TOAD-ily SPRING!

It’s finally S*P*R*I*N*G – traditionally, the season for chirping birds, budding blossoms and new life! And hopefully, it’s time for at least a bit of a return to some of the things we’ve all missed over the past 12 months. I don’t have much of a green thumb so there aren’t many budding blossoms in my yard. And the branches on our tall oak trees begin far too high to hear birds chirping in them very often. However, one sign of spring that we do see in the yard pretty regularly are the ๐Ÿธfrogs and toads๐Ÿธ that emerge and begin to spawn following hibernation.

Although I made these absolutely silly copper enamel frogs at the beginning of the year, I didn’t have a plan as what to do with them. But what better time to create a froggy design than the onset of Spring? Initially I was going to play up the sunflower๐ŸŒป idea and add bright yellow lampwork. But while I was looking for just the right beads, I stumbled on these chunky black and white striped tubes that complemented the stripes on the frog’s front legs perfectly.

I wanted to incorporate an Artisan component and thought the polka dots on the rear legs was the perfect inspiration. It didn’t take very long to decide on fun lampwork saucers by Ann Spirek-Wierbinski ….almost done. Just a few Czech glass spacers, and some crazy daisy spacers and wallah! Super crazy, one-of-a-kind sunflower frogs – TOAD-ily SPRING!

I would love to know your thoughts – too crazy? Too big?

These earrings will appear later today in my etsy shop, TwinklingOfAnEye

You can find other earrings on my fb page.

Thanks for spending a part of your day with me.๐ŸŒปSee you in a few weeks!

Earring Sampler ๐Ÿ’—

Hi, everyone!  I'm sorry it's been so long since I wrote a post here, and I'm glad to be back.  I haven't been making much jewelry lately, but today I'd like to share a few pairs of earrings that I have made over the last while.  ๐Ÿ’—

The whimsical earrings below have so much going on with texture and shape
that I thought keeping them monochromatic would work well.  The bumpy blue-green
lampwork beads are by Beth Mellor of BeebooThe fun porcelain hearts are by the
wonderful Judie Mountain.  With sterling beads and Two Trees sterling ear wires.

These little (about 1-7/8" long) chainmaille earrings are woven in the classic
barrel weave, are made of small niobium rings in a subtle rainbow of colors,
and are as lightweight as they come.

I think these charms might be some of the most colorfully vibrant that Kristi Bowman has ever made--so
I decided to take them just a little over the top.  I'm not sure it worked, but it was fun.
With Kristi and Beth Mellor.

These earrings are so much whimsical fun, with Patty Lakinsmith's yellow-and-orange disc beads,
the short stack of blue and green Czech discs, tiny pops of red glass beads, and playful and
colorful enameled charms by Marlene Kazor Quigley of MarkazoArt

Well, I think that's enough from me for now!  I hope you're all well and happy and enjoying the holiday season.  ๐Ÿ’—

xoxo

Orange Julius

Years ago, one of my favorite treats when I went to a shopping mall was an Orange Julius. My other favorite was frozen yogurt, but I haven't made those earrings yet. :) These gorgeous orange polymer clay donuts (I must be hungry because I'm starting to see a theme here) were made by Kristi Bowman. I have added a cascade of brightly colored ceramic and glass with little bits of copper in this whimsical design.
