Sweets @ Menotti

Limoncino
This dessert does not makes you feel lazy... It freshens you up! From its name, you can guess that lemon is involved! It is actually a pie with Lemon Custard filling and meringue. Anyway Menotti have a lot of very nice Italian Dessrts! Just to name a few - Riccota, Tiramisu, Soffiato, Strudel etc etc.... but too bad, have to control.... bcos it desserts so only tried this... the rest all looks very pretty... I must try them all!
Any recommendation as to which one to try next?! Let me know!! :)

Seah Deli - The Heavy Weight Champion

Upon recommendation by fellow foodie, FoodfieGymmie decides to embark on a journey to Seah Street Deli to try the so called Best Burger.

There it is, we have reached Seah Street Deli

Some of the items in the menu...
So empty on a evening... the deco resembles very much of BilliBombers...
This is the first page of the menu, not a jukebox! But there is a juke box situated just beside me. When i was seated, the server came over and asked if we want Justin Timberlake. Deep down inside, I wanted FallOut Boy or 周杰倫... haha. So Justin Timberlake starts blaring beside me. At least its still better than those oldies before i came...

Cheers~ Ice Kosong! The Evian Ice Water cost $9... its not those one big tub on water cooler kind, its only 330ml mind you. So... be wary...

quesadilla - with melted cheese in between Masa Dough (I think), with roasted Chicken and sour cream and Guacamole as condiments. The Jalapeno when eaten with the dough adds a special tinge of spiciness to the dough.

Upclose of quesadilla

I must say this dish is very nice. Its chewy, due to the dough and the melted cheese. Its slightly charred, so you get a slightly burnt aroma.

4.5 Tacos / 5.0 Tacos

Texas Burger

An Enormous Burger boasting 12 ounce - 350 grams of beef patty, topped with BBQ sauce. Laid on the patty was a few strips of smoked bacon which i find was too dry and crispy, even bakwa taste better. Then there was sauteed peppers and onions, a hardened layer of melted cheese which was a turn off and of cos veggies! The fries was nice..probably bcos i haven't had any for the past...hmm... few... mm... i dunno.. maybe months?

See... its thick! You can see that the cheese is actualli very dry from here. The Beef Patty is very beefy... but also too dry. The bun is toasted to nice tan.

The Texas burger being striped off its bun...

4.0 Texas / 5.0 Texas

I still prefer the iEat Super Burger at Astons, jucier patty and bacon, with melted cheese not hardened melted cheese. But well... Texas Burger still get a 4.0, not too bad la... still nice.. but just not as nice.

Seah Street Deli is located at Raffles Hotel #01-221 along Beach Road

My Birthday Cakes!

My Birthday Cake made by Dearie~ =)

Pandan Chiffon cake with chocolate hazelnut toppings sprinkled with MnMs and Chocolate rice crisp! I always love pandan chiffon cake! i can finish one whole cake from Bengawan Solo by myself! hehe.. For the first time I got homemade cake for my birthday! SO HAPPY! I love this Pandan Chiffon Cake... so fluffy, so soft! But only today then i learned that theres 300ml of coconut milk into this cake! But no butter needed. This is my sinful indulgence!

My first bite... yummyyyyy... The cakes are finishing very soon.... :

Mango Moose Cake from BreadTalk

Another Birthday Cake! Frankly speaking... I still prefer the Pandan Chiffon than this cake! But since this is a gift... then i shall say that i like this cake too! haha. I like the strawberries and the mangoes... the cake was alright la... breadtalk cake and bread cmi.

Chocolates madness from the land of Kangaroos and Joeys!

Many many chocolates!!!
Many many so many chocolates from Australia.. How can i not become tubby and chubby... arghh... haha. More Gym and HIIT with little blacky Chiehui!!! Anyway the key point is eat in moderation.

Rocky Road

This is my favourite! Marshmallow Center, coated with a thick very thick layer of chocolatey chocolate and sprinkled with Peanuts! How sinful? Damn sinful. Just 50g of it contains like 20g sugar and 15g fats.

Chocolate HoneyComb

Taste like the chocolate with the golden wrapper... forget the name... Its cubes of honeycomb dipped into molten chocolate, then hardened - Just like how investment casting is done, soak the wax into slurry etc.

Richfield 70% Cocoa

Dark Chocolates.. I love Darks! They are lower in fats content than milk chocolates as cocoa itself doesnt contain much fats... its the cocoa butter and the milk! And a small little piece of dark chocolates (70% or more) contains enough flavonoids which are known for their anti-oxidants activity.

Fine Milk chocolate

Nice to eat... with no apparent benefits except adding inches to your waistline so that your pants become more fitting.

Caramel Fudge

I never eat this before and i I havent tried it... Fudgey things should be nice...

Brown and Yellow JI DAN GAO!

Brown n Yellow
Today i learnt something. Theres brown steamed egg cake! Brown means its made with brown sugar... yellow = white sugar! Everyday is a learning day! Crazy over Ji dan gao for now! All because of that stupid micron trip!

