Ghostly Encounters & Stories of Victoria Concert Hall & Theater

I believe any buildings or places of long history would have it's own fair share of myth and stories of the 3rd kind. Apparantly; it was once a make-shift hospital during WWII for those injured in the Japanese Air-Raid and soldiers retreating from Malaya, which fueled to more speculation to it's rich history. Below are some stories & encounter witness by the staffs there.. and us.

The Family of Five

Encountered several times by the manager of VCH, it was said that he saw this family of 5 at the 2nd floor of the backstage of VCH. Presume of Caucasian decent. All the encounter was made at night and only when there's a performance going on.

The Entrance

Encountered once by the ticketing auntie of VCH. It was said at one of the performance, the entrance door of the hall swing open. It's just a wooden door that was properly latch. How did it swing open just like that?

The Storeroom

This occur once during one of the choir warming up session @ the Victoria theater terrace. Apparantly one of the events officer and a teacher witness this during one bright afternoon. A locked storeroom door knot actually vibrate violently; as if someone is forcefully trying to open the door from the other side. It just happen once. And only once. If there is someone alive inside, i'm sure that person will shout, or continue hitting the door, won't he?

Victoria Concert Hall Pictorial

Victoria Concert Hall Mini Pictorial!

Victoria concert hall & theatre looking all grand & stuff. This picture was taken a few years back, while the rest of the photos are taken while i'm working as an event officer for MOE, in the Singapore Youth Festival Central Choir Judging 2007.

A little history. The Victoria complex starts off as a town hall in 1862 during the era of Victorian Revivalism and is design with Italianate windows and rusticated columns, the 1st building in Singapore to reflect such style. Construction of the neighboring structure began in 1901 in memory of the late Queen Victoria and was officially open in 18 october 1905 by Sir John Anderson; then Governor of Straits Settlements. During it's lifetime, the Victoria complex saw service as a hospital during WWII, and after the war; venue for the Japanese war crime trials. The PAP was founded here as well. As was the 1st public performance of the Singapore National Anthem in 1959.

Take the Rate My Life Quiz

I stumble upon this picture online; find the facial expression on the players interesting. As though God has descend from heaven... No pun intended! I support the English & Italian national team!

About Me, Myself & I

Found this personality quiz @ mei yi's blog. I would say is very accurate portrayal of me! I'm bored, so i did a few of them!

Quiz 1 - Get to know more about yourself!

Your view on yourself:

You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:

You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education

Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.

The right job for you:

You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.

How do you view success:

You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Quiz 2 - How well do you get along with others?

Here is the analysis:

You truly believe in friendship. You get along well with others, and those who are around you are happy to be with you, too. You love to be surrounded by friends and you'll do anything you can to help them without expecting anything in return. When your friends are smiling, you're as happy as you can be.

Quiz 3 - Your Handwriting

Here is the analysis:

You are a sociable and outgoing person. You enjoy attending parties and seek attention from people wherever you can. The closer you place your words together, the more afraid you are of being left alone. Loneliness is your one great fear.

Quiz 4 - A murder in your town

Here is the analysis:

You had a dream when you were young. For you, having friends is important, so you have a lot of close friends who share the same dream and interest. You and your life companion have similar personalities.

Quiz 5- The Real You

Here is the analysis:

  1. You've got great self-confidence and you're full of charm. Most girls who get to know you will be attracted to you. You are far from sweet and proper; your intriguing personality fascinates them. Most girls find it easy to fall for a guy like you.
  2. You don't really care about other people's feelings. You do things the way you want and usually think only about yourself. You are easy-going and love to have fun, but you can be irresponsible as well. You are not keen on serious discussions because they can make you remember that life isn't always about parties.
  3. You are a bright, cheerful and bubbly person. You are thoughtful and considerate, and like to have fun. Everybody feels comfortable around you because of your pleasant nature. When you walk into a room, people's eyes are likely to be drawn to you because of your charm.
  4. Your peers think of you as a fun person, but sometimes you can be a little irresponsible. You can be somewhat childish, and can try to ignore the fact that you will one day need to really grow up and be a mature adult! Perhaps you could start reading good books; they might help you look at the world in a different light. You do want to be taken seriously, right?
  5. Your girlfriend believes that you are a strong and independent person. Your confidence and cheerfulness make you an attractive person to be around, but sometimes you need to pay more attention to what other people, including your girlfriend, are thinking

Quiz 6 - Your Hidden Talent

Here is the analysis:

The Mass Communicator

You have a cheerful personality and you are a naturally kind person. Your hidden talent isn't really that hidden at all: you shine among a crowd. You would make an ideal news announcer, flight attendant or model - any position that would give you an opportunity to deal with plenty of people. A tip for you is to avoid getting too deeply involved in others' personal lives - otherwise you might find yourself constantly being asked for help.

Quiz 7 - Your Working Style

You radiate sympathy and fellowship. You concern yourself chiefly with the people around you and place a high value on harmonious human contacts. You are friendly, tactful, and sympathetic. You are persevering, conscientious and orderly even in small matters, and inclined to expect others to be the same. You are particularly warmed by approval and sensitive to indifference. Much of your pleasure and satisfaction comes from the warmth of feeling of people around you. You tend to concentrate on the admirable qualities of other people and are loyal to respected persons, institutions, or causes, sometimes to the point of idealizing whatever you admire.

You have the gift of finding value in other people's opinions. Even when these opinions are in conflict, you have faith that harmony can somehow be achieved and you often manage to bring it about. To achieve harmony, you are ready to agree with other's opinions within reasonable limits. You need to be careful however, that you don't concentrate so much on the viewpoints of others that you lose site of your own.

