Blueberry Blues Gray Blue White Color Scheme

This morning I was on a popular social media site that regularly posts ads off to the right. Of course they catch your eye and then you go back to doing what ever you were doing... but sometimes they really get your attention. Like today.

It wasn't so much the cute sweater I noticed but the colors. Grey, dark cool blue and white. Really caught my eye and had me instantly thinking about how I can translate this to jewelry.
What beads do I have?

I am imagining a *collection* of jewelry at this point...

My next action was to head over to Pinterst to find inspiration. And inspiration I did find. I wont re-post here so as to not violate any copyright laws. If you'd like to see some of the inspiration seeds I found, please check it out! https://www.pinterest.com/artsouljewelry/color/
What I decided upon were some of my handmade ceramic beads with a lovely gray glaze, blue-gray coral, cool blue Czech glass, fine silver nugget charms, and white moonstone.

The ear wires are made to match with super huge balled and hammered ends. Honestly, I struggled with these a while. But finally, finally was able to get them to hold.

Look for these with my next shop update, Tuesday December 1st
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Cherry Ice Earrings By Cindys Art and Soul Jewelry

These earrings are a riff on another set I did a while back.
Almost a year ago exactly!
My most popular and most pinned post to date!

I mentioned in that post that I really loved how they came out.
I still get inspired every time I see them.

The inspiration finally took over and this is what happened...
Cherry Ice Earrings by Cindy's Art and Soul
I've been working with ceramics for a little over a year now and I thrilled to be able to make beads again. And also to be able to make beads that I can use in my jewelry work. And maybe even to inspire others jewelry as well. I have to admit it's a real thrill for me to be able to add something to another artists creative endeavor.

 These earrings feature:

natural, found sea glass
I love how this glass still has a bit of the original pressed lines.
ceramic beads
handmade from white stoneware clay finished with a bright red glaze.
 hand forged fine silver hoops
hand stamped with tiny spiral images
and tiny micro faceted moonstones

Great for a pop of color this summer!
Imagine a white linen top and x-faded blue jeans.
OR maybe
white cotton draw string pants -
you know, the kind with big flowy
(yes I made that word up)
legs and a red tank...

Available at Art and Soul Jewelry

Peace & blessings~

Throwback Thursday - Winged!

Hi all...today's post is an homage to Facebook's Throwback Thursday!  I got a little behind and forgot that I agreed to fill in today, but thought this would be a fun thing to do.

These are earrings I made back in 2011...I had taken an online class with Stephanie Lee who taught me how to cover a copper base with molten solder, then embed brass filigree into it.   This technique really opened up a world of design possibilities to me and I use it a lot in my work today.

These are embellished with pretty faceted peach moonstone briolettes and my hand wrought sterling earwires to complete the airy, fairy look!

Like most of my work, I tend to make things that can be worn with my staple day to day outfit...jeans & boots.  I envision these with a flowy white shirt as well!

They are available in my shop...

Winter White Frost

Hoarfrost in Northern Canada by Nathalie Lesage
Hoarfrost in Northern Canada by Nathalie Lesage
A couple of weeks ago, as my husband and I ventured out to Alberta to run errands in a larger city center before Christmas, I was delighted to see Hoarfrost or White Frost in the trees lining the road.

It was a little bit eery and magical at the same time, and I took lots of pictures for inspiration :)

And these are the Winter White Frost Earrings I've designed...

White Frost has such a cool look, with its white needles and lines, I wanted to recreate that texture and feel in the Sterling Silver sheet metal that I've cut and used in this design.

Using a couple of different hammers, I've manually created this texture which reminds me of the frost, and I've used an antique finish to bring out the details.

These earrings feature a gorgeous chunky pair  of faceted "blue flash" Rainbow Moonstones, which capture the eery bluish light of the frost in the early morning light... it's a bit difficult to capture on camera, but you can see some of that blue flash in this image:

These are a really gorgeous pair of Moonstones, loaded with beautiful feminine positive energy...

I have not yet listed these on my website, as I'm taking a bit of time off for the holidays, but you will soon be able to purchase them on my website: Nathalie Lesage Jewelry.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year...
May all your wishes come true in 2015!!

Stacked

It seems so simple - making a stack of something. We make piles and stacks of things all the time in our everyday lives - bills, shoes, sandwiches, dishes, folded clothes, the list goes on. Yawn. Boring.

Now talk about making jewelry stacks and you've got my attention. I've been loving stacked earrings lately, both vertical and front-facing. It's an exercise in graduated size, texture, color, and medium. I love to mix ceramics, glass, stone, textiles, shells...you name it.

Here's an sweet little pair I listed last week that plays with all of these different elements. Two reptilian ceramic discs from Petra at ScorchedEarthonEtsy serve as the base, and I've layered them with art nouveau steel PMC washers from Kiyoi Design as well as crusty little shards of violet Roman glass and flashy raw moonstone nuggets.

I love how the garish chartreuse olive yellow-green of the ceramic base contrasts with the eggplant purple of the Roman glass and the ultraviolet flashes in the moonstones. Olive and violet - a weird color combo I've been stuck on lately.

OK girls, now get stackin'!

Happy Wednesday :)

The Other 1%

We all have them squirreled away in our wardrobes and jewelry boxes, don't we? That hard-edged bracelet or scissored dress or tall boots that just make us feel take-on-the-world confident. I'm 99% a quiet, sensitive, artsy type, but every now and then I enjoy flaunting my 1% bad*ss.

These earrings have all the oil-slicked iridescent flashy black magic that you could ever want. Raku ceramic discs from Urban Raku, crusty little shards of gray ancient Roman glass, plus two insanely flashy electric blue nuggets of white moonstone. Stacked and wrapped.

Bring it :)
