Happy Halloween!

Ohhh my little ones are getting so excited for tonight! The weather has decided to cooperate and its beaming with sunshine right now - yea!! We carved our pumpkins today and I seriously hate orange.... so, boring! I decided to pretty up the pumpkins with a little acrylic paint and it worked wonderfully!! Can't wait to see how neat they look lit up!

Here's also a quick card I created featuring some gorgeous new crystals from ZVA Creative (CRS03CB117)! The papers are from Bo Bunny's Whoo-ligans Collection.

That's all for now everyone. Have a safe and happy night tonight! BRING ON THE CANDY!

Power of Pink

Strength. Courage. Hope.

It's Power of Pink week over at the Bo Bunny Blog and in honour of those many women who have fought and defeated, are currently fighting or have lost their battles with cancer, the design team has created projects to show their respect for these amazing women. I would like to share a few projects with you today in honour of these courageous women and especially to my aunts who have both fought and won their respective battles with breast and ovarian cancer.

I love this saying. In times of stress, sickness, whatever - I find it reassuring to repeat these words over and over to myself. You cannot change/control outside events. You can control how you deal with what's been given to you. It's much easier said than done...

I handmade all the flowers on this layout and ended up painting the chipboard swirls and cardstock for a softer, overall feel.

The gorgeous crystal flourishes and perfect pink rose blossoms are by ZVA Creative. The Bo Bunny papers used in all three of these projects are all from their Persuasion Collection.

Scrap That! November Kit Reveal

Oh my!! Are you ever in for a treat with the November kit from Scrap That!! I ADORED working with these fantastic papers! Pink Paislee Parisian Anthology papers are PERFECT for altering with inks, mists, etc!! You transform them into whatever you want - and I love that about these products.

In my first layout I inked the papers and blended blue and yellow together so in some areas a lovely green is apparant. For my background paper I created my own postage stamp by using my mini circle punch (Stampin' Up!) and only trimming half the circle all the way around. Ink it up a little and you've just created your very own die cut -very easy!

I added a doily to this kit and sprayed lightly with some terra cotta walnut ink.

This layout features My Mind's Eye Lost & Found, Portobello Road Collection. LOVE this sooooo much - totally my style. Shabby, chic, rustic - just love the worn feel to this entire line.

I love dimension on my projects. Crochet doilies, layering papers, folding papers - whatever I can do to get away from a 'flat' looking layout. For this project, I simply rolled the papers slightly to create some deapth. This is an especially good technique if you have fantastic double sided papers where you want to show off the underside pattern.

I added my own wooden flourishes to the kit - they are from KaiserCraft and I felt that they just flowed so well with the overall feel of the project. I even kept the bottom 'label' from the patterned paper and used as an embellishment!

Here's another 'tag' - really the paper's label at the bottom. Loved the look and just couldn't bring myself to throwing it away.

Here's a super fancy card (for me)! Talk about stacked with product eh? Couldn't stop myself - LOL!! The papers are soooo elegant and the bling and blooms accented the piece perfectly.

Here's another card I created with Pink Paislee's Parisian Papers. To be honest, I 'wrecked' the first piece of paper I started with! I wasn't sure how the papers would respond to misting vs. inking vs. whatever, so I kind of experimented with it all and ended up with more of a solid looking page than a patterned paper. I don't do cardstock very well so I ended up turning it into a card...

Again you can see the dimension I added simply by layering my balloon tag over top of a fan flower.

That's all for today folks - thanks for popping by!!

Zva Creative October DT Blog Hop!

It's time again for the Zva Designers to join together to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts now and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, Oct. 26th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 27th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

The project I'd like to share with you today combines ZVA's gorgeous rose blossoms with their delicate pearl flourishes. LOVE the softness of these embellishments!

I used some of my famous crochet doilies for the page as well to help bring in the 'white' tones to the otherwise cooler blue and black shades. The papers are from Bo Bunny's Whoo-ligans collection.

The music paper was sourced from my local thrift store. Thrift stores are fantastic for finding 'treasures' to use in your craft projects. This music book was $1.00 and there are several hundred pages that can be distressed (as I have done), inked, altered, etc.

The flourish is one of the new releases from ZVA and includes a butterfly at the top of the embellishment. For my page, I found that using the flourish upside down worked better. I cut the butterfly wings and used in the centre of my leaves.

The blog hop begins here: Kim Hughes
Your next stop is here: Camilla Ekman

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us!

It's About That Time...

Yep.... my blog has been looking a little bare lately - what could be missing I thought?

Another giveaway of course!!

I'll be back later today after I raid my stash - I'm thinking some Bo Bunny, Petaloo and ZVA Creative. Goodies?????

For now, I'd like to share a layout that I created for ZVA Creative. Their gorgeous new releases are just crazy beautiful!! The colours in this crystal flourish are a deep orange/rust mixed with chocolate brown - SOOOOO rich!!

I paired with Bo Bunny's Cambridge Collection which I adore!! The normally grungy, masculine papers are easy to transform with a little lace, doilies, bling and blooms. Don't shy away from typical themey papers - just alter them to suit your needs!

ZVA Creative's beautiful rose blossoms were the perfect accent for this layout. Love the new colours - any colour you can possibly think of they have in four sizes of gorgeous roses.

Thanks for stopping by today. Will be back with some goodies for you a little later!!

Sugar & Spice

Today on the Bo Bunny Blog they have a fantastic sketch for you! I actually loved it so much that I used it on two different layouts. The one I will share with you today uses Bo Bunny's Olivia Collection - ADORE this line - so many beautiful blooms and deep, rich colours - perfect for those fall pics.

Here is the fantastic sketch we got to work with - provided by Sketch Inspiration.

My take on the sketch. I 'jazzed' it up a titch eh? I don't do clean and simple very well - but as you can see, most of the elements from the sketch are on my layout.

LOVE these stickers! Yes, these are actually Cardstock stickers that I cut out from a tag and when I applied to my project I couldn't believe how 'real' they looked! The epoxy brad and string bow are even part of the sticker.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Will be back tomorrow with another project to share! Enjoy your Friday - hang tight - weekend is almost here :>

So Sad...

That people do this kind of thing?? A company called Cradle's HappyBaby has used SEVERAL scrapbook layouts from OTHER designers (mine included) and simply slapped their own photo DIRECTLY over the original photo and claimed as their own and USED in their magazine!! I am appalled!!

Here is the link to the layout they stole from me - a RECENT layout I created for Petaloo.

Its just so sickening that people would do this? I am totally okay with people using my layouts for inspiration or even having people flat out lift my creations providing proper credit is given. When one of MY creations is flat out stolen, that is simply NOT okay. HORRID....

** UPDATE ** It seems as though the entire album has been removed from the online world - I cannot access the link now - a good thing (I told them to remove the photo ASAP!). Either FB has removed it due to all the complaints or the company has removed it. I think I may need to watermark my future work? Thank you all so very much for your support - means so much to me :>