You are mainly interested in the realities perceived by your five senses, so you become practical, realistic, and down-to-earth. You take great interest in the unique differences in each experience. You appreciate and enjoy your possessions. You enjoy variety but can adapt well to routine.

You are in your best in jobs that deal with people and in situations where cooperation can be brought about through good will. You are found in jobs such as teaching, preaching, and selling. Your compassion and awareness of physical conditions often attracts you to health professions, where you can provide warmth, comfort, and patient caring. You are less likely to be happy in work demanding mastery of abstract ideas or impersonal analysis. You think best when talking with people, and enjoy communicating. You have to make a special effort to be brief and businesslike and not let sociability slow you down on the job.

You like to base your plans and decisions upon known facts and on your personal values. While liking to have matters decided or settled, you do not necessarily want to make all the decisions yourself. You run some risk of jumping to conclusions before you understand the situations. If you have not taken time to gain first-hand knowledge about a person or situation, your actions may not have the helpful results you intended. For example, in the beginning of a new project or job, you may do things you assume should be done, instead of taking the time to find out what is really wanted or needed. You have many definite "shoulds" and "should nots," and may express these freely.

You find it is especially hard to admit the truth about problems with people or things you care about. If you fail to face disagreeable facts, or refuse to look at criticism that hurts, you will try to ignore your problems instead of searching for solutions.

And there you have it!

Literacy Bug!

5 Ingredients of Happiness

Happiness is different things to different people but there are common threads that run through the achievement of happiness for most people. These threads can be broken down into five ingredients. If you have all five of these you will be happy

1. Gratitude

Happy people are grateful and appreciative of what they have, whatever that may be. They always find something good and positive in their circumstances. This attitude of gratitude is the foundation stone on which happiness is built.

By way of contrast unhappy people are not grateful or appreciative of anything in their world. They are constantly focused on the fact that there is something that they don't have. They live in lack and as a result their spirit is lacking. Nothing ever makes them truly happy.

2. Passion

Happy people are passionate people. It could be a passion for knowledge. It could be a passion for success. It could be a passion for helping others. It could be any passion at all, as long as it truly inspires the person to become more than they are now.

The unhappy person is devoid of passion. They are complacent or apathetic. They have no inspiration in their life, nothing to urge them to evolve and grow into a more developed person. As a result they tend to go around in circles; each year is similar to the year before. They are in a spiritual rut.

3. Challenge

Happy people have a challenge that they are pursuing. It could be a purely spiritual challenge such as finding enlightenment or it could be a commercial challenge such as building a successful business. It could be a sporting challenge such a winning a medal in the Olympics or it could be a career challenge.

The important ingredients of the challenge are that it is in the area of the person's passion and that it is big enough to be inspiring but not so big as to be overwhelming.

The unhappy person avoids challenges. They are waiting for someone or something to give them happiness. They believe that happiness is outside of them and that any form of challenge is work to be avoided.

4. Faith

Happy people have faith that they will achieve the destination that their challenge requires. They have faith that they have the mental and spiritual strength to take on their challenge and to grow in whatever way they need to grow in order to succeed.

They have faith that every experience has its purpose and that something positive can be gained from it, even if the experience is a bad experience or a setback.

Unhappy people are lacking in faith. On the surface they are seeking happiness but they don't really believe that they will ever find it, and they are right. You can't find happiness if you don't have faith.

5. Journey

Happy people are on a journey to their challenging destination. They have a purpose for getting up each day. They have a purpose for the things they do each day. They are doing the things required to follow their passion and they take joy from that fact.

Unhappy people are stagnant. They are not on any journey to anywhere. They are milling around, marking time. They are waiting for the world to give them happiness and they will have to wait forever because happiness requires you to take action, to grow, and to move forward in life.

Happy people have all five ingredients; gratitude, passion, challenge, faith and journey. They may be Buddhist monks on the road to enlightenment following a path of poverty. They may be billionaire business owners following a path of commercial empire building. They may be musicians dedicating their life to mastery their instrument. They could be following any of an infinite number of paths but they all have the five ingredients of happiness.

My IPP mates! Thanks for the wonderful 3 months!

And i m back to school! TEP part one @ KM was really heaven! Part two @ BSU doesn't have much things to speak of. KM is 90% play 10% work. BSU is the 60% work 10% play and 30% boredom

At this point of time when the picture was taken; Mediacorp was filming the medical serial drama 'Qi Ji' (Making Miracle). The one with fann wong and ezann as her sista a.k.a xiao ai that one. Appx 40% of the movie was flimed in NYP

Crazy Taxi! I was the second in the room to attain S-Rank Driver. ^_^

And CS; i trained so much; that i'm almost on par with martin. Almost; but not yet... and our TP @ KM ends

BSU is really work all day; martin drop dead.

And then; after the IPP/TEP phrase and before the Study Period of Yr 3 Sem2; we had another BBQ/Chalet!

But the food was good!

Drench but happy; the rain stop awhile later. Creating a cooling atmosphere

^_^

The fire got abit out of control; favian decide to doze the fire with alcohol.

It became a bonfire; drastically acclerating the speed of food maturity; from 10mintues to 10 seconds

The only happy person was favian; he would proceed to pour even more alcohol.

Happy faces

Job well done guys!

Yr 3 Poly Study period was a stressful period. No picture was taken as everyone was @ the edge of nervous breakdown. My hand too couldn't hope a camera due to excessive trembling due to coding; writing; and tiredness
