Something to remember....
As I look at our little 6 1/2 year old boy that is growing up into a little man faster than we can blink our eyes. I sit back and try to remember what is the most important things in our life that we need to make SURE and instill in our children....values, morals, life lessons, courage, etc. And then I read this and really hope that in the last 6 1/2 years that we have done enough to keep those things ticking away and evolving in his mind for the rest of his life.
There are approximately 2000 days between birth and the first day of kindergarten. The first 2000 days of a child's life can have a profound and lifelong impact on physical and emotional well being, readiness to learn and succeed, and ability to become a productive citizen.
Childhood is definitely a journey and not a race. I need to remember this each and every day. Even as a parent when we are frustrated with ourselves and praying we are doing everything right and hoping we aren't doing it all wrong.... I need to sit back and take a deep breath and make sure we are doing all we can, everything in our power to encourage our children to be the very best they can be. As the Kindergarten year comes to an end for our little Dylan we have learned so much. We are so proud of who he is becoming and how hard he tries at every single thing he does. I sure hope he is proud of the parents who will do anything to help him along the way :) We love you Dylan~

A Childs words....
Something to remember and never forget as the road seems so narrow and the air around you so thick. Parenting is a challenge yet also life's most rewarding gift. There are heartaches, tears, smiles, giggles and none of this you could even imagine before you're a parent in your dreams greatest wish. For each day we need to remember you won't be this small for long, parenthood is not a race nor a sprint .....it is a journey we face, and no parenting way is neither perfect nor wrong.
BIG news for Dylan, on Friday January 25th, Dylan lost his first TOOTH!!!! Oh my goodness, how can he be growing up SO fast??!!!!! He was such a tough guy and pulled it out on his OWN during lunch at school! The tooth fairy came and brought Dylan a $1- !!! He has another one right next to the one that fell out, that is very loose. We are anxiously awaiting for that one to fall out too! Mommy was a little concerned because when he pulled out the first one it really didn't seem loose enough to fall out. There was a pretty big hole left behind and absolutely NO sign of the big tooth poking thru. That was Friday. Sure enough on Sunday night, just 2 days later I was looking in his mouth and sure enough that big tooth had began to poke thru!! He seems like such a big little man now. Time to stop each day and soak up this time (teary sigh) :-) Love you Dylie!

A Very Special Place....
We knew in our hearts from day one that the place for Dylan to get his Education would be from where he is today. The school year is not even 3 months in and we are in awe, daily, by how much he has grown....already. Here are a couple of video's of his sharing that he has done on his sharing day's which is every Wednesday. Each week brings something new, a new 'sharing' sheet that he completes with us and then shares in front of his class.
I absolutely love that they are working on speaking in front of peers at such a young age. I hope and pray that this helps him in H.S when he has presentations to do in front of his class, or even as a young adult in college speaking to his peers then....that all of this early practice now will be cause for a lot less sweaty palm moments to come. For this is just another reason why we love his school.

Sharing his favorite childhood song
Before they leave class each day they say this special prayer....melt my heart!
At the end of each month his two Kindergarten teachers put together a video of what learning that month has brought. This brought tears to my eyes, these kids are having SO much fun!!!
And each week I continue to be amazed at what he shows us. I have got to believe that his core is being formed so strong and full of exactly what we want it to be....strength, courage and love. This is an exciting year we are very much looking forward to what will continue to come for Dylan.~

Something Special about being 6!
6 years ago today we were blessed with the most perfect 1 pound 5 ounce little boy.
He was our gift from heaven and continues to teach us about life and how grand it is on a daily basis. He is more full of life than I ever knew was possible...
and he is such a blessing for our family.
We love you SO much Dylan.
I love that today you are a vibrant little boy, showing us your stuff on the soccer field....
and we were once told 6 years ago today that, that would never be possible. Boy were they wrong ;-)
Go get 'em little guy! Happy Birthday!
May ALL of your Birthday Wishes come true!!!

Sharing Something Special!
This week is the second 'Sharing Day' project that Dylan has done for Kindergarten. This week his project was to learn the words and hand movements for his, 'I Am Special' song. He also needed to think of something that his friends don't know about him and tell them what that is for something special about him.
Dylan has been really intimidated recently and asking a LOT about why he was a tiny baby. More on the in depth story later......but we were talking about what he would write down and I wasn't quite sure he understood about telling his peers something about him that they may not know. So I asked him if he would like to tell his friends about how he was a tiny baby? His eyes perked up and I also gave him another suggestion and he said he wanted to tell them about how he was a tiny baby. So over the course of 4 nights we helped him learn the song and the hand gestures to the song also. He has them down pretty good, but you know it is a lot to remember to sing the correct words AND do the hand gestures also! On the second night I helped him draw a dollar bill and part of his sharing is that he is going to......well, how about you watch and see!!
We are SO proud of him! Daddy came home tonight as we were practicing and had tears in his eyes seeing the final project! Dylan will sing this song and share his drawing tomorrow on his sharing day in front of his class!!! I LOVE that they are doing weekly sharing projects like this and I have had SO much fun helping him each week! With it only being the second week of school I am already excited to help him with his next sharing day project next week. One proud mama here :-)
