I never cease to dislike sg trains after so many years.

I'll usually avoid train carriages with bulky baby prams (brawling babies in arms are fine, but no, a definite NO to baby prams), mischievous kids who don't know how to keep still, rowdy teens (almost had enough of them daily) and rude people talking loudly on phones.

In fact if there's space for movement, I'll usually change carriage without hesitation (unless I'm blessed with a seat especially on long journeys in the train).

Yeah.. another grousing.. I just dislike sg trains a lot.

语言文字

有时候，不禁反省，我们的用词的确需要修饰一番。即使是非常简单的几个词语，用词妥不妥当就足以显示那个人的身份、来历。
今天中午与一间供应商的两名职员见面，以便多了解他们提供的课程配套。
谈着谈着，突然说到了他们曾举办的一个课程"has ended"。

A：哦，那个课程已经…完了。
B：（立刻补充）是的，结束了。



而这两个人的差异就是，A是新加坡人，B是道道地地以华语为第一语言的华人。
（而且，A是与我们直接接洽的人，之前都通过电邮以英语沟通。今天看似他请来B助阵，哈哈！）

我也不知道为何今天会那么变态似的抓住他的语病。哈哈。或许因为看见他努力挣扎尝试讲比较纯正的华语，所以也就多留意几分，哈哈。

而今天这个简单的事件也这让我想起香港人也颇注重“完”这个用词。
例如用餐之后，他们不会说“食完”，他们比较喜欢说“食曬”，因为“完了”的含义比较消极。

 看来，我也得继续努力好好使自己的用词精准一些~~~ :)

One other thing I need to make clear here is that this former classmate was a lousy storyteller. God might have generously doled out other attributes to the guy, but the ability to relate a story wasn't one of them. (Not that the storyteller's romantic art serves any real purpose in life) So as he related his story, I could barely stifle a yawn. He'd get off track, go around in circles, take forever to remember some of the facts. He'd take a fragment of his story in his hand, frown at it for a while, and once he was convinced he had it right he'd line his facts up one by one on the table. But often this order was wrong. So as a novelist -- a story specialist, if you will -- I've rearranged these fragments, carefully gluing them together to form what I hope is a coherent narrative.

I think I'm kind of slightly overwhelmed this year. No idea why, but yeah, I'm.

I've never been so messy, where all my thoughts and big ideas sprung out but never seemed to conglomerate, and put into action. And little pieces of notes with running thoughts penned down are perpetually missing.

Seriously, I wonder what's wrong.

Please transport my missing thoughts and souls from wherever it's been left at!

Happy Labour(ing) Day!

When I was a primary, secondary and pre-tertiary student, I LOVE holidays because I get to miss a day of school and get another day to sleep in really late.
When I was a tertiary student, I HATE holidays because the makeup lectures always fall on suxy hours of the day (read: 6.30pm or later) and the lecturer usually ends so much earlier than the stipulated time. What's the point of makeup lecture?!?! They might as well make it into e-learning to save themselves the hassle too.
Now that I am finally a working adult, I fell in LOVE with holidays again because it's a legitimate day off and another day to sleep in slightly later. It's also a bonus on Labour Day, cos it's another Labouring Day at home to complete the stacks of unfinished work. Oh wellZ.
But no, I'm not grumbling. I fully appreciate the presence of such a wonderful day.
