Nelson Family Picture

At Bobbies open house we had a family picture taken by Bobbie's new step daughter in law. Not all the husbands were there so we just took it of us.

Office View

Doug has a very nice office overlooking our back  yard that he gets to work in everyday. Those are the San Tan Mountains. I think we can get use to this!

First Shave

The time has come... Derrik needed to shave. He did a pretty good job too!

Slade Easter 2011

Our first family get together in the house was a success!

We had plenty of room for everyone and the weather was perfect.

Uncle Denton got a bouncy slide for the kids to play on and they had a blast.
They they hunted for eggs. Grandad Slade had lots of fun hiding them for the kids.

We had a really good time "shooting the bull" as we say.

After the kids hunt we had the adult hunt.

There is money in those eggs and we each find 2 eggs but there is a bonus egg with $50 bucks in it. Douglas was the lucky winner!

This year there was an OLD people hunt. Granny and Grandad had to find their eggs. I think they ended up having some help but they thought it was fun. We had lots of places to look since we had so much crap all over in the yard still.

Everyone was there except Nora, Darwin's oldest, who lives in Michigan with her mom.

Church View

One day I was super late for church. Doug hates being late so he left me to drive myself. When I got there it had already started and I hurried in and set down. I was flustered and was putting my bag down when Doug and Derrik were giggling. I looked at them trying to figure out what they were laughing at when I look up at the pulpit and I can't see anything! There is a young African American kid who is super tall with a huge afro sitting in front of me. The guys had me positioned to sit there and then Doug says maybe next time I won't be late. Dorks!

JIMBOB

Bobbie has found herself a great guy. His name is Jim Potts and they work together at the landscaping company. Jim and Bobbie got married at the Justice of the Peace on April 21st, 2011. We decorated their truck but by the time they made it to the restaurant most of the stuff blew off.

Jim must love the name cause both of his parents are also named Bobbie. Notice the licence plate....

A few weeks later we had the open house at our new house. It was very cute with a few close friends and family on a Saturday afternoon in our back  yard.

Derrik Baseball

Derrik was so excited when it was time to play baseball but he found out there was no coach and they had to be a certified teacher. He decided to ask his old 5th grade teacher Mr. Micartz if he would coach. He said he couldn't but he would help him find a coach. They found a teacher that would be willing to do it but then there weren't enough kids to play so the principal told Derrik he had till Thursday to find enough kids. He once again tackled it and got enough kids to play. Then he was made pitcher and he did pretty good. They didn't win much but a lot of kids who don't usually play sports had the opportunity to play and had a great time. I had one mom come up and thank me for Derrik asking him to play cause it gave him a lot of self esteem. Proud Mom walking...

From Derrik:  A few things that happend this season is I was batting and the kid right before me had threw his bat and the ump had said next personwho throws his bat would be ejected. Of course I was next and after hitting the ball I barely threw my bat after batting the ump ejected me. After getting a displeased yell from me and the crowd I sat on the bench and watched as we lost the game.

Another game I was pitching and a kid stole home for some reason and I threw it to the catcher but the kid was facing backwards the way he was supposed to so it hit his nose and it broke it but I didn't get ejected that time at least but I did however have to write an apology letter because my mom made me.

Sadie the Banker

An older version of Biz Town for 8th graders. I was also able to chaperone this one.

Sadie's job was to approve auto loans.

Kids would come in and pick the car that they needed based on how many kids they were assigned and their household income.
Her team did a great job and it was a lot of fun.

The Good Patient

Alan, AKA Grandad Slade, had his knee surgery after fighting the pain for as long  as he could. Doesn't he have some stylish attire?

After he some pretty good swelling going on. He was a lot of fun coming out of anesthetics. I pretty sure the nurses were happy to send him off to the rehab place!

Doesn't that look painful?

Chicken Coop

Doug wasted no time. He is so excited to get started on his little farm.

 He enlisted Kamryn and Derrik.

They used just scrap wood they found laying around and paint we already had. I think they did a great job.

Friends

My great friend Jennifer Shumway came over and helped me get my house put up and cleaned (cause she is so awesome like that). I was helping Judy watch Carson so she brought her son Sam. Carson was so excited to play cowboy with him.

The Big Find of the Century

From Doug since I wasn't there....

Derrik and I were shed hunting and had found a few brown ones in the morning.  We were getting ready to head back to the truck and I told Derrik that I knew were an old shed was that was all eaten up and asked him if he wanted to see if we could find it.  He said yes and so we did go and find the old shed and on the way back we found this big matching set.  They are the biggest sheds that I have ever found.

This is a picture of all the good horns they found that day.
