Love-hate relationship with doing backups for all sorts of documents.
LOVE
1. Yes, for future reference
2. For the "heng ah!" moments
3. To go through days with peace at heart
4. Accessible anywhere, anytime as long as you have a ready internet connection (Drive / Cloud)
HATE
1. It always take up a huge part of my time (minimally 2+ hours per backup)
2. Decisions, decisions, decisions -- keeping the really valuable
3. See pt 1
4. Got so suay my original will be corrupted / misplaced / hdd failure?
5. See pt 1 again
6. eh, tell me when would I ever need to review the stored photos?
7. See pt 1 once again
Probably that's the reason why I had stopped taking photos obsessively. (Unless it's an event of significance; such as family members' weddings)
It bore no significance if all the backup does is to stay tucked in this little hardware somewhere, for whoever-knows-what-the-reason-is.
Perhaps I should just go back to film (as if it is readily available now) where every shot is taken painstakingly in view of the limited storage space (both literally and figuratively) and with utmost care, instead of spamming photos.
Besides these hardware form of backup, there's those Drive / Cloud backups.. AGAIN, it's accumulating so much rubbish. Imagine some photos you took are simply for reference (say 1 hour), and it's added to backup for nothing! Then what if one day the Cloud / Drive just decided to disintegrate... so... so much for backing up there? How long are you gonna take to migrate all those items?
Okay, oops I did it again. That sounds like the selective anti-tech me speaking once more. hurhurhur.