Grocery Shopping!

Whole Wheat Biscuit
Always hungry during lectures in the afternoon, so instead of sinking my teeth into those pastries which many people buy during the break. So went grocery shopping to buy some food, and these are some of it!
I bought this to bring to lectures to pamper my tummy.... lol. Anyway those pastries in the cafe soaks the brown paper "wet" with oil, i seriously don't know how some people can eat them without feeling urghh.... puky.
For those who doesn't like wheat and tasteless stuffs.... stay away from this healthy snack. It takes me time to slowly change my taste buds to be able to appreciate these "snacks". Anyway its crunchy, just imagine its potato chips lor!

Nutritional Info!

See how wonderful this snack is! In 100g, theres 11.2g of protein. 67.6g of carbs, although high in carbs, its low in sugar, only 4.7g are sugar... so i guess the rest are complex carbos which keeps u full all day long as they are slowly digested so no insulin spike to make u fatty bombom. Fats is 2.7g, so lowww.... yet saturated fats is only 0.6g... the rest should be mono or poly... ok la. So this is a wonderful snack to eat when your mouth is itching k!

The new Strawberry HL Milk

Lunch was at Mos Burger on my grocery day... And ordered only teriyaki chicken burger without mayonaise, and no fries. Took a cup from the staff and happily im drinking my HL Strawberry milk with my burger! First sip was nice... but after awhile i find it too fake... but nevertheless, good attempt by marigold... for their "creativity". :)

Dian Xiao Er aka 店小二

Oppss... she thought im taking a photo of her... anyway... welcome to "Dian Xiao Er"

The Dian Xiao Er "Secret Manual Menu"

Herbal Roast Duck

The Pride of this restaurant. You can choose from 3 different herbal duck, and this was roasted with "Dang Gui". Not too sure whats the health benefits... but what matters is the duck is good la, which in fact is really good! Normally i will avoid the duck skin, but this time round i gave in to temptation and ate a couple. The skin is thin and very crisp, and the meat is well flavoured with the herbs, a must try dish at this place. The herbal sauce at the bottom is so yummy when drizzled over rice... I will give it a...

"Ma Po Tofu"

It was alright... edible...can do... so so... I should have ordered the "House Special Xiao Er Tofu" - Chef''s recommendation. This Ma po taste just like any out there in Zi Char stall... difference lies in the price only... Ma po... you deserve a...

2.5 Stinky Tofu / 5.0 Stinky Tofu

Fried Rice with Seafood and XO sauce

Usually high end fried rice are those where each grain of rice is wrapped with a layer of egg just like those in Din Tai Fung... but not this one... This plate of fried rice is cooked just the way we do it at home... anyhow anyhow cook... thats the feel i get when i saw it. Its just a plate of mess.. with seafood and beansprouts mixed here and there. But though it doesn't look appealing, i must say that the taste is pretty unique... and every bite has a little crunch from the bean sprout... can try...

Deep Fried Baby Kai Lan with meat floss???

We ordered Baby Kai Lan, but we were served Asparagus instead... or is asparagus in china chinese Baby KaiLan... someone enlighten me pls!! Anyway, instead of asking them why its not baby kailan, we go ahead with this "kailan" since we love asparagus but was not shown in the "Secret Menu" if im right. anyway this is definitely not a healthy dish, because those dark dark greeny seawood that you see in the picture are deep fried till crispy and mixed with chicken floss... well off-track a bit... chicken floss is low in fats for those who doesn't know... same goes to pork floss... yet they are high protein...

3.5 kailan / 5.0 kailan

Some Sesame Sauce Chicken dish

I was expecting something not sooo deep fried... but ahh..its deep fried. If you like fried stuffs.. probably you will like this... but not me. I tried one, its not bad... its really well fried, very crispy outside and tender inside. Really makes me wonder how they managed to make the skins of the Chicken and Duck so crispy, yet at the same time, keeping the interior tender and succulent. Give is some plus points for the good sauce.

3.5 Chicks / 5.0 Chicks

Old Style Steamed Fish Slice

I like Fish + if its steamed, i like it even more... If the sauce is light... i like even more more. Many points to this dish. They are very generous with the amount of fish slices... and each cut is thick and fresh, with the aroma of mushroom soaked into it. Fish lovers... you know what to order when you are here...

The Famous NUS "Uncle Soup"

The reason why i say its famous is because the queue is so damn long during lunch hour in Engin Canteen... And its not bad la... for canteen food its considered cheap and good. there was once i queued ur Thrice for this! First time... i queued up... but the Q was jus too long.. and when i get nearer, i realised i ended up at the sucky jap stall... so i re-q... 2nd time... ended up at the sucky stall again... and finally third time... i managed to get it! grrr...
The pride of engin canteen!
Tom Yam Seafood Soup @ $2.50

Bak Kut Teh @ $3.00
p/s: soup does not comes along with seaweed... it was "DIY"...

Ben n Jerry n Terry!

