Week 30 Elk Hunt
It's that time of year again!! The Elk hunt. :) It's crazy how fast this comes around each year. :) It seems like our trip gets shorter and shorter. Back in the day, we would come camping for 10+ days. It seems like now we can only come for weekends at a time. I think with kids in school, it makes it harder to miss things at home. We did get to go up for a long weekend on the 17th, we stayed until Monday. Then the second weekend we left on Thursday so that was good. :)
Everyone had such a great time on this trip. Bob really liked hunting with his family. He hit an elk on opening morning, but hit it in the shoulder so the arrow didn't go in very far.... the elk got away. He didn't end up getting an elk this year, but we were both ok with that since we still have a freezer full of elk burger already. :) Bob also enjoyed his afternoon naps. :) I had to get a picture because it is VERY MUCH a part of the elk hunt. :)
I loved that Bob took the kids hunting with him on the evening hunts. They loved it and I loved it. One evening he took all three so me and the girls played cards in the quiet! :) It was sooo nice. :) The kids spent most of their days outside. Kason and Brooklyn loved riding the wheeler. We bought them riding helmets the second weekend so they were safer. :) They also went for a horse ride and played baseball and Frisbee. :) It was such a great trip! I really look forward to the next one! :)
Week 29 First Days
August 15th, 2012
Today was Brooklyn’s first day of 3rd grade. Holy Moly I can’t believe she is already a 3rd grader! We were running behind this morning (surprise) so I only had a few minutes to take a picture of her by the Sandstone Raptors rock. I only had my 50mm lens on my camera too so I wasn’t even able to get the whole rock! :) Lol. Oh well. Her picture is still cute. :)
When we got to her class, the teachers were outside showing the kids where to line up. She got in the back of the line and waited to go into class. Mrs. Andrews (her teacher) was nice and let me go in to take a couple pictures of her in her seat. :) I snapped a few pictures of Kamri too because Brookyn is so excited about having Kamri in her class. They are best friends. :)
When school got over, I was sitting here waiting to pick her up from the bus when I got a phone call. I guess we didn’t communicate very well about the bus ride home.... she was still at the school. I left right away to go get her. She was sad when I picked her up but got happy by the time we were home. :)
August 21st, 2012
Today was Kason’s first day of Kindergarten! He had to wait almost a whole week after Brooklyn to go to school. :) We got to school a little early so I took a picture of him by the Sandstone Raptors rock. :) He looks so grown up. After our picture we saw Susan, Weston and Breckon walking to class so we joined up with them to walk. Kason was glad to see Westy. They are “best buds” so it was nice they had each other on this first day of school. :)
When we got over to the classrooms, I asked his teacher if I could get a picture of him at his desk. She was super nice and let us in. I snapped a few quick pictures of him and Mrs. Fackler. :) When I got done the bell rang so he rent right outside to line up. I could tell he was nervous. He kept a smile on his face though.... it was just the look in his eyes and the little quiver in his smile. I knew he would be fine though. He’s tough and he’s been excited for school to start. :) When I picked him up he was standing outside with a cute little hat and a great big smile! He loved his first day of Kindergarten! :)
Week 26 Anniversary
I can't believe that Bob and I have been married for 10 years already! It's crazy how fast time flies by when you have so much going on. :) We are raising 3 beautiful kids and Bob is the new Parts Manager at Ford. :) A lot has changed these past 10 years. :) Right now Brooklyn is 8, Kason is 6 and Aiden is 3. They keep us pretty busy and we love it! :)
For our anniversary, we decided to take a weekend and get away together. Because we are all going to Hawaii in Feb., we decided to just go to Vegas. The Worldmark was open so it was a cheap trip. :)
We left on Friday and went to P.F. Changs for dinner right when we got into town. The manager gave us free dessert for our anniversary! :) They wrote on the plate, "Here's 2 10 more years!" :) So cute and so delicious! :) After dinner, we headed to the Worldmark to check-in.
On Saturday, we laid out by the lazy river and relaxed. It was so nice! Then we got ready and headed down to the strip. We went to the Apple Store and bought new iPhone and iPod cases for all 5 of us, then found some cute sunglasses for the kids. :) Isn't that the way it is... on our anniversary trip we are buying for the kids. :) Lol. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory in Caesars then went to the Venetian to see Phantom. It was good, but not as good as the last time I saw it in 2010.
On Sunday we ate leftover's in the room for lunch, then picked up some cheesecake before heading home to see the kids. :)
It has been an amazing 10 years! I love you honey! :)
Week 24 Bryce Canyon
This weekend was the Bryce Canyon Half Marathon. Bob had signed up a while ago and was really excited about running it. He roped Susan into running it too so we all went together and camped. Saturday morning it rained on the runners but Bob still had an AMAZING time... 1 hour 28 minutes. We’re all so proud of him!
After the run, we went to a wildlife museum and then went hiking to a waterfall. The kids loved the museum. It had so many animals (taxidermy) that the kids had never seen before. :) The waterfall hike was awesome too! We hiked up a huge hill (pictured above) then went through the hole for an adventure down the back side! :)
On Sunday, we went sight-seeing a little more before we headed home. :) The run was awesome, the rain was refreshing (especially having a break from the heat) and all together it was one fun trip! :) We will be going back next year for sure. The kids want to run the 5k... and I might, MIGHT run it too. :)
