I think the last I ever worked for almost everyday till I am shooed
out of The Workplace was during my first year (newbie and trying to
grasp so many things).
Just these 4 weeks, there are 2 weeks where I knocked off at 6.30pm.
This is just plain fatigue.
One
example is where we stayed back so many days just to setup the venue
for a prize presentation and preparing to ensure all names are labelled
etc. That took really lots of my time. But it's worth it. All done in
proper planning and execution.
And back to what I was saying, work just doesn't end there and there at 6.45pm after I stepped out of The Workplace.
Other
unfinished and dire work continues AT HOME till 11+. Slept at 12 and
the day starts again at 5.30am. And the cycle repeats.
As usual, dragged my heavy self out of The Workplace today.. and walked past a store playing一场游戏一场梦。
Never had such a sad song, and never had 王杰's voice had such great appeal.
I felt so soothed immediately. #comfortsongs #loopingnow
It's
been a while since I had been listening to pop music / canto pop / tw
pop / cn pop / SID / updating myself with recent songs... since 3 years
ago. Not that I am not trendy.. but I guess a part of it gotta do with
religion. :) I do listen to them, AND SING ALONG, when my Work is
starting after a few weeks of vacation. haha. But that's it.. not for
enjoyment/relaxation, but necessity's sake.
That song
just seemed to warm me up (which got me into an internal KTV mode), even
though at the back of my head, I know I've gotta head back to The
Workplace on a Saturday.. for a work that has no seemed end. (It's not
like those activities where you KNOW the end time, that feels more
reassuring, but this particular work, doesn't have. 5pm is the max we
could go to... let's not go there huh..)
Anyways..
I am not against nor unwilling
to put in that extra effort for Work.. it's just whether is it worth it
/ is it legitimate / is it something that calls for it. If it were the
young ones who asked me for extra assistance on a Saturday or even come
earlier every morning, bring it on! I am more than willing to put in
that extra time and effort and go the extra mile.
Tomorrow's work is TOTALLY UNJUSTIFIED AND UNCALLED FOR. IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. IT'S
NOT EVEN THE
ACTUAL THING AND WE ARE SACRIFICING SO MUCH MANPOWER AND MAN HOURS ALREADY.
anyways. Gotta turn in because it's going to be a looooonnnggg day tomorrow.
AND FOR THE COMING WEEKS TOO COS WE ARE GONNA EXECUTE THIS PROJECT.
update 18 April 2016
It
went ok (much to my relief) but the lag time was suuupppppper BAD due
to connections. And BAD is merely an understatement. Most couldn't
complete the exercise, but hey, the silver lining is, the project
managed to proceed! *woohoo
The response time is really detrimental to the performance and smooth running of the entire project.
Well, lag time is expected working on wireless. BUT lag time is just as bad working on wired.
I
can't foresee how this entire project will be rolled out. Currently the
present/existing project takes about 15 minutes per person.. With all
the lagging response time for the new initiative for this project, 25
minutes per person is an understatement (once again). My goodness. So
does that equates to additional 2 hours of OT above what we had done
before for the previous years??? Worse still -- 3hours, if it takes 35
minutes for just one person???
update: 23 April 2016
Again, I stress that
I am not against nor unwilling
to put in that extra effort for Work.. it's just whether is it worth it
/ is it legitimate / is it something that calls for it.
This
is just making people's life tough for complicating
something that could be done simply and efficiently and time-saving with
just pen and paper. Call me anti-tech, stuck-in-the-mud, inflexible,
stubborn whatsoever. Technology is here to help, not to hinder
processes, not to be a supreme time-waster or create unnecessary
paperwork or extra supercilious work (
just because we looked more savvy by hopping onto the bandwagon).
It's the content that
goes into the in-stuff (not merely just providing in-stuff for the sake
of doing so) and character building that matters.
Sometimes, at the end of the day, the not-so-in-stuff (eg F2F) might just work even better.
