Tasmania

It is really beautiful.

The neverending coastlines. The vast lands. The gazing animals in the wild. The beautiful azure blue skies. The horizon. The varying colours of the skies. The starry starry skies.

Even though the time spent on the roads have caused much drudgery (well, one could sleep, that's a consolation. Better be grateful for blissful sleep when one has the chance before mayhem starts next year), it has been a great trip.. despite sniffing, dripping tap and coughing.

Would I play harder if I were less sickly? Maybe? Maybe not? hahah. But at least I had great travel mate -- one whom we had similar values towards food and options.
Though I would say, I hermited myself just to my travel mate... I realized I consciously (not even subconsciously) refrain from making small talks or extending friendlies to other group mates -- it's only 5 days, what are the chances of encountering them again? I know that's a wrong mindset to have.. but I am too cumbered with my illness to want to bother with other things. I just want to keep warm, get better, sleep/recuperate/hibernate more.. and take more photos.

Being on a few day trips alone.. it takes effort for me, an introvert, to get into wanting to know people, just for that one day. Yes, no doubt you can learn so much more from other people who have different cultures and learn new things. But.. that empty feeling at the end of it all -- they aren't here to stay. Come and bye relationships seemed so normal nowadays, is it wrong to want something more lasting?

Anyway, I digressed.



Tasmania is wonderful.. the climate, the views.. it's really worth the trip.
I would recommend it and Kangaroo Island -- to visit when you are still young.

A few things off my unofficial bucket list -- visiting Tasmania, Cradle Mountain, watching sunrise at the sea, starry skies, white peacock, watching penguins come onshore (which I never did at Melbourne cos I don't intend to go Phillips Island or St Kilda's penguin place -- not St Kilda itself).
Other things off my unofficial bucket list from Adelaide and Sydney trips -- feeding and touching koalas, kangaroos, wombats, albino kangaroo, kangaroo with joey, Sydney Opera House (and set foot into it for a concert no less!), Sydney Harbour Bridge, Blue Mountains, Jenolan Caves.
Or even in Melbourne itself -- wine tasting at Yarra Valley and Morington Peninsula, Great Ocean Road, Grampians.


So... the question is: Did Tasmania live up to my expectations after having had set my sights on it since 10 years ago? Partly yes and no. Yes - because I finally stepped foot into this place! No - because the memory is blurry... did I realize what I set out to do? Probably not I guess.

And...

the "magic" have slightly disappeared after having seen so many mountains, waterfalls, coastlines, sea, rivers, animals etc prior to my Tasmania trip.. because they all start to look the same after over-exposure and you become desensitize to them (hahah ikr)... or that you start comparing the relative beauty of different rainfalls (Grampians' Mackenzie Falls > Tasmania's Russell or Nelson Falls)... it's still a trip to remember. :)))))



一个月的旅行……如此千载难逢的放纵，且珍惜。

As luck has it....

.... I always have the affinity of sitting on the wrong side of the buses -- that is without scenery, sun in the face etc. Thx. 😒
