XMD, we took a train ride to Gong Guan

Went to their Univerisity - National Taiwan University, but this was not the one we wanted to go... we got lost... and we are still hungry...

saw a queue forming nearby and we decide to join in the 'fun'!

Fried Buns... and Local breakfast... the queue is pretty long so we thought it must be pretty good.

Fried Bun

Open and you see this... wah... This is the BEST fried bun. The inside is cabbage, so crunchy and very juicy. The exterior is fried such that it is pretty hard on the outside but so soft and crunchy inside.. no wonder the queue is so long... I highly recommend this!

Dan Bing - Taiwanese Egg Pancake - it has pork floss and egg wrapped within, and a very special sauce is drizzled over it... This is the BEST i pancake i had throughout my stay in Taipei. Highly recommended too!

and this is how the shop looks like... it is situated near Gong Guan Station.

Does this look familiar? Looks like where the movie "secret" starring Jay Chou was filmed... This is the National Taiwan university. We found it!

Lessons in progress... everything was taught in chinese... -_-''

They have a bakery that sells a lot of bread! if only NUS also have one... Their bread is very similar to Sun Moulin type, probably due to Japanese culture influence.

Look how they stack the bicycles...

Jiantan Station - To take a shuttle bus to Miramar Shopping center for the ferris wheel

There was a autograph session by some Taiwanese star, no idea who thou... but we join in the crowd for fun!

The Ferris Wheel - Got student price for student, not just Taiwanese student but me too! just show them your matriculation card!

The View - that's Taipei 101 in the backdrop.

Went back to Shihlin Market in the afternoon for makan - lunch! Bubble Tea, and this is Mango Pudding Milk Tea... The mango pudding taste really like real mangoes la... damn it...i miss it.

Fried Oyster Omelette - unlike the ones in Singapore, they pour some sauce over it, but i still prefer my mother land's version.

341 Steak, that's the name of the stall, and its very crowded, a lot of locals eating here! crowd = good food?

Nope... we were wrong. I guess the locals are just fascinated with western food. The Black pepper steak is big and the they are very generous with the black pepper sauce, but we can easily tell that the steak is of very low quality, and it does not taste beefy at all.

Taipei - Day 1

This is a continuation from the Cebu Trip. Right after spending 24 hours in Cebu, we took a flight to Taipei! It is really a great experience to experience SG culture, then suddenly Philippines culture, then the next day Taipei culture! Culture shock sia!
Anyway this is our hotel... Rainbow! Its called chang hong, and i always thought its cai hong. We lost the photo of the hotel... the first sight of the hotel... sad. But this is what we got from the web.

To those going to Taipei, this hotel is highly recommended by me! cos it has a damn good location, right in the middle of Xi Men Ding, which is a very popular shopping district, analogous to in the middle of orchard road in Singapore.

We lost all the pictures that we took from 12noon to 5pm.... damn sad la... =(

From 5pm onwards... We went to Shih Lin Night Market.

Shih Lin Night Market as seen from the train station

Shui Jian Bao - Pan fried Bun - i thought this was ok only...not fantastic... but we had a fantastic one later on...

Bubble Tea Shop - Look at the colourful display, and the number of choices... The bubble tea in Taiwan taste really different from those in SG, ours taste more like syrup drink rather than tea.

Sausages

Black Pepper, Traditional, etc...

I dunno what is this... I guess its like pig organs AND STUFFS...

Qing Hua Xia Dan - Frog Lay Eggs - Its is a highly recommended drink by me!

The Drink - It has warm starch/jelly pearls in tea i think, its a cold drink and the pearls are warm... its not bubble tea, i dunno how to describe... just drink it can!? hehe

The Very famous Shih Lin Deep Fried Chicken Chop - It is so big k! and the spices which was sprinkled over it is so nice! omg, i can have one a day!

Something caught my attention - a pancake stall...

Look at how beautiful it is, and the varieties they offer... Yam, Sesame, Chocolate, Red Bean, Green Tea, Cheese...endless!

We settled for a Matcha Azuki Pancake - Green tea and red bean filling pancake - just see how generous they are with the filling! The whole thing is filled with matcha and red bean, omg... i love this! highly recommeded!!!

Walking around Shih Lin Market... shopping and shopping, it is so tired...

So we pamper ourself and sat down at this bubble tea shop and order bubble tea again!

no no, its not bubble tea... we ordered Papaya milk shake! another good one... i suggest that you drink papaya milk shake at least once in taiwan... the milk is Yakult brand one btw, and the taste of the papaya and milk are so distinct!

Saw some kitties... they were facing me initially, and when i flash out my camera, they all face the other side... so i guess they are camera shy...lol

Went back to Xi Men Ding at 12 midnight to go back to hotel, and at this time, all the illegal stalls lined the street... and this stall caught our attention... hmm should i eat? its already midnight...

They sell Sausages with chocolate sauce, wasabi, ma la chili, salad sauce, original, black pepper, coffee, milk, honey etc etc...

we bought a wasabi sausage... look at the amount of wasabi... and yea... i cried on the first bite... lol.

Sushi with thick thick 'slab' of unagi

Best Sushi
The 2 yellow boxes was for my lunch, the 2 on the right are for backup in case i got hungry at night...keke. This is the bestest nicest yummiest sushi. I am thinking which one is my favourite right now, but i cannot think of any, because all of them are so nice. The filling is really a lot, and the main fillings used are Jellyfish, Crab meat and Unagi. I jus discovered something!

Nutritional facts of Unagi...

So much fats... omg. but its nice so it is forgivable. But then again, it contains quite a lot of cholesterol. 200g of Unagi contains 257mg of cholesterol, whereas one egg contains about 180mg. Recommended intake is about 1.5 eggs a day with egg yolk.
