141 days in the NICU and going home today...
We have the best news..... Dylan is being discharged from the U of I NICU today!!!!!! We are absolutely thrilled. The news has come very fast but we definetly are not complaining! Dylan is being just a little star and doing everything they want him to do before he goes home. We do have an oxygen setup at home as well as a monitor that he will use mostly when he is sleeping. He is weighing in now at just over 7 pounds 8 ounces and we love those chubby cheeks! This has been definetly a roller coaster ride thru and thru but our little miracle has fought his way thru and now is able to finally see his home. We have had numerous doctors and nurses come up to us and congratulating us and Dylan. He definetly beat the odds and we can praise god for that. We have met some parents up here that are in the beginning of their journey and we only had words of encouragement for them and their babies. Dylan decided that he wanted to come home with mommy and daddy no matter what any doctor said that very very scarey night on October 1st, and we really need to praise him and love him to pieces! He has been thru heart surgery, tummy surgery, eye surgery and numerous tests and overcome all of them. He has been poked and prodded more times than anyone can imagine and now this is finally the beginning of a wonderful life for Dylan free of those daily pokes and x-rays etc. He is definetly getting a dramatic personality, Brad and I just giggle at him and the faces he makes. There is one thing for sure we can now go on with raising our little boy at home and teach him wonderful things about life and most importantly to never give up! We can all learn a lot from this little guy, I think of him every time I have a little ache or pain that I want to complain about, I think to myself that complaining just isn't worth it because Dylan has had much more to complain about!
We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the prayers, cards, e-mails, gifts, meals and just for keeping our family in your thoughts daily. We still need the prayers to keep coming to insure that our baby stays healthy and growing every day. Because of his chronic lung condition it is vial we keep him safe this winter, inside and away from germs. This spring hopefully we will be able to introduce him to those of you who have not met our little miracle baby. But thank you everyone for everything, this has been quite a journey and our baby definetly has quite the story to tell. We love all of you and we love you Dylan and we can't wait to show introduce you to your new home today! Welcome home little buddy, you really deserve it. We love you and are very proud you are our son!
We will keep updating the blog once a week or so, so keep signing on to the blog! God Bless each and everyone of you, especially our precious little boys, Dylan and our own angel Dalton!~