Chubby Hubby & New York Super Fudge Chunk
Sinful... sure they are! Yummilicious... definitely... but eat in moderation and exercise them off lor!
Chubby Hubby is better then new york fudge!
Chubby Hubby contains: Fudge-Covered Peanut Butter-Filled Pretzels in Vanilla Malt Ice Cream Rippled with Fudge & Peanut Butter!
I love those peanut butter filled pretzels! I will always use my spoon and dig out the pretzels.. leaving the ice cream behind... haha! I must emphasize again... the pretzels are peanut butter filled!!
New York Super Fudge Chunk contains: Chocolate Ice Cream with White & Dark Fudge Chunks, Pecans, Walnuts, & Fudge-Covered Almonds.
Just like the chubby hubby, i leave the ice cream behind and dig out the white and dark fudge chunks... lol.
Yum yum.. many more good days to go... :)

60 min running VS 10min Sprint

I only knew about this recently, and i thought its a good training program which i should share with everyone.

High Intensive Interval Training (HIIT) is the way to go if reducing bodyfats is your goal. No more hours and hours on the boring threadmill or bicycle machine to burn those calories off... but only to load them back later on. Why not Sprint for 10 minutes, and let your body automatically burn even more calories for the rest of the day even when you are watching TV.

To put in simple terms, HIIT means training at very high intensity at intervals - Sprint for 20 seconds and jog for 1min, and perform this in sets... For beginners, you can add in walking for maybe 30 seconds after jogging then continue with the sprint again.

I came across some readings which explains what exactly is HIIT , and what are the benefits of HIIT as compared to hours of cardio.

Sakae Sushi @ Wheelock

After being so stressed with work work and more work... always eating school food day in and out... finally managed to squeeze some time out to eat out. And the eating out place this time was Sakae Sushi!

Probably I am just being paranoid...or maybe im not... maybe you guys think likewise... i feel that the Sushi and the rest of the dishes taste better at the Wheelock outlet than other outlets... Some other outlets, their sushi were kinda warm, some also don't serve all the dishes. Anyway heres what i ate! :) oh ya... everything was snapped using my v3xx... and it kinda suck in dim lights... so the pictures doesn't look as appetizing.

Tamago Nigiri
This is my favourite! The moment i sat down, saw it moving on the conveyor, immediately i grabbed it already! haha.... But actually its quite easy to make, you can buy the tamago at carrefour, and the sushi just make your own
Spicy Salmon and Unagi Temaki
I always like handroll because of that hugh piece of seaweed wrapping up everything.
Cha Soba
Green Tea buckwheat noodle is a must for me! Served cold giving you that refreshing feel... Anyway it is very high in protein.
Enoki Niku Maki
Golden Shrooms wrapped in meat and drizzled with terriyaki sauce. The sauce is too overwhelming and too sweet due to the generous amount. You got to dumped the whole thing into your mouth in one go because the whole thing is just too tough to bite into half...

Chicken Miso Nabe

The miso paste all sinks to the bottom so remember to stir it thoroughly every now and then. They should add more fishcake in the miso soup...

Soft Shell Crab Crepe Premium Maki

Soft Shell Crab encased in Tau Pok Skin and omelette skin, with mayonaise and cucumber within. I like the Tau Pok and the Omelette... softshell crap was just being extra...

Japanese Gyoza

Its just gyoza... nothing spectacuar about it.

Fried Tofu

Whenever i go to Jap restaurant, Tofu is a must also. soooo mouth watering and smooth...

and many other sushi which did not get their chance to be featured due to my hungry tummy, chomping them down before they can get their photoshoot.

Total Damage for the dinner.... Everything was wiped out clean... *Burpz*

鸡蛋糕 (Steamed Egg Cake)

鸡蛋糕 (Steamed Egg Cake)
My childhood comfort food and all my fond memories when i was still young... It had been yearsss... 9 years 10 years...? since i last ate it... almost totally forgot about this cake until recently when i was passing by a traditional confectionary. Only then did i realised how much i missed those old school cake and pastries.

What i like best about Steamed Egg Cake is that its so soft and the eggy-taste! Furthermore its steamed, meaning no butter used... so basically its just eggs and flour and sugar! Its a healthier choice compared to other cakes but those flour and sugar are just empty calories... But well... its comfort food for me :)

FATS!!! The Angel and the Devil

The fact is that we all need fats. Limit, but do not cut out high fat foods: Dietary fat can be stored if taken in excess, however, some fat intake must be maintained to prevent the body from storing every bit of fat it does get. And we should keep some fats in our "nondiet", as it helps get your body into a "fat burning mode"., but keep it "low to moderate fat" not "no fat".

However, when consumed in excess amount, fats contribute to weight gain, heart disease and certain types of cancer. Fats are not created equal. Some fats promote our health positively while some increase our risks of heart disease.
"The key is to replace bad fats with good fats in our diet."
When I say fat intake must be maintained, what I mean is "good" fats such as those from fish, flax oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, olive oil, peanut oil and nuts, and most importantly, the key point is in moderation. If your intake of these healthy fats contribute to an excess of calories intake per day... then that's not very wise.
